Simple CISSP

Rate this book
The CISSP certification is the gold standard for security professionals. This exam resource is up to date for the 2015 CISSP Common Body of Knowledge created by ISC2. SIMPLE CISSP has been intentionally kept as brief as possible without the 'fluff' many other tomes include. In the appendix is a complete outline of each domain including all terms and concepts that you will need to know for the exam. Each outline follows the chapters exactly so you can easily find more detail on each topic when you need to.

I grew up in the creative cauldron of nineties Manchester when Madchester rocked the charts and the Hacienda ruled clubland. The city has shaped me as a writer. I write thrillers and crime based on the fine folk of Manchester and Salford. The Little Girl Lost trilogy has however developed into an international thriller taking in Manchester, Morocco, London, Barcelona, Monza, Zurich, Moscow, Chechnya, Batumi and... Milton Keynes.

I listed to the Audible/Audio version of this to help me stay on focus during car rides. It usefully explained several topics and helped re-enforce topics that I'd forgotten or need more work on from class. The audible version did not have chapter topics which was difficult but not insurmountable; the author announces the topic at the beginning of each chapter (most chapters were in the 15-20 minute range making it ideal for commutes).

I listened to this entire book on audio twice. Then went back and listened to specific sections that I needed to get a better understanding of one or two more times. That consisted of about 50% of studying I did for the CISSP. I passed on the first attempt, but I don't know how close I was to passing. I think listening to this over and over again while driving or running, is a great way to completely immerse yourself in the material before a test. You'll start getting to the point where your mind starts recognizing what "sound right" and what doesn't, even if you don't know the answer to a question outright.

A lot of terms, but an in depth review of all things IT. From hardware, to wires, to protocols, to software, to encryption, to just about anything you could think of. A must read for anyone studying for the CISSP or wanting to get a broader understanding of all IT areas. When they say the CISSP is very thorough, they were not joking.

Decent study material. Very interesting concept to study for a test with an audio book. The reader was quiet and the audio ques were hard to hear. Not horrible and I would not expect it to be riveting.

A bit long, but lots of good content. The author is knowledgeable and understands the content which allows him to present it effectively.
