I barely survived one nightmare, I don’t know if I can outlive my wildest dreams.

When I lost my husband my whole messed up world collapsed. I hate that he's dead, and I hate that I wasn't the one to kill him.

I need time to grieve for my marriage, my wasted potential, but I don’t want to revisit those dark places… Except Harvey Guyer, my womanising stepbrother, somehow manages to see the pain I’m in and refuses to let me disappear into a cloud of grief.

He’ll lead me places I don’t want to go, force me to tell him things I do not want to admit to. But whether I like it or not, he’s the only one that will listen to me.

Businessman of the year, Harvey thinks he’s hot stuff... he’s the last person I need in my life right now. Yet with one look, I can’t get him out of my head and hate the effect he has on me. I long for his hard body against mine.

And he might just be the only one strong enough to drag me kicking and screaming back into the light.

Will the pleasure be worth the pain?

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review & since I hadn't read anything by Emilia Beaumont before I was delighted to read Vulture.

The title & the synopsis of Vulture was intriguing; thoughts of a salacious nature immediately sprung to mind, as Sara says "My stepbrother, Harvey Guyer, preys on the innocent, the vulnerable, and weak! And further "He’ll get under my skin, peck at my bones, and rip my heart to shreds".
Harvey sounds like a despicable, bullying, man-whore of the highest order. What we get is a deeply caring man who loves Sara & does all he can to save her from the despair and the relief at the death of her husband. Sara was an abused wife, downtrodden after years of bullying & beating, who is bullied by her uncaring, self-righteous sister. To put it mildly, Sara is a mess & Harvey sets out to save her, forever.

The book, for me, did not live up to the title or the outline. There is northing precisely wrong with the book - I read it all fairly quickly but it didn't have ant empathy or interest in the characters. It just wasn't the right book for me at the time. I will read another book by the author because I never allow one book to turn me off a writer.

This story will have you rooting for the unlikeliest hero-Harvey Guyer. He comes across as unfeeling, nasty, a man who will prey on the innocent and the weak but that isn’t Harvey deep down. When Harvey hears that his step sister is in need of him, he immediately goes to her.
When the story started, we see how Sara’s life has been. Her husband did something so horrible to her and within a matter of minutes, he is dead and the police are at her door informing her of this and taking her to the hospital to view his body. Sara didn’t have a soul to call on to help her but yet there is Harvey showing up even though she didn’t call him. From there, he takes her under his wing and he helps her. Harvey never EVER has taken the time to help anyone else but for his step sister Sara, he lets her see his true self and he gets to see all of Sara. He helps pick up the pieces of her after the brutal attack from her husband and helps her back on her feet , getting her back to who she was before her husband made her think she didn’t matter at all. We start to see why Sara had some issues with not thinking she didn’t matter to anyone. And all I will say on this is her Mother and twin sister are evil human beings who should rot. Harvey again stands up for Sara and is her champion. We , the readers, get to see Harvey the white knight stand up for Sara and he really speaks for her and does right by her. You can read the love he has for her and he makes sure that everyone understands what needs to be said/done. Harvey never gave up and finally they both came to terms that there was something between them. But before they could have their HEA moment, Harvey had a jerk moment and it delayed things. Harvey ended up in a car accident and Sara got the phone call. She rushed to the hospital and there they were able to confess their love and there was a beautiful make up moment. There was a great HEA moment. I enjoyed the story and I Cant wait for the next story from this author.

Misleading

Good story, but it wasn't nothing what the description had said. Kinda misleading. He wasn't a jerk or for most part of story wasn't nothing but kind to her.

Family sometimes fall short

In a abusive relationship between her and her husband for years. Sara is emotionally drained, but she want leave because her mother is a bad example jumping from marriage to marriage. She will make hers work abuse and all.

But her mom and twin don't see what's happening. Her mom thinks image is everything and she should at and be a certain way. Her twin sister just dislike her for some reason that she could not put her finger on. It all comes down to her being jealous because Eric Sara's husband chose her and not her twin so she's feeling jealous even though she has her own husband and two kids. They have no idea what Sara goes through every day of her marriage and I don't think they care.

