A very mediocre book.

If I never have to read another book on "calling" it'll be too soon. An overblown concept, but at least this book acknowledges that the concept of calling is broad. It was fine. I would not read it willingly. Read Os Guinness' The Call or Courage & Calling by Gordon Smith if you want a more robust discussion of calling.

While a helpful tool for those engaging in the process of discerning a call to ministry in the United Methodist Church, it is vastly uneven. The chapter on United Methodist history/theilogybisnits best while its chapters on self-care and financial management are already outdated and lacking. It is best to be read in a covenanted group, discussing together.

Ax extremely useful resource for discernment and candidacy for ministry in the United Methodist Church. I found it both informative, reassuring, and inspiring.
