Will Ahran, Galius and Elaya rescue Toby? Or has Sophie lost her only family as well as having given up Ahran. Tagan's Change is the second book in the fast-paced, adrenaline fuelled, love story with a twist Tagan series.
This is the second book in the series and carries on from the first so they should be read in order. I Loved this book. Somehow the parallel universe, the adventures and the relationships all have integrity and depth and credibility even though a plot summary would sound like a bad episode of some obscure sci-fi romance on television. Sophie is a likeable woman with a lot insecurities but a warm heart and bucket loads of courage. Her love for Ahran is tested to its limit in this story. I won't give away any of the plot but I will say that I wasn't expecting the twists in this tale and devoured this book in just a couple of sittings. I really couldn't put it down. It had me gripped from beginning to end and it flowed really well making it easy to read. The writing is good, enabling the image of places to develop in the readers mind, without long descriptive passages or too much detail but with enough to seem real. But it is the emotional impact that is the biggest for me. The story is told from Sophie's point of view and you are buffeted by her experiences and really feel what she is going through. I actually feel a bit bereft now I have finished it- in the way that you do when you have to leave characters whom you have connected with on an emotional level. I am really looking forward to the next one.
Omg!!!! I have never read such an incredible book like this. Twists and turns and tears and laughter all rolled into one. I have been on an emotional ride with this book and was not disappointed. A must read.
This sequel was certainly worth waiting for .I couldn't put it down .lots of twists and turns that took me by surprise and an ending that had me wanting more .only sorry I read it so quickly .looking forward to the next instalment .
Brilliant as usual, loved reading every page, couldn't put the book down. Really can't wait for the next book to be released so I can continue the story.
I read this thru KU. I came into this one not expecting too much. Initially, I was surprised that the author began to write better-- more showing, less telling. But it didn't last.
***potential spoilers*** I am not particularly fond of Sophie's whiney-mcwhines-a-lot personality. She is always SAYING that Toby comes 1st but always ACTING with herself as the priority. A perfect example was her agonizing over whether she or the royals were best for Toby (masking her own insecurities about losing Toby) when Ahran's ex outs his secret and Sophie takes a headlong dash through a portal, that could've closed separating her from Toby forever, without saying word one to Toby, and totally focused on her own love-life problems to the point that she forgets that there are bad Ramians out to get her and her family. There was literally nothing "Toby first" about that whole situation. And then there was the whole cliche after cliche-- he stalked her because he lived her; she didn't know and self-destructed; she refuses to face the issues even when an outside force offers insight; he acts cold and distant; she realizes she was wrong and lives him, wants him after all but it might be too late; and then...miracle of miracles, they TALK TO EACH OTHER. BAM! 1/3 of the book resolved. Meanwhile, news of the new threats is zero. News of Bahzeera, totally side-noted like 3 pages from the end. And what does the title of the book mean?
But...author's writing was better. And, by the end of the book which ends rather suddenly, Sophie has begun to show that other side of her that is more likeable again. Just enough to hook me into one more freaking book.
This author, alternately interests and angers me. I cannot decide whether I like or hate the series. I'm not sure if I'm only here for Ahran, cause he is one of the few more fleshed out characters and therefore intriguing. At any rate, I'm moving on to book 3.
So Sophie has been captured by baghead, along with ahran who has been beaten pretty badly but low and behold ahrans sister comes to save Sophie.
The first couple of chapters were really disappointing because it was rushed and too neat, hardly any details, just very convenient. The characters were ok but I found Sophie really flip floppy. She had gone from a devoted aunty to simply stepping aside and letting the king and queen take over the care of her nephew, whom her sister left in her care. The reasons were thin, there is no way you would do that. She seemed focused on getting some with ahran and the whole book seemed to be about them hooking up. Toby was just dumped on the king and queen when Sophie needed time to think, like wtaf, you just wouldn't do that, you would take him back with you. The next bit with the police, kidnapping etc was just totally unsellable. I get the Narnia thing, but it just left me disappointed because Sophies character has changed so much. She went on about Toby being the only family she had, to just accepting giving him up, her independence as a strong business woman went out the window as soon as she got free expensive clothes and living in luxury. I just could get on board.
Writing is good though but I didn't like the direction of the story or the main character.
I picked up the first book in the series shortly before Christmas and finished the last one two days ago. It's a long time since I devoured a series so fast! I'll admit it took me a bit to get into the characters in the first one and I was a bit nervous about where the tale was heading with the mention of other worlds and portals but I was swiftly hooked. The characters leap off the page at you from early on. I loved Ahran! If only there were more Ramians in the world! There were times when Sophie exasperated me as she can be riddled with self-doubt at times but then it struck me that I had become totally immersed in the plot! Highly recommend this whole series and wish that Ramia existed......sigh
This revised edition was really good. The story progresses: Sophie and Ahran's relationship develops, not always smoothly. This second instalment of this series is perhaps less dramatic than the first in the series but the characters grow in depth, and the story moves along. The writing flows and is well paced, and there are moments of emotional intensity that grip and surprise. This is a great series and I am really looking forward to the rest of it.
I didn't think the second book in this series would be as good as the first because tagans child blew me away, but how wrong was I. It had everything you could want in a book, suspense, action, humour, made me cry and most of all a good old fashioned love story. you know you have read a good book when you can't stop thinking about it. The author Amelia Ford is amazingly talented.
I loved the first book & couldn't wait to read this the second especially as Amelia allowed us a sneaky peak at a snippet. If you can suspend your belief of the every day & allow yourself to imagine another, more evolved, better, more beautiful world that exists alongside ours, then you're in for a treat. Amelia's books have a bit of everything, suspense, thriller, romance & a bit sex
I love the Tagan series!! I've just reread the first books and it was like the first time again! I have been anticipating this finale and Amelia didn't disappoint! Now disappointed that it's finished!
