I adored this book! It combines historical romance and mystery, which I love those two genres together. It starts with the possible murder of Edith's friend and from there we start a journey with Edith to find out the truth. I loved Edith! She was a strong character who held her own against threats. I loved the humorous moments with her and Triston. I did get a little annoyed about Triston being compared to Adonis, which happened a lot but I still liked him as well. It was a short read but I loved every moment. I cannot wait to read the next two in the series!!

Triston and Edith

A murder mystery ensues on the wedding night of one of her dearest friends. Lady Edith finds herself embroiled in an investigation along with her two friends that none of them are equipped to conduct.

Triston, Lord Torrington is an honorable man who has been terribly wronged in his past. His only desire is to keep his name scandal free and assist his young sisters with their first season. Unfortunately, he stumbles upon Lady Edith's investigation and she's underfoot with her golden beauty every time he turns around.

This was an entertaining little story.

Despite its dark beginning it was a light and charming story with a good premise.
Two sweet, innocent people met by chance and incurred in a series of unexpected events that eventually took them to find true love in each other’s arms.

Lady Edith was part of a group of friends always on missions to find out what exactly happened the night their friend Tilda died as well as revealing cheaters, liars, rakes, and all kinds of scums to the world. She and Triston met by chance while she was in one of her missions trying to find proof of Tilda’s possible murder. I really liked Triston’s character; he seemed to always be in a light mood despite the many things going on in his life.

What I didn’t like much was Edith and her group of friends. I don’t know if it was just an age thing but in my opinion they tended to behave heedlessly, particularly for ladies of that time and place. Also, the pace was a bit slow and it didn’t pick up until past half of the book.

In short, it was an ok story but it was a hit and miss. There were a lot of missed opportunities to delve deeper into the character’s emotions as I felt they were just left hanging in the air. I also would have liked the relationship between the main characters to grow stronger before finding that happy ending as I feel they fell in love too quickly. The twists at the ending were well played and that turned the story into a more enjoyable one.
3 stars overall.

*** I received this book from the author at no cost to me and I volunteered to read it; this is my honest opinion and given without any influence by the author or publisher.***

A short historical romance. Lady Edith and her friends are out to gather dirt on Abercorn, the Duke who married their friend Tilda. On Tilda’s wedding night she was found at the bottom of the stairs with a broken neck.
Edith meets Tristan, Abercorns neighbour while she is spying on Abercorn. She thinks Tristan has something to hide and that he might have information on Abercorn. Their few interactions are amusing until on the way home Edith is abducted. Tristan sets out to rescue her and realises he is in love.
Mildly amusing but lacking depth of plot and characters.

The Disappearance Of Lady Edith is the first in a new series called The Undaunted Debutantes, following three young girls as they seek justice for the death of their best friend on her wedding night.

I love Christina McKnight's writing and I've raved about her books before, but for me, this one doesn't quite hit the spot. The premise is fine, I like the protagonists well enough, but the whole thing takes place over just a few days and feels extremely rushed.

On their first meeting, Viscount Torrington catches Lady Edith Pelton spying on his neighbor. On their second meeting, at a ball, he has little opportunity to speak to her. The next time she sees him, she covertly follows him home from the park, ends up in his room where they kiss, and on her way home from there, the titular disappearance occurs.

During the rescue, the hero then realizes he's in love with Edith.

They have met THREE TIMES.

Now, I'm a firm believer in instant attraction, but insta-love is taking things a bit too far. This felt really rushed, and I'm enough of a fan of Ms. McKnight's writing style to feel a bit cheated. Where was the build up, the multiple meetings where only public pleasantries can be exchanged?

In addition, the second book in the series is about Lady Lucianna, and she came across really badly in this book. Frankly, she came across bossy and rude, and I didn't actually believe her account of Tilda's death - mainly because her best friends didn't seem to believe her either!

Much as I like the author's work, I think I'll give the rest of this trilogy a miss.
Three stars.

