Turned Tables outlines the hardships and disadvantages faced by African Americans for centuries and the injustices and police brutality African Americans still face daily today— except the tables are turned. In this novel, it is white Americans who experience these injustices and are racially profiled because of the color of their skin. Readers get a glimpse of life through the eyes of others to better understand their point of view.
On the flip side, Turned Tables allows African Americans to look at their lives based on the lives of the white Americans as portrayed in this book. Through this lens that is turned inside out, Turned Tables shows the reality of the black experience in America and the situations black Americans are actually faced with. Turned Tables will teach black Americans the lessons they need to learn to overcome adversity and give them hope for their future.
There are so many lessons that both races can learn from reading this book, and its heartfelt hope and message is that it will encourage all Americans—black and white alike—to have a different outlook on life.