The one person who sees through the wall she has up is her stepbrother he's there for her and he's helping her pick up the pieces of her life. Including getting out of the rut that she's in after not only her husband but her mother's death.
But HEAs come when you least expect it. And these two are about to have their happily ever after together even in the midst of all that has happy and both of their lives faith has brought them together.

This book is on another level of tragedy and miracle honestly, I cannot describe how disgusting the male character is, and how stupid the female character is.

The plot consists of continuous deaths to elope on a miracle in the epilogue, so here it is.

ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTFUL !!!
Title: Vulture
Author: Emilia Beaumont
Designation: A Stepbrother Romance Standalone Novel
My Rating: FIVE DELIGHTFUL STARS*****
Wow! Emilia Beaumont has dazzled us yet again with another deeply emotional and truly moving stepbrother romance. After reading the title and blurb for the book, I expected a very rough and tumble story with characters you love to hate but what I read was something completely different and totally unexpected. I was utterly captivated from page one all the way to the very last page. I admit, I almost had a heart attack when I read "The End" and thought the book had ended a little prematurely but was happily rewarded when I turned the page and found the epilogue. Whew! That was a relief! We did get our happy ending! The story is powerful, emotional, compelling and romantic. The narrative is exceptionally well written in the first person with alternating his and her points of view. The dialogue is smart, easy, natural, well executed and flows effortlessly. But the true stars of this novel are the remarkable characters. They are captivating, intriguing, engaging, well crafted and are quite simply, the very heart and soul of the entire story. I immediately fell in love with all the characters and became completely vested in their futures and their quest for happiness. Even the "bad guys" of the story were noteworthy. If an author can make me forget that I'm reading fiction and convince me to hate a character in their book, then they've done an exceptional job. Maybe hate is a strong word but believe me when I say, I strongly disliked Sara's husband, Eric Chambers and her twin sister Anita. Beaumont skillfully combines all these elements into a deeply meaningful and delightfully entertaining contemporary stepbrother romance with a twist. I absolutely loved the interaction between Sara and Harvey. It was so much fun to watch the building of a real friendship between the two protagonists. It was an absolute delight to watch their gradual blossoming love for each other with each of them being afraid to venture into unknown territory and risk their heart. This novel begins as a slow sensual burn and gradually builds to a roaring red hot blaze! This book also contains a few unexpected developments along the way and some very pleasant surprises as well! I love it!

Thirty two year old Sara Chambers is completely crushed when her husband Eric is killed in an automobile accident. Her feelings stem not so much from his death but from her fear of being alone and having to suddenly fend for herself. Her actual feeling over his death could only be described as one of relief - she is relieved knowing the physical and emotional abuse she has suffered for the three years of their marriage had come to an end. Her nightmare is finally over. Never during the entire three years had Eric ever allowed her to have a life other than one caring for him and their home. He wanted to be the sole breadwinner and he felt her place was at home waiting for him yet Eric never seemed happy or satisfied with her or anything she did. After their wedding, Eric changed from a loving, caring fiance to a hateful, volatile tyrant. Sara became completely and totally isolated from her family and friends. So now, she has no idea what to do and has no one to whom she can turn for guidance - until her handsome stepbrother, Harvey Guyer, barrels into her life and comes to her rescue. After her mother dies unexpectedly a few months later, Sara literally shuts down from the emotional stress and shock of losing another family member but Harvey seems even more determined to help her through her grief. In addition to being her stepbrother, Harvey has also become her best friend but Sara is having very inappropriate thoughts about her stepbrother. This is so not good! Her totally hot stepbrother would never want a plain-jane like her - would he??? Could her life get any worse??? Oh, yes it can!

Successful, charismatic businessman, Harvey Guyer has the reputation for being quite the ladies' man. He could have any woman he desires but he's looking for the perfect woman - a woman like his perfectly imperfect stepsister, Sara Chambers. And fortunately for Harvey, she's now a widow and even more fortunate - she's technically no longer his stepsister! Game on!

I received this book for an honest review. It was an amazing story. It was a little different then most step sibling romance you read. I do love the approach the author took.