I found this book while poking around on netgalley looking for something new to read. The cover caught my eye (the yellow and green are lovely) and the blurb sounded fun. An historical romance with a dash of mystery? Sign me up! So, I was excited to receive an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

And, honestly, I really enjoyed this story! It is 188 pages, so somewhere between a novella and a short novel and I easily read it during a long flight. But, for the story, the length worked well! You get enough of a plot, mystery, and adventure that, by the end, you really get to know everyone, including the secondary characters who are clearly being set up to be the heroines in the rest of the series. The romance is kept strictly PG, which works with the condensed timeline and short length.

As for the story, it has a lot of action and adventure packed into the story. The pacing is fast – I was never bored – and while the mystery wasn’t overly complicated, it was still fun to see how things would unfold. I look forward to learning more about poor Tilda’s Duke in the rest of the series and hope that the obviously unanswered questions are answered. In fact, that is why this gets 4 stars instead of 5 – I didn’t like that things weren’t tied up neatly with a bow and I didn’t like the resolution for this story’s villain. Call me bloodthirsty, but I would have preferred if they had pitched themselves over the cliff or had a more gruesome ending.

In general, I liked this book and can recommend it as a fun, clean, story and a delightful way to pass a few hours. I look forward to the next installment in the series!

The disappearance of Lady Edith was my first historical romance read, so I was pretty excited to read it and I have to admit that my initial excitement was well paid off and this book didn't disappoint me even a bit.

Lady Edith is a headstrong woman, determined, sensible and brave. She has set out along with her friends to find out whether her childhood friend Tilda's newly wed husband was responsible for Tilda's mysterious death on her wedding night. I loved Lady Edith's character right from the beginning. Her character is really well built and absolutely likeable.

Next coming to the man who stole Lady Edith's heart. He is Lord Torrington alias Triston, Marquis' son, tall, handsome and strong. He is good at heart and definitely loved Lady Edith a lot, and didn't think twice about endangering himself to save Lady Edith. Lord Torrington is another very likeable character.
"He’d wage war against a fire-breathing dragon to make certain she was unharmed. And Triston would lay down his own life to make bloody certain Edith lived a life full of happiness and love."

The mystery of this book is the disappearance of Lady Edith and not the death of Tilda. Though it was not the mystery that I had expected when I read the blurb but still this mystery hooked me completely. The last part of the novel totally kept me at the edge of my seat and I could not keep the book down

The romance between Torrington and Edith was sweet but the mystery in this book became a highlight for me rather than the romance.

Though the book has a HEA for the main couple but it doesn't reveal the person who murdered Tilda, so that's a cliffhanger. Now, I have to wait for the next installments of the Undaunted Debutantes Series to know more about Tilda's death. But in spite of the cliffhanger I found The Disappearance of Lady Edith to be quite a enjoyable read.

If you are a fan of historical romance mixed with mystery then you would definitely like The Disappearance of Lady Edith.

I received this book from net galley for an honest review. Thank you!!

This novel was an enjoyable and quick read. The plot flowed very quickly and had a few twists. This novel contains romance, mystery, and adventure.
Ladies Edith, Lucianna, and Ophelia found one of their best friends dead after she supposedly fell down the stairs. Their friend had just married a duke and one of them heard an argument between them. This leads them to prove that the duke was responsible for their friend's death.
Lady Edith Pelton is caught spying on the duke by Triston Neville, Viscount Torrington. It was quite entertaining how their first meeting went. Triston wants to know why she is on the property but Edith gets away before he learns her name. Triston has his own issues to deal with, especially after the woman he was betrothed to married his father. He also has to escort his sisters to various functions, where he sees Edith again.
Edith follows Triston one day to get some "information" on him but he catches her. Edith gives him her notebook, which has notes about the duke and any encounters he has had with others. Edith leaves and then shortly later goes missing. Triston needs to put the clues together to find her before it is too late while Edith tries to figure out who took her and why? Will Triston find Edith in time? What is the kidnappers motive? Read and find out!!

