Three Words

Rate this book
I had never really known the full impact words could make until three words changed my life. "I'm being deployed." They came out of nowhere and turned my world upside down. I had so many questions for Alex but instead of asking them, three words slipped off my tongue. "We are done." I loved this man more than anything but his decision to re-enlist broke me. I didn't have the strength to live out my worst nightmare... Burying the man I love. He made his decision. Now it was time to live with mine. *****STANDALONE*****

3 & 1/2 stars

Easy to read military romance. There were some instances in this book that seemed a bit wishy washy for me. The characters were rather weak and the storyline was far fetched. There were things said but we were never given any reasons.

Hayden is a nurse working in the children’s ward of a Sydney hospital. Her boyfriend Jay is a male stripper and gets jealous of his best friend Alex and Hayden talking. Seems he has his own secret to reveal which leads to a very ugly breakup. To put some distance between them new couple Hayden and Alex relocate in Queensland. She gets a position in the hospital and Alex is given a new post in the Navy. Everything changes when he gets deployed because she can’t stand to lose anyone else.

I really loved Hayden & Alex story right up until the 75% mark. The first 3/4 is a lovely slow burn love story that is so real and has you pulling for the characters because they could easily be you.

And then there is the last 25% - which could be from another story altogether. It's like a Hollywood romance movie that some producer decides needs some action and suspense... it just doesn't really fit with the rest of the story.

It would have been a 5 star read if it had ended with the letter in chapter 21.

The blurb doesn't really do this one Justice.
It was a one sitting quick read for me.

I did have a few issues with constant time jumps. It made things feel a bit more rushed and gave me that feeling like "whoa slow down".

There is a good story here and with some tweaking it could be great. The characters are a good stable. I'd really like Jay's point of view to be honest..

I liked the slow burn elements of Hayden and Alex's story and enjoyed seeing them together. Their story had the makings of a sweet romance with little drama albeit a little fast paced. But then things took a turn I wasn't expecting, I liked the direction that the story took and it certainly was a surprise but I didn't really connect with it. Overall, I liked this story.

Military romance can be great, but the tension of him reenlisting against her wishes, then his Navy bosses trying to unalive him, while reporting to his wife that he was already in that state is too much. If the book was 500 pages and all this was fleshed out maybe, but in a quick 200 pager it is too much and unnecessary.

My 3 words: I loved it!

What a great story. Loved the journey. The emotions and everything the characters went through. Wonder if a series would be an option

I enjoyed the book but the transitions between events and chapters just weren't very smooth in my opinion.

Three Words by Lauren Firminger is a standalone military contemporary romance.

Oh my god, talk about an emotional roller coaster. This is the first of Lauren's books that I've read and it's now rated my number 1 ugly cry book. The blurb for this book really doesn't do it justice and it rally doesn't describe everything you will come face to face with in this amazing story but despite all the tears that I shed reading it, it is still an beautiful and exciting read. It is told from Hayden's POV, and contains so much raw emotion, lots of ups and downs, twists and turns, has some sweet and sexy and some great characters to work with. I'm not usually a big 'ugly cry' book person, however I found Three Words to have such an in depth and intriguing story line that I couldn't put this book down. It literally grabs hold of you and doesn't let go til the very end.

I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy and I have not been compensated in any way.

Stunning, heartbreaking, gorgeous

Hayden has been in a relationship with Jay but one night out she meets his friend Alex.
Her and Jay have an argument that night.

A couple nights later there they both are at her work. Why?

She finds our Jay was cheating on her.

Now with Alex how will it go especially when he is deployed.

What happens next my lips are sealed you need to read to find out.

Loved it

This is the first book I have read by this author and it won't be the last.
Three words was all it took to turn two peoples life's upside down "I'm being deployed" who would have known her response would be "We are done" .....
This is a beautifully written love story, the words flow and the characters are likeable and easy to fall for but it's not just a sweet love story there is conflict and a few twists and turns along the way.
Looking forward to reading more from Lauren Firminger

This was the first book that I have read of Lauren's and my god was it good! This book had me on the edge of my seat in suspense practically the entire time.
Hayden and Alex's story is a truly beautiful love story. I loved his nicknames for her.
Alex is in the Navy and flies helicopters when on deployment. He finds Hayden after his best friend, Jay, royally screws up.
Hayden was such a strong character but sometimes she was too strong willed and stubborn! I loved the conflict in this book and the twists! The twists were amazingly well written.
I can't wait to read more of Lauren's books!
