This is true case story of a serial killer in Canada. It is very interesting with well developed characters lots of action, misdirection, and violence leading to the conclusion.
I would recommend this novella and author to 👍 readers of true crime novels 👍🔰. 2023 😡👒😯😮
Perhaps you have never heard of Allan Legere, dubbed the Monster of Miramichi. Traumatic events in his youth turned him against society and humanity. He and his brother were the victims of bullying throughout their school years.
When he was a teenager, his beloved brother was run over by a truck. Amid his inconsolable grief, his mother told him that the wrong brother died, that it should have been Allan who was killed.
Legere developed a deep hatred for all mankind. In the course of committing his crimes, he progressed to savage murder. Imprisoned for his crimes, he effected an elaborate escape plan. While on the run, he continued to kill, claiming revenge for the way society had rejected him.
This is a short but comprehensive story which shows that anyone can become a victim of a twisted mind.
Allan Legere, known as the Monster of Miramichi, was a serial killer in Canada. Although he did not start killing until he was older, he still made a dramatic effect on the citizens of his society. Of course he had a rough childhood, which led to a rough young adulthood. He started stealing as an adult, although he was not good at it. During a burglary, he and 2 accomplices killed an elderly man, which led them to prison for 20+ years. But Allan escaped, and his reign of terror began. He was a violent psychopath that in all, killed 4. He is now in a maximum security prison for life.
This book was well-written and easy to read. A quick read, but powerful.. If you like reading about serial killers, this is one for you!
Most excellent read! While brief, it has all the elements of an engaging and frightening true crime story. Serial killer Allan Legere brutally traumatized this small town in Canada and I would bet the remnants of his reign of terror still exists today. Actually after reading this, I made sure my doors and windows were locked up nice and tight as these types of killers with grievances against society in general are even more common today. Highly recommended!
This will be the first negative review I've ever left, but I feel that strongly. This book is terrible. I didn't want it to be, but it was. I remember the crime well and have been working on some coverage of my own. I was hoping that RJ Parker's book would provide some valuable insight. It did not. In fact I was left feeling disturbed, not by the crime, but in the disregard for fact in this "true crime" book.
After carefully comparing the information presented by Parker to easily verified facts, I am disturbed by the lack of care taken in the research. Mistake after mistake left me disappointed. For those who want the real story, with more facts, find yourself a copy of the out of print offering, Terror's End. It is infinitely better than this.
I really am not quite sure what to make of this little vignette I'll call it. I say that as this certainly was not what I was expecting for something selling itself seemingly as a novel. It appeared to me as this was written by someone with a grade eight level of English, written and comprehension for that matter. Interestingly I've noticed the author, in some of his other works, promotes himself as having a PH. D- I'm not too sure what this is, guaranteed though it's not what you think judging from this nonsensical read.
I guess when you get a freebie on Amazon, you have to expect your going to get what you pay for. In this case, a short on a serial killer in Canada. This is just a bare bones description of the crimes. Not all that well written-reads more like an extended wikipedia entry than a short story. Although I will say that I'd never heard of this particular criminal, and found the ineptitude that led to his escape, staggering!
One of my biggest pet peeves with books is errors. This book is full of them. Spelling errors especially, where they couldn’t even have Allan’s name spelled the same way throughout the book (spelled Allen twice that I saw). And also geographical errors where it states that the Renous jail was in Moncton. It made me hate the book. I knew this story and I was hoping to get more information on it. But so many details were left out. Disapointed…
This was a super short read about serial killer Allan Legere. He was a Canadian serial killer who committed most of his crimes in New Brunswick. He was convicted of one murder, sent to prison and then escaped and committed 4 more murders. He was on the run for over a year before he was caught and caused a lot of fear throughout New Brunswick. The murders he committed were extremely brutal, and involved torture and sexual torture. He is still in prison today in Quebec.
Very interesting and well written short history of the Monster of Miramichi, Allan Legere. A truly depraved killer who hopefully remains in jail for the rest of his life. Not for the faint hearted reading.
This Legere was one sick, sadistic killer. Reading about him scared me more than reading about some other true crimes. I hope he never roams free again for all our sakes.
I normally like RJs books. I also remember when my hometown was terrorized by Allan Legere. This was simply a rehash of the public facts. Reading newspaper archives would have been the same.
A good but short story about a serial killer. How he always in trouble for being a thief and how he advanced to robbery than murder. Allan Joseph Legere was his name. When was it going to end.
A simple short true crime story Just narrating facts about the serial killer Alan Legere and his crimes The book is just ok for the fans who like true story crimes