I purchased as part of a 3 book bundle the author offered called THE UNDAUNTED DEBUTANTES SERIES.

I did enjoy how the H/h met, made me laugh. If she was spotted in the tree, which seemed to be close to the road, she would be ruined. Several other times, rules seemed to not be adhered too. Still, I enjoyed the story even though some editing/spelling issues too.

The h and her friends believe their friend was murdered. That part of the story is not handled in this one, of course I have two more books to read in the bundle. I felt sorry for the H, his betrothed ends up marrying his father and he moves out of the house.

This story had some surprises as to another villain who tries to harm the h. If you can suspend belief with what I've mentioned, I think you would enjoy this story.

The h/H only have passionate kisses. But, near the beginning of the story, the h witnesses some women standing naked in a window. She then is fondled by a man, no description of anything taking place, except with your imagination.

No cheating, no cliffhanger for our H/h except the murderer not found, HEA and little on romance. I did enjoy the banter between the H/h at times. (ljb)

This is a short Regency romance with Lady Edith and Tristan, a marquess. When he finds Edith spying on his neighbor the Duke from a tree on his property, he is intrigued to find out the lady’s true identity. And Edith is sure Tristan is hiding secrets, and she’s determined to reveal them in the gossip column her and her friends secretly write each week. It’s a silly fiasco as she follows Tristan to find out his secrets, and mysteriously disappears afterward. The book was a bit too contrived for my liking, and I couldn’t really get into the characters as much as I hoped, but it’s a fun, relaxing read that doesn’t involve much thinking if you need a good book to chill out with for a night.

One tragic night has lead three women on a journey of danger, courage and love. Christina McKnight, begins her Undaunted Debutantes series with a bang. The Disappearance of Lady Edith is a story of betrayals, danger and the quest for justice. The death of a close friend has pushed Lady Edith to the edge. She wants someone to pay and she needs answers. Her determination catches the eye of a possible suitor, but also puts her in more danger than she could ever have imagined. The lure of the chase is hard to ignore.

The Disappearance of Lady Edith by Christina McKnight
The Undaunted Debutantes #1

Potential is there but there were so many things that didn’t ring true. I can’t imagine a young “lady” in early 1800’s London being allowed to run free without a chaperone whether on a horse or without one. Being up in a tree spying? Leaving public gardens to follow a man…and into a questionable neighborhood? Three friends searching for the killer of their friend might be possible just as they might desire to prevent other young women from making horrendous marital mistakes BUT in that day and age and economic strata women were bargained off on the marital market with little say in the matter and the freedoms and access to newspapers the three had seems a bit fantastical. The hero might be a hunk but he did not seem to have many if any redeeming qualities and the relationship between him and Edith seemed…unlikely.

If you are looking for a fantasy rather than a historical novel this series might be for you. I cannot recommend it as “historically accurate” though. Would I read more of the series? Perhaps – to find out who killed Tilda and to find out what else the author might decide to have the young women get up to.

Thank you to NetGalley and Barclay Publicity for the ARC – This is my honest review.

This book was frustrating to read, I did finish it but only to see how it would end. As it turned out, it doesn't end...the mystery isn't solved. I didn't enjoy it at all and I do not recommend it if you are an historical romance reader.

Started good, but fell apart

This is my first book from this author. And my last. While I'm always on the lookout lookout for new authors to add to my collection I already have several dozen of authors I really enjoy & quite a few other new ones to give a chance to that I can't be bothered with any authors that annoy or disappoint me.

