From bestselling author, Bobby Andrews, comes the third book of the "Stryker" series. ISIS unleashed a weaponized version of the deadly Ebola virus, killing 97 percent of the world’s population. Only the immune and those who hunkered down in remote locations remain. Through the chaos that remains strides a giant of a man known only as Stryker. He is a former Force Recon Marine who has lost as much as anyone, but fights to preserve his honor and creed in the face of slave traders and rogue military elements who prey on the innocent. Edwards, his former battle buddy joins him. Together, they care for three young women who survived the plague and attempt to give them lives that are as normal as possible under the circumstances. After things began to settle down, Stryker and his group started looking for a better place to live and during the search they witness ISIS fighters unloading from freighters in the Corpus Christi, Texas, harbor. Our band of heroes face several encounters with danger, including the epic battle with the band of ISIS terrorists who have invaded the homeland with the intent of occupying what is left of the United States. But, Stryker has another idea for the terrorists: elimination. After concluding their battle with ISIS, with the help of an air strike from a still-functioning U.S. Navy aircraft carrier, the group strikes off to make a new life in San Diego, where the captain of the carrier has decided to berth the ship and use the nuclear reactor to power the San Diego Naval Station and to begin efforts at rebuilding the country. Follow along as the former Recon Marine and others overcome obstacles and danger in an effort to keep what is left of the American population safe from every threat.
After a little decline in book 2, Bobby Andrews came back strongly in book 3
I would like to see a second Stryker series with a different focus. I would like to see more emphasis on rediscovering how to live in a world without the technology we take for granted. I would like to see less emphasis on the violence between good people and evil people and more on the adaptations of survivors. I would like more descriptions of the changes to the Earth in the absence of a huge human population. What happens to unattended nuclear facilities and dams? What happens to domesticated plants and animals? What happens with invasive species? This comes from the science geek in me as well as my interest in military history and military structure. I just think these stories need to be more than simply battles between good and evil, but I think this tactic stretches most authors more than they want to stretch imagination and research.
Stryker, Erin and Hailey continue their journey to San Diego in order to join with carrier forces believed to be stationed there and to regroup in a more moderate climate. Unfortunately Stryker lost his battle-buddy Sarge to cancer, which cast a solemn shadow over the group and greatly decreased their abilities. Stryker’s other Force Recon buddy Edwards was still out Portland-way with Elle searching for his parents or some clue as to their existence. Stryker continues with his eerie ability to rescue young single women by adding a couple more survivors to his crew and then delivering them to their homes. We follow Stryker’s crew as they head west and encounter both good and bad situations.
This was an excellent ending to this series! Stryker and crew ran into a few more people, some good and some not. They kept going on to San Diego and the Naval base. I really enjoyed this book. More of Styker's personality came out as well as weaknesses. He seemed more human. Erin loves him fiercely but is not afraid to tell him what's what. This book is a nice ending for the series but, alas, I would love to see more of Stryker and the gang! Please, Mr. Andrews, write some more!!! Highly recommend this book but read books 1 and 2 first! You won't be sorry!
I have generally liked this series but it is starting to get a little repetitive in terms of the dialogue and Stryker's self doubts etc. They always seem to go from fight to fight and never are able to start trying to build a life (even at the base they go off to a fight). I liked the sojourn at Zion National Park since I have been there many times. They should have stayed there.
What else is their to say but Stryker. He continues to protect his group of survivors and rescue more on his way to SanDiego. Book ends with the arrival at the Naval Base and Stryker setting out to search for a missing man. Needs to be a book for to continue the story
One in about a day, great read. I am enjoying the characters but must admit the main character seems to be jumping around a bit in this one. Being more human and less the perfect soldier. Makes for some variation.
I have read the first three books in this series and found them all to be enjoyable. I like the character 'Stryker' and the way he tries to protect a everyone. The storyline is good and fast paced. I have already gotten the next book.😊
Loved this series and love the characters. They were well developed and interesting. The scenarios are interesting and how they survive is educational. Would love to read more about Stryker and the other characters.
EeyHe is a character that has fibber. He made of all the right things.
I choose because of the military theme, a clear leader leading honorable people.. I wanted more about Recon training and not so much concern about doing what has to be done. The two who took Anne, there's no doubt about that outcome. Don't want to hear it Hal
Have read all three Stryker books. Excellent characters, well developed with interesting and intertwined story lines. Would love to see more in the series!
Your 3 books have been very entertaining, sometimes simplistic, but entertaining. I was wondering why they never ran out of fuel and bingo they stopped and ran into two convicts. You said that 3 books seemed to be a standard. I'm not sure if that's always true. Dirk Patton is up to fourteen books and is still fun to read. Other authors have also written many more than three and still find interesting ways to continue the story. Typos would be a good thing to clean up. That seems to occasionally be an issue with some people. You can't stop now otherwise we will never find out how Arizona turns out.
As a seasoned reader of dystopian fiction and a huge supporter of the self-publishing phenomenon I have read most of the work on in this genre on Amazon over the past few years. The Stryker series stands out as a jewel among its contemporaries. Short on political commentary and agenda and long on great plot and character development, Stryker stands head and shoulders above the fray.
I rarely write reviews, but when I noted in the Afterword of book 3, that this may be the end of the Stryker series I was compelled to write. More than three installments of an action series is becoming more commonplace. I like following well developed stories about characters with whom I relate. This a great series - don't miss it.
Would most certainly want to see another installment in this series. The books are interesting and written in a manner leaving you wondering and interested to see what will happen next.
My one complaint is the books aren't long enough. They are the type of book that you actually identify with. Interesting concept easy to read. Hate to see it end. Look forward to the next twelve books.
You can't let us hanging with this series not knowing how it plays out. It is a great story and needs another book to letter reader know how our hero's end up.
I love these books I would love to see more of this series. Maybe another series of three this character can stand more time. Let them have children and maybe do more with Edwards
Stryker is a great character and I liked that he was portrayed as a real person who deals with issues even with his strength.. I would love to see more books in this series. There is much more to Stryker and Erin's story.
The story is cleanly written. The narrative is direct. The storyline doesn't contain a lot of filler so you move quickly, and the pace is perfect. The story has the right balance of rush and lulls. I've noticed that to many times author's try and cram nonstop action and you start to lose attention. Stories full of adrenaline just end up making you worn out.