I could not read this book without my heart breaking for Sara. It starts off with her married to this abusive husband. She knows what it is like to live with someone who degrades, rape, and beat her. So when the day came that she got the news of her husbands death it was not surprising that she did not feel like shedding a tear for him. Her husband Eric was so not worth her tears. Like the saying goes when rains it pours and it seemed things were pouring Sara’s way. It was like she could not get a breather. She was doing good to hold her head above water.

Sara did not only have a bad husband but her mother and sister were not much better. They treated her like scum on their shoe. I truly did not not like her mother or sister. Harvey on the other hand did not hesitate to drop what he was doing to be by his step-sister side. He had no idea what she had been thru when she was married but did notice that she was not the strong woman he once knew. Something had truly tore her down.

Harvey was this wealthy business man that was sexy as hell and woman drooled over him. He had spent so much of his life looking for the right woman. I almost laughed at his thought of a perfect woman. No piercing and no tats were on the list. Not to many people truly got to see the true side of Harvey. So the compassion and love he show toward Sara had to shock Sara some. She truly had a special place in his heart for her.

I feel like I should mentions Sadie. I loved Sadie through out this book. She had so much strength and knowledge that used to help Harvey and Sara out. As you read this book I am certain you will fall in love with her character as much as I did.

A lot of step sibling books you read it is where the stepbrother is this bad boy and working hard to get in his stepsister’s pants. Please don’t get me wrong, I love books like that as well. But this story is different. This one you get to watch a relationship grown between the two. You get to see how it confuses and scares them. This is a book well worth reading and I think you will just love it as much as I did.

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.

In this book we meet Harvey and Sara. Both of these people are keeping secrets in one form or another. Sarah has been keeping her secret for years, part of her secret is that her marriage hasn't been good for years. She believes that she has nowhere to turn to and she believes that this is what she is suppose to do for her marriage. It isn't like she hasn't tried to change it but every-time she does it just makes things worse. In the beginning of this book Sara is making another attempt to bring her and her husband closer which has disastrous consequences for her, Sara is told by two officers that her husband was in a car accident and did not survive. The shocker to her is after she identifies the body of her husband she doesn't know what to do or where to go and the one person that comes for her is the last person she expects her step-brother Harvey.

Harvey is looking for that elusive perfect woman. He dates quite a lot but is one of those one date and done kind of guys or at-least that is how everyone sees him. Harvey is holding his own secrets that he is sure if they ever come out no woman will want him. Harvey knows also that he may have found his elusive perfect in a woman but how can he when she is his own step-sister. Harvey also knows that their was more to Sara's marriage and he needs her to open up her secrets to him for her own good. Getting her there not so easy though.

This is a great story about finding that perfect person and realizing though this is real feelings getting that perfect ending might be a fight in it's self. There are quite a few secrets in this book that will have you on the edge of your seat till the very last word. I would highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone.

Authors writing: This author was detail orientated but not over detailed when it came to tough scene that the main character Sara was describing about her abusive husband. The story had a lot of events that happened in a short time. You were able to connect to the characters, the events, and the emotions going on. This is a story that I would read again and I would also encourage others to read. It shows that life keeps throwing punches, but you can get up and keep going with the correct support.
Overview: (May contain spoilers) Sara was a typical wife. But her husband was abusive. After he assaults her, he was killed in an accident. She shows up to the hospital to identify his body, when her step brother Harvey was there for her. He took her home, and helped her through the funeral. Even though he was a Man-whore, something in him changed that day. Harvey wanted to make Sara happy. Sara got a job and was starting to do better, but than her mom dies a month after her husband. She was completely whipped emotionally. She just couldn't go to another funeral. Her twin sister was mean to her and Harvey told her to leave and not come back till she could understand what her sister was going through. Harvey never gave up. He helped build Sara up and finally they both came to terms that there was something between them. Then, Harvey ends up in an accident too. Sara's heart dropped again. She couldn't go through this again, thank goodness he was ok. But more surprises were to come.

I was given this ARC in return for a honest review. Vulture is one remarkable story that will leave you thumbing though the pages want to know the end. Emily Beaumont has written a beautiful love story, , yes the are step sibling but they weren't really raised together and throughout this book the bond they have could never be broken.