Annoyances: I hate when authors use antiquated words or phrases (presumably in a misguided attempt to remind readers it's a period piece. All it actually does is cause my reading (and no doubt others) to clank to a shuddering stop at these words & phrases. It totally interrupts my enjoyment & eventually kills it. The two biggest offenders in this book? Mayhap (instead of perhaps) and "...needs must". Ex: She needs must find out why...
I can't understand why any author would use that phrasing...ever. It reads like the sound of pots & pans dropped on the floor. Also, I don't think it's even being used correctly. It's like the author was trying to decide between "she needs to" and "she must" but decided to use both instead of choosing one.

Disappointing: Character inconsistencies. Ex: Edith was at first very brave. Striking out on her own. But then she ends up uncontrollably shaking in fear over being addressed by her kidnapper? Not that she doesn't have the right to be afraid, but her earlier character showed spirit & aplomb

Speed of character development. Maybe another hundred pages would've helped this author. There was a nice natural progression of character until Edith is kidnapped. Then it was a headlong rush to the end of the book. It went abruptly from an innocent kiss to both apparently deeply in love. To the extent that Triston cares more about Edith than anyone in his life. Apparently his beloved sisters no longer rate. It's the absurdity of teenagers lurching into a forever love after one meeting.
Whenever I see authors do this speed ending all I can think is editor deadline or the author is no longer interested in her own story & just wants out of it as soon as possible.

The ending ((((((spoilers)))))) Really? Everyone was okay with Esmee? Edith *immediately* becomes compassionate to the person who was going to throw her off a cliff? Tristan is okay with her just going to the country estate? The father is still desperately in love with her (especially since I never believed he was in the 1st place)? It's just absurd.

Plot inconsistency. Granted it's quite minor, but it doesn't bode well for author &/or editor to not catch. Issue: Time frame & location of Triston catching Esmee with his father. In bed or in his study? One year or two years?

I also think it was REAL problem to use an actual aristocratic title when you aren't actually using that person. (I'm not even going to address any legal implications.) The title I mean? Earl & Countess of Shaftesbury, Edith's parents.

I was given a copy of the book for an honest review.

The four close friends were talking and gossiping at the end of Tilda's wedding to Lord Abercorn. Giggles and happiness filled the room. The girls decided that they had better go to bed and send Tilda to her wedding bed. Before the girls got to their rooms, thud. They looked to find their dear friend not moving at the bottom of the stairs dead. Luci just knew it was the doing of Abercorn. Ophelia, Luci, and Edith set out to prove it. Edith was the snoopy, stalker. To spy on Abercorn, she climbed the tree and found him with an unknown woman. Edith feel from the tree and landed at the feet of Tristan Torrington. Tristan got quite a show seeing the fair Edith with her dress over her head. What a way to start a connection. Yes, sparks flew.

The girls were determined to pin Tilda's death on Abercorn. They just knew he had something to do with her untimely passing. The twist was Tristan's ex-fiancé was his step-mother. Esme broke of their engagement and married his father. Tristan only put up with being in his father's house only to provide his two sisters with proper chaperoning to be introducted to society. Horrible Esme was bragging about trying to get pregnant and they knew they would be moved to the country and not able to wed suitable men.

As time past, Edith kept after Abercorn and his actions. In doing so, she would continue to "bump" into Triston. Edith was losing her heart to Tristan. He didn't know it and thought he wouldn't be acceptable given his past. Tristan was losing his heart to Edith and risked his well being to save Edith when she came up missing. The "bread crumb" trail was left by Edith's abductor.....the evil Esme. Of course our hero wins the heart and future of our heroine...our HEA.

I enjoyed the story line and wanted to find out how Abercorn was involved with Tilda's death. We still don't know how he was involved...yet. With the warped mind of Esme, could it have been her. Luci is against men that treat women poorly. Did something happen in her past to provide her with her thought process. Will Luci open up to being able to find her HEA? Will Ophelia find hers?

The Disappearance of Lady Edith by Christina McKnight attracted me because of the blurb that promised a brain teasing, spine tingling mystery and a heart thumping historical romance and I am so happy I decided to pick this book up to read!

