A great hunter and prey tale

Vengeance is best served cold. Unless, it's undeserving and you're a crazy person. This was a great story of friends in blue who must deal with the consequences of their jobs. They, and their loved ones, become prey of a man not quite right in the head. Brainstorming leads them on his trail and the hunter becomes the hunted. This book makes you look around and think which of your friends is the ride or die type who will stand by you no matter what. And the ending...pure gold.

COLD KILL by Pamela Cowan immerses the reader in the murder’s mind in the first chapter. I read the first paragraph at night, and decided to wait until morning as it was that disturbing. I had chills racing up and down my spine the entire time reading this book. The author is a master storyteller. If you are looking for a thriller look no further, think along the lines of Harlan Coben, Joseph Finder and Jonathan Kellerman.

Kayla a former police officer received gunshot wound which left her an amputee. She has been retired out of the department to a desk job as a Parole Officer. She keeps her self physically fit and even joined a volunteer search and rescue team. I must say Ms. Cowan portrays the life of an amputee and shows the daily struggles they go through so the reader feels the pain and hardships.

When a police friend’s wife and another’s girlfriend disappear without a trace the group of law enforcement friends forms a pact to hunt for the killer. Through their diligence they track down a suspect. But it’s too late for Kayla who is now in the killers sights. He kidnaps her.

There is a harrowing chase by the killer, and it left me breathless urging Kayla onward through the Mountains. Kayla being an amputee ups the odds that she won’t make it out, and will be recaptured during the horrifying chase.

The story is thrilling, the ending is satisfying, and I will read another book by this author for sure!
The only reason you might want to put this Cold Kill down, is to make sure you locked your front door!

When local women start disappearing, it’s up to the police to uncover what connects them, then draw the lines to who their attacker is and why. Pamela Cowan’s Cold Kill places readers, at times, in the mind of the attacker, then in the minds of his victims, then at the table with cops searching for solutions. Each point of view works convincingly in a story that combines physical ability and disability, mental stability and the slide to insanity, and the importance of friendship and kindness. It’s a truly scary story, sadly believable, and convincingly portrayed. Lots of action, lots of suspense, honest challenges, and an ending that’s both odd and satisfying. I enjoyed the read.

Disclosure: I’ve met the author online and found the book in a deal.

Took me a minute to get into this one but once I did I couldn't put it down. Some minor editing things and date miscalculations but they were easy to overlook. I always give indie authors more grace. Overall I would recommend it if you're looking for a good serial killer revenge story. I would have loved digging deeper into the killer's background and how the wife died.

Not bad

This book is good. Not gory, not really messy, just a good read. It took about 3 or 4 days of reading . Some chapters were so so while others were a bit better. It filled in the gaps.