The book starts with Sara who was once a confident women who would never allow anyone walk all over her who's handbag do for the last three years who has been abusive, who has changed her, crushed her making her weak and a shell of her former self die in an accident.

Harvey the man whore step brother is the one who comes to her rescue, help her though the hard times help and loves her unconditional, no string, allows being there for her.

The bond between them is strong there has always been an undying love undermining their lives but because of the step thing neither acted. Both have secrets, both are broken in their own way and both realise that they are meant to be together.

You will cry and feel the pain that they go through, you will even loose hope that maybe they want be together. You will see how these two people are so different from the rest of the family who are truly selfish and only out for them selves.

You will be so full of love by the end and it will leave you smiling and happy . I can't wait to see what Emily has installed next on her new adventure

Emotional and sexy with good characters (and hot sex)

Sara's life has taken a devastating turn, and only her a-hole stepbrother Harvey keeps her from falling to pieces. And there's something about Sara that makes him want to be nice--at least to her.

Harvey's wealthy and hot, but he's a tool--particularly with women. Harvey is what bad boy Alphas turn into after too many years without limits and consequences in relationships...and it isn't pretty. He's also kind of weird at times--the kind of weird, along with his attitude, that people wouldn't put up with if he weren't so rich and attractive.

Sara's family makes her miserable...except for Harvey. He helps her face life again, and she makes him feel emotions and needs he's never felt before, like wanting to comfort her when she's upset. I found myself crying as Sara took one hit after another from her husband and all that follows.

It's an emotional book with a great payoff as Harvey and Sara grow up and learn to trust and love. Near the end of the book, there was a coincidence that was a bit far-fetched and a fertility plot that abruptly appeared out of nowhere and should have either been omitted or expanded. Overall, I really liked Vulture and I received a free copy of the book in exchange for leaving this honest review.

----Maybe it's the name, but I kept imagining Harvey Specter from Suits (behaving at his worst) as this book's Harvey.

Drama, abuse, deep emotions. This story has all the ingredientes to hook me into Reading in just one seat. Written mainly from Sara’s perspective, it’s got a sad tone as she pours her heart out about all her misery at her husband’s cruel hands. When tragedy strikes, it does so in spades.

I would understand her deep sorrow and why she sometimes despaired. Yet she tried to be strong, even when nohing in life was bright anymore. Her stepbrother seemed a bit callous at first, but he proved himself over and over againt to be her knight in shining armour. I loved how relentless he was in helping her.

I loved the story in general, though the synnopsis and the title gave me the impression that the heroine was prey to a dangerous stepbrother, and it was the complete opposite. Despite the misleading information, I really enjoyed myself with this complet, yet romantic couple.

The story was filled with the consequences of abuse and neglect, but also with the hope of healing through love and determination. It also had its steamy reward at the end. I’m so happy that I could read it. Lovely story.

This is a truly touching and emotional story about a woman named Sara who is going through an extremely difficult time in her life and her stepbrother Harvey is the one to help her through it. This book discusses difficult subject matter, but the fact that the author provides an HEA for the characters makes this okay. Harvey is not the typical hero in any way and comes across as hard and uncaring, but I found myself rooting for him the entire time. I wanted Sara to find happiness and love with Harvey, especially after everything she'd been through. This is a story about finding love in the most unlikely of places and being able to learn to trust in someone after having your heart broken. I really enjoyed reading this and highly recommend it to anyone! I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Life and Death. So closely linked. Sara is alive, or is she? Alive but not living. After her abusive husband dies, she is like a lost soul. Existing from day to day without help from family except Harvey. Her Stepbrother.
Harvey who only thinks of himself, but does he!! He is like a lost soul too. He is there for Sara every day..helping her.. motivating her...wanting her. This was so so much more than usual stepbrother stories. What came across was an undercurrent of a deep love and hope. First from Harvey then Sara. There were moments of laughter from Sadie, what a character. Loved her. A story of hopelessness, need, want joy, love and purpose. It didn't get too heavy but gave hope for the lost.
Vulture. ..not picking and using but pecking away barriers to see light at the end of the tunnel.. Loved it Emilia.