I enjoyed every second spent reading it. There are two mysteries in this book. One is the murder of Edith's best friend which runs in the background and will continue in the next book and the other is the mystery of Edith's disappearance as suggested by the title of the book. Both mysteries had me speculating and I am more than eager to see the mystery of Edith's friend's murder solved.

Triston and Edith are so cute together. I loved them and stayed invested in their clean, wholesome romance throughout.

Edith and her two friends, Luci and Ophelia are loyal to their deceased friend and invested in solving her murder. I felt connected to them and it was like being with friends as I excitedly followed them in their search for the murderer.

Christina McKnight's narration is fluid and vivid and she managed to keep me glued to my seat throughout. I could visualize each scene and the mystery felt like a puzzle which had me playing detective along with the heroine.

The plot is admirably conceived and executed. The author has developed the story as well as sketched the characters beautifully that will easily engross the readers in this book.

All in all, I adored this book and cant wait to read the subsequent books in this series. A very entertaining historical romance with an engaging mystery, I was left with a happy smile at the end and an eagerness to grab the next book. 4.5 out of 5 to The Disappearance of Lady Edith by Christina McKnight and recommended to everyone.

The Disappearance of Lady Edith by Christina McKnight

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

OMG She did it to me again!! She shocked me with this book!! I loved the darkness of the opening prologue and then the mystery that surrounded the story!! The Who-Done-It was great and a great way to weave the story of Triston and Edith together.

The story begins with 4 friends giggling before their friend’s wedding night. They were helping her gather the confidence she needed for her new husband. When suddenly, she is found dead…the three ladies set after to catch her killer.

The story jumps forward and we meet Triston and his awesome dad…please read that with full sarcasm. Triston sees a woman in the tree but what he really sees is her knickers and well that my friends makes him go and see who this woman is!! The couple met up a few times and he learns about her through is younger sisters who are entering their 1st season.

Edith is drawn to Triston because she thinks he may know something due to his association to their friend’s killer. Each time they meet is more and more inappropriate then the last time. When they kiss, well things get a little crazy because then Edith is taken and it’s up to Triston and the other friends to find her plus figure out WHO HAS HER!!!!

This book was a super-fast read. The beginning of the book might be a bit slower than the last half but I think it’s because we are meeting all the suspects and other people of interest for the series. I cannot wait to read Luci’s book because she is one tough cookie. She will not fall easily and when she does look out because I think she is going to be not so happy about it!!

I enjoyed this book by Christina McKnight, but it felt too short. I read the ebook version so I don’t actually know how many pages the book was, but there just seemed like so much more needed to happen before the book ended. It is the first book in her series so I am hoping some of the lingering questions will be resolved in future books.
Lady Edith Pelton firmly believes in facts. She will not allow her friends to ruin anyone’s reputation solely based on rumor. They must have facts which is why she is spying on the Duke of Abercorn, the widower of one of her friends. Yes, another friend claims to have seen the Duke push his wife down the stairs that awful night, but they have no proof. Being caught up the tree by a man who simply seems to show up everywhere is not convenient. Maybe he knows more than he is telling.
Triston Neville, Viscount Torrington, doesn’t know what to think when he spots a woman in the tree outside his father’s house. Then he seems to run into her everywhere. Is she following him? Will she revive the scandal from years ago? What is he going to do about his attraction to her?
Triston and Edith certainly have an interesting relationship. Things progress very quickly and there doesn’t seem to be enough time for things to develop naturally. Given the circumstances, there is very little courting and almost no build up to the final ending. We also don’t find out what really happened to the Duke’s wife.
I definitely wanted more romance and courting. The story was just too abrupt for me. I did appreciate the suspenseful elements. I don’t want to give too much away by talking about what happens between Triston and Edith. I am looking forward to seeing how the mystery resolves itself in future books.

