Determined to return a good deed, Isabelle Sweeney refuses to leave Asher Walker in peace until he agrees to stop his self-imposed seclusion and connect with other people. Finding him every inch as stubborn as herself, she offers a compromise: she’ll stop hiking to his cabin if he’ll agree to partner her on the scavenger hunt, participate in one Founder’s Day activity, and escort her to the dance. After that, he could go back to his lonely existence without her interference.
After the death of his fiancée, Asher has no intention of interacting with others. His presence puts people at risk, and he refuses to injure anyone else. But when Belle vows to keep visiting him, he reluctantly agrees to her three demands. However, after his final task, he would return to the mountain without looking back.
Their pasts force them apart, but there’s something between them neither can deny. Can they push past their fears and come together…or will history repeat itself?
Daniels has officially gotten me addicted to this series. I want to be annoyed that I'm hooked on such short reads that are highly predictable, but then I move on to the next mail-order lady, hoping to see how all the ladies end up living their lives. Belle and Asher's story is sweet and funny. While, once again, there is the almost instant love that somewhat annoys me in romance novels - it works in their story. Again, I just wish the entire book was longer - not so much for further plot development ( I would have enjoyed), but more for character development. I felt like we were missing a better understanding of both Belle and Asher that would have made the book even better.
Asher has made a home in the mountain with no desire to interact with the townspeople other than when he buys his supplies. Belle, one of nine mail order brides who were all summoned by the same man who passed away before the ladies arrived, is having no part of that. She takes it upon herself to visit him each week even though he won't talk to her or let her in until the day she comes close to being attacked by a bear. He then lets her in and his fate is sealed.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. Asher leads a solitary life in a cabin in the mountains. He is afraid of caring about people because he thinks death follows him wherever he goes and takes away the people he cares. Belle is a stubborn and kindhearted woman who out of kindness is trying to get to him. A good story, well-written and very enjoyable. It’s about honor and kindness. It has funny situations that keep me laughing.
This is Asher & Belle's love story, book 3 in the series but can be read as a standalone. I love how persistent Belle is when trying to get Asher to rejoin the living. Asher has become somewhat of a recluse & won't leave his cabin in the woods due to his painful past. This is a cute, clean & sweet romance. I only wish each story was longer & more were available in paperback. I love diving into the world Janelle Daniels has created.
I am reviewing this book for the author but it is my honest opinion. Belle is a fiesty, driven woman who has set out to bring Archer back to the community (whether he wants to or not). Archer wants to stay hidden away in his mountain cabin because he feels like he makes bad things happen. (Silly I know) Spending time with Belle shows Archer that life is worth living and maybe he will even find love right under his nose.
The third book in the series. I enjoyed it. I liked Belle's perseverance with Asher. Unfortunately, this may be where the series ends for me, as the remaining books are only available with Kindle (why the first three were in print and the remainder not, I do not understand), and I do not have Kindle.
Another book in this series is finished and it was just as good as the other two. Jane!le puts so much feeling onto her books. Feelings of love , friendship, and family . I hope you will try her books.
I love strong women and the nine women in this series are more than strong, they are awesome. The series gets better and better. I hate to take any time away from reading. The characters are fun and real.
I liked Asher and Belle. I thought them realizing they cared about each other happened too quickly, but that's due to the novella length. They had great chemistry though. And I liked how Belle brought Asher out of his shell. So far, my favorite couple out of the bunch.
When a determined female get a goal and get a strong mind and purpose nobody is going to stop stop her for getting it. Love the tenacity to get what she want no matter what has to be face.
This series is wonderful. The characters are rich and the storyline is great. I love the way Janelle writes. This is Belle’s story and it’s ripe with details about life in Montana in the 1800s. I hope you’ll get the entire series and I know you’ll enjoy it.
I loved reading this story with a woman who is persistent in reaching through a man’s resolve to be forever alone. How she gains his love after all he has been through in life is not just what could have happened, but does happen all the time.
This is the 3rd book in the series of Mail-Order Brides left without a match. Ivan passed away before the arrival of not one, but 9 potential brides! We follow the path of Belle Sweeney, left with no home or choice when her parents passed away. After one of her fellow “brides” is abducted, and later rescued, she feels the need to break one of her rescuers out of his shell. Asher Walker is a self-made hermit, determined to not be a burden or be responsible for anyone else’s life. He lost someone close to him, and feels responsible for her death. When Belle starts coming around every week to bring him a basket of homemade goods and tries to break him out of his shell, he shuts her out. After a close-call, she asks for Asher’s help. They later come to an agreement that if he does 3 things of her choosing, she promises to stop her visits and leave him to his solitude on the mountain. Asher finds himself trying not to fall under Belle’s spell, but she’s witty, funny and nothing like he expected. I enjoy this series so much, while watching the pairing off of all the “brides”. They’re all different in their own way, and come from various paths in life. A delightful read, and I’m looking forward to the next one! *Clean Romance
Belle Sweeney once again went to Asher Walker’s cabin to get him to talk to her. She dragged along a large basket of food. She had delivered 7 other baskets, one each week, and he still would not talk to her. He had lost his fiancé who had been kidnapped, tied to a free, and killed by a bear. But his grieving had gone on too long now. Belle called out to him and told him she would not stop coming until he opened the door and talked to her. Then the door opened and a shotgun was pointed at her!
Despite everything, Belle has a plan and she won’t give up. Can she negotiate with the stubborn Asher? Can she save him from his self-imposed exile? Or will she have to give up on her plan.
The author gives us a strong female character who puts others first. She refused to allow Asher to lock himself away from the world because of a tragedy. She too is stubborn, but very loyal. This was an enjoyable read and I definitely recommend it. I voluntarily read a review copy of this book and my comments reflect my honest opinion.
A brilliant story. I loved Belle's determination and her passion to never give up and push things making Asher face his demons can't wait to read Janelle's next book in this series
Belle may just be the most determined and stubborn woman on the planet, but even she is doubting she will ever be able to bring Asher into the land of the living. I love how sneaky and underhand Belle gets when outwitting Asher, she is one of my favourite of the Brides. Asher is punishing himself for his failures, living in his prison in the woods. No matter how much he resists her Belle bullies her way through his defenses but she deserves so much more than he can offer. Can he ever forgive himself for his past mistakes and allow himself to look towards a future, love and a family? Really loved this third book in the series, thank goodness for Kindle Unlimited!
As hers determination to ignore Belle and to stay away from everyone was understandable but sad. But Belles cheerfulness and incredible stubbornness really made me smile. A sweet and enjoyable read.
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC copy of this book but any options are honest and my own.
This story is full of adventure. Love the characters and the way they fit so well together. Thank you so much for the book and I recommend this book and author to my friends and family. I so am starting the next book now.... The story continues.