* * ARC given on behalf of the author for an honest review * *

Harvey isn't one you would typically root for, he's man that doesn't feel, mean, cocky but I swear I kept wanting to root for cause with no questions asked he runs to his step sister in her time of need. Sara has kept secrets about her broken marriage, her husband wasn't the nicest oerson but when his killed in a auto accident the last person to help her was her step brother Harvey. Sara's mother and sister aren't to nice to her and once again Harvey comes to her rescue. I'm telling you I'm really liking him. He helps rebuild Sara , shows her she's worth love, worth time spent on her. I truly loved this story, definitely a must read.

the blurb on this book made this book sound so exciting. Hot sex with a demanding step brother, emotional turmoil from the husband. But it completely did not live up to the billing. The characters were one dimensional and some of them didn't even add to the story. What was going on with the mother and sister? What did they have to add? Even though the story was written from both points of view, we never really found out any feelings from Harvey and apart from the start of the book there was no mention about his dominating ways. I didn't get why the abusive husband was there. So much could have been made of this storyline but wasn't.

I'm disappointed I paid money for this book and won't be buying anymore from her

The synopsis, title, or even the first chapter turned out to be what the book was actually about. The way Harvey was portrayed was not how he truly was in this story. The story was good but I feel like I was mislead into believing Harvey's character was one way when he was the he complete opposite. I really didn't care for any of the other characters in the book. Sara's sister, Anita, was a bitch and her Mom wasn't there long enough for me to form an opinion but I had to hazard a guess, I suspect she was just like Anita. There was no back story as to why they treated Sara the way they did or what was actually going on with her husband. Overall it was a good read but I was expecting something different.

Vulture... at the beginning i couldn't understand why that was the name of the book.... but now I do. This is a book very emotional. Lots of roller coaster emotions. I really loved the Way Harvey was, he was honest and protective, and I loved Sadie the is the best second character ever. Sara was amazing, she tried very hard to be strong. I really could understand her. I wanted to be her friend and help her. I hated that scumbag of Eric. And Anita was an horrible human being!! she was so awful to Sara. It's a very good book, the taboo subject is so light that you even didn't notice it. You need to give it a try and read it, it's worth the time.

I really enjoyed Ms. Beaumont's previous book, Snake. But this one was a bit of a miss for me. I don't particularly care for the title, as it's not an accurate description of the caring man in this story. Most of this book is quite good...emotional but well written. And, there's no doubt this author is a master at creating characters you love to hate! The end though is really abrupt, with a short epilogue following. It bums me out a bit that the ending was unsatisfying to me.
Please note that the author was kind enough to gift a copy of this book to me and I have in turn left this honest review.

Definitely a great stepbrother read. Harvey is a definite womanizer and pretty much ignores his extended family until he is notified that her husband was killed in a car accident. Sara was never his type and her family grates on his nerves. As he attempts to keep her steady, he finds he cares about her. She deals with more loss and not very well. She locked up her abusive marriage for so long, she has a lot to work though. Pleasant surprise and a great ending for these two. Love this author's work.

Emotional all around, there is a spot in the beginning for Sara's p.o.v. where she was raped by her husband and then the rest of the story is based on the after math of the accident that ends her husband's life. Not really a spoiler of this story but the rest would spoil it for you. This is a touching building trust and friendship that builds into romance for Sara and her further non stepmother Harvey. These people are not 20 something adults but mature 30 something adults.

Sara didn't expect her husband to to get killed in an accident. The last thing she expected was for her step brother Harvey to be the one to stand up for her. Harvey has spent years looking for his perfect woman. After spending so much time with Sara, he realizes that he may have known her all along. Sara and Harvey are wonderful characters, and I loved their story.

It's a sweet love story between step siblings that were not raised together so it doesn't feel wrong in anyway.
Sara's abusive husband dies (insert cheer here for karma)and she feels lost until her step brother walks into her life to pick up the pieces. There was drama throughout the book and the author connected all the dots and kept me interested. The story had a nice flow and I bonded with the characters. Nice job and I certainly recommend this book.