It begins with a tragedy. On the night of her wedding, Lady Tilda falls or is pushed down the stairs to her death. Her new husband, the Duke of Abercorn, doesn’t seem to be terribly upset about it. Even though they have not been able to prove the Duke is responsible for her death, Tilda’s closest friends, Ladies Edith, Luci, and Ophelia are determined to find the evidence they need to prove his guilt.

We next see the friends in London about a year later. The girls are still trying to prove Abercorn is guilty of Tildas death, but they have branched out to warn London’s ladies about unscrupulous men through a column in the newspaper. Edith, although she is the most skeptical of the three, is best at investigating and gathering clues. She and Tristan meet when he catches her in a tree spying on Abercorn. They continue to run into each other, and the result is hilarious, until Edith is kidnapped. Now Tristan and the ladies join forces to find and rescue Edith.

This is a story that holds your interest from the prologue right through to the epilogue. It is a fast paced plat with a number of twists, turns, and surprises. It is the first in the Undaunted Debutants series centered around the three ladies trying to solve their friend’s murder. Tristan and Edith are wonderful together. Luci and Ophelia are tough and determined. You will love meeting Tristan’s sisters, Pru and Chastity. It will be interesting to see what kind of adventures are ahead for Luci and Ophelia.

Lady Edith, Lady Ophelia and Lady Lucianna are all very good friends. They were with their good friend the evening of her wedding which was also the evening she died at the foot of a grand staircase.

Edith and her friends believe that Tilda was murdered by her groom. They are attempting to prove it.

Edith is caught spying while up in a tree. Triston, Viscount Torrington, wants to to know exactly what Edith is doing in one of his father's trees. When she falls from the tree, they have their introduction to one another.

This is a quick read which is part mystery as well as part romance.

I enjoyed much about the book. There were also some small details which grated with me.

Edith and her friends are intelligent young women who are determined to prove murder. They will go to any lengths to reach their goal. Edith is intelligent and capable. She is immediately attracted to Triston and he is attracted to her as well.

The secondary characters are well done and add depth to the story. Since this is the first in a series, the reader is introduced to Lucianna and Ophelia in order to get a picture of their personalities. Triston's sisters are very dear to him and they play a part in the plot.

Ms McKnight is a new to me author. This is a quick read and although part of a series, it has a conclusion. I enjoyed Ms McKnight's writing and will look for another book by her.

Love Happens Unexpectedly

Lady Edith and her best friend's lives were changed in an instant. For that reason, Lady Edith's current focus is not on dancing around a ballroom, but sitting up in a tree.

Deception and betrayal changed Lord Torrington's life two years ago. As much as he hates the idea, for now, his focus is on his two sisters as he plays escort during their first London season.

For some reason, The Disappearance of Lady Edith was at the back of my Kindle. Which is odd since I like Christina McKnight's clean writing style. Regardless, I opened it up and was immediately drawn into an original stand-alone story that is the first in The Undaunted Debutantes Series. From the start I liked Lady Edith, but Lord Torrington had to earn my admiration. Which he did. Their witty and edgy dialogue, and that of his two sisters was truly grin-worthy. As far as romance, the attraction between Edith and Triston may have been instant, but the love took awhile. Since this is more of a novella, Ms. McKnight had to move the plot along, which did hurt it a bit in the more dramatic parts. Still, the overall flow was good and I never felt the need to skim through the pages. I liked the ending as well as the sweet epilogue. With the exception of the overarching mystery, all of the immediate loose ends were neatly tied together.

Content alert: This book contains a few mild swear words, some sweet kissing and one violent scene.

“The disappearance of Lady Edith” started quite dramatically with the death of Tilda on the night of her wedding to the Duke of Abercorn. Three of her friends, Ladies Edith, Lucianna, and Ophelia, present in the house at the time of the death believe the duke to have pushed Tilda to her death and vow to uncover his guilt.
A year after Tilda’s death, the three ladies find themselves still unable to ascertain his unequivocal guilt. It is only when Triston, Viscount Torrington, finds Lady Edith, spying that the usual events take place. In trying to uncover more information, Edith follows Triston to his lodgings. When Triston realises that Edith has been following him, he demands that she reveal what she is doing. Their attraction soon becomes apparent and they find themselves revealing their story to each other.
The story takes a dramatic turn involving Triston’s sisters, Edith’s friends and other family members. A quick read with adventure and romance.

It also brings Triston into her life which complicates things a bit, especially since Edith thinks he has something to hide. Edith and her 2 friends are determined that no other woman will become the victim of a dishonorable man. Now Edith has to investigate two men, but she might have bitten off more than she can chew with Triston as she also thinks that he is an Adonis. Will Edith avenge her friend's death? Will she regret her investigations? Will she place herself in danger, and if so, who will rescue her? Read on to find the answers!

I enjoyed this story so much. It has some mystery and intrigue along with a nice blend of humor and sweet romance. The heroine is feisty and courageous, and the hero is strong, intelligent and committed to doing the right thing. The story is well-written and the sub-characters are very entertaining. Well done! A great start to this new series! Highly recommended!

First off, the cover is beautiful and invites the reader to open the book. Secondly, the prologue drew me right in. What really happened to Tilda? Why wasn't her new husband more distressed at seeing the state of his new bride? What are Edith, Luci and Ophelia going to do?
Fast forward nearly a year and Triston and Edith have their first meeting. Sparks flew from that moment. I enjoyed each of their meetings, their escapades and their good hearts. There were some interesting twists and turns in the story that kept me reading until the end.
There are many more stories to be written about the wonderful characters introduced in this book. Also, the mystery from the prologue has still not been resolved. I look forward to reading those books as it will be fun to see what Luci and Ophelia are up to next.
I always enjoy Ms. McKnight's book and this one was as good as all of her others. I encourage you to read and enjoy it.

What a great start to a new series! This one had twists and mysteries that I couldn't figure out fully and I love that. I was not expecting the reason that she disappeared or who was behind it at all and never knew what was going to happen next with it everything. I loved their first meeting so much! The ending was perfect and I can't wait for the next one to see how the story unfolds.

Edith is very different. She wants proof before she does anything and isn't afraid of anything. I loved her from the start because she always seemed to have a plan and she spoke her mind. She also thought of others first even when she was in danger.

Triston will do anything for his sisters even when it mixes with his past. His scandal was not one I expected and it explained a lot. I loved him right away because of how he was with his sisters and that he was a quick thinker.

The Disappearance of Lady Edith is a phenomenal historical romance by Christina McKnight. Ms. McKnight has produced a well-written book populated with a stellar cast of characters. Edith and her friends are convinced their friend Tilda was pushed down the stairs, to her death, by her new husband the Duke of Abercorn on her wedding night. Triston spots Edith in a tree on his father's property while she's spying on Abercorn. Triston has agreed to his father's wishes and will accompany his sister during the season. Triston and Edith's story is packed with drama, humor, spice, action and suspense. I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading my next book by Christina McKnight. The Disappearance of Lady Edith is book 1 of The Undaunted Debutantes Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

I voluntarily read a complimentary copy of this book that I received from Bookfunnel. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

"The Disappearance of Lady Edith" is a clean, historical romance that was enjoyable. Edith is spying on a duke, trying to find incriminating information on him and prove that he killed her friend on their wedding night. She is stuck in a tree on Triston's property when he scares her out and Triston is happily greeted by her knickers.
Triston is surprised, and intrigued, by the woman in his tree. What is she doing on his father's property and why is she in a tree?
Edith and Triston keep meeting in places and an attraction sparks. There is some danger in following the duke, can Triston save Edith in time?
Cute story, this was the first book I have read by Christina McKnight and I liked it. There were only a couple of kissing scenes, so the heat was missing for me. But a good story nonetheless.
