Rock Me

Rate this book
A bad boy rockstar needs a fake girlfriend…
Not a girl to fall in love with him when the cameras fall away…

When I walked into the party that night, I was worried about my black minidress being too short… I never realized that I was going to meet him.

Rhys Grant, lead singer of Misery, one of hottest bands on the freaking planet.

Rhys isn’t just any tanned, muscular bad boy dripping with sex appeal. He’s so hot he’s practically adonis himself. … and the way he sings… he owns that stage.

And he’s interested in me.

Well, okay, fake interested. He needs a sweet girl on his arm for the cameras, to smile and look like he’s settled on. Public Relations 101. I just happen to be in the right place at the right time. Right in the middle of that party, pulling down that mini skirt and feeling so out of place.

Of course I said yes! How could I ever say no? But the more I find out about Rhys, the more I see the man behind the microphone and tabloids.

I don’t want to be one of a thousand screaming fans. When he kisses me, when he touches me... suddenly I want to be his one and only.

Paparazzi, crazed band managers, overdoses… Rhys’ lifestyle will either drive me away forever or ruin me for all other men.

But one thing’s for sure… he’s going to Rock Me to my core.

Rock Me is a standlone rockstar romance of approximately 58,000 words. It includes no cheating and a happily ever after!

Just started. 2 chapters and I was done.
Was something like this:

My friend: I have a book for you to read. (Looking at me with a serious face).
Me: Ok. Which one? Is it good because you know I'm in a book funky after SOMETHING WORTH SAVING.
My friend. I just want to know if you would read further than me. It's ROCK ME from Vivian Wood.

I went to check if I had any books from her in my Kindle and I had one: KNOCKING BOOTS I gave one star.

Me: I think I'll pass 'cause I read one book of hers and rated one star.
My friend: just get my ipad and read it.
Me. Ok. I'm starting dinner. While I wait for the chicken to cook I'll start it.

Well... I started 20 min ago. 5 min it was all it took me to give up.

A virgin 22 yo "girl" who couldn't do anything wild because she was controlled by her parents. Does this happen? Maybe. I never met anyone in this situation. But it's real? Well.. I don't care because I don't to read about it.
But she has a fiancé of almost 2 years and she was so happy he was being patient with her because he popped the question because he was getting successful in the law firm he worked and "A shiny new wife was the next step in the plan. " (her words no mine). And of course "She had accepted his proposal eagerly, despite the fact that with his increasing success, the more arrogant and flashy he he had become. She figured it was just a phase he was going through, and that once they were married next year, he would settle down again. "
Virgin and delusional.
Let's keep in mind he gave her the security code for his condo. It will come in handy in chapter 2
Further in this 1 st chapter : anyway she was in a gala and was going home but got lost in the hotel and and got to the balcony where she found a man (probably the male mc) alone. Of course she thought he was the most handsome man she ever set eyes on and she was attracted to him but she couldn't think something like this if it wasn't towards her fiancé. He looked at her as well, and she apologized for interrupting.
And: "At that , she turned without waiting for him to say anything in return , and hurriedly made her way down the hallway, her face burning in humiliation".
I went to chapter 2 to try to understand the "humiliation " part. In my head there's a big question mark. What exactly was humiliating??
Chapter 2: she got in a cab and headed to her fiancé's house to surprise him after a long day of work. BUT " ...if he's tired when he gets home, or if he gets angry when he finds me there, she thought, I'll just apologize and leave". I'm still trying to understand this, but well.. if my fiancé got mad because I wanted to surprise him at his house... let's just say a break up was in order.

Aaannnd: she uses the security code he gave her last week so she could "bringing in his dry cleaning one afternoon". See!! There was a reason he gave her his security code. It wasn't for her to surprise him whenever she wanted and catch him cheating on her. What was she thinking??

I won't rate it because I didn't buy it. But if it was my money it would get 1 star, because there's no option for a zero here
My friend made it longer 6 more chapters.
I'm not that patient.

Some mornings just call for a little rock-n-roll and the beat of a drum to get ya going. So it was this morning and this one was quick and cute. The blurb says it all -- and my only complaint after falling for the cover and the temptation of adding another rocker to my list was that the book needed some serious editing. And that's why it got a star less than I otherwise would have given this one. I don't have much patience with careless and easily fixed errors.

The pacing of this too fast due to the novella length of this story. Neither the MCs nor the plot were fully developed. The foul language that the h uses also didn't make any sense given her strict upbringing. There were too many cliches jam packed into this story: catching a fiancee cheating on you, faking a relationship with someone famous, falling in love with said famous person, etc. This was a low angst way to pass the time and pretty safe, except for the H's previous history with women. If you're looking for a well developed story, don't bother with this. If you're not and can handle all the editorial shenanigans, give this a try.

Quick recap: Serena walks in on her fiancé going at it with another woman, so she flees, looking for a place to go. The sheltered twenty-something is hounded by both her mother and her fiancé to return to him, however she’s not interested in giving him another chance. She doesn’t want to be a trophy wife for an adulterer, so she sets out on her own to find herself. When she makes the acquaintance of Rhys, lead guitarist of the hottest band in the country, Misery, she enters into a fake relationship with him to help with PR for the band. But soon they find out there is more to the relationship, leaving them to sort out their feelings, as well as how their coupling will affect the band.

What follows is your standard, predictable rock star romance. Neither of the characters were particularly interesting and I didn’t care for the third person of the narration of the story. That angst level was pretty low, which I appreciated, however the predictability factor was strong. If you’re into quick contemporary rock star romances this might be up your alley, however it wasn’t up mine.

My biggest beef—unfortunately the author has done what seems to be a growing trend, adding a “bonus book” to the book. The problem with this is that this book, Rock Me, ends at 47%. So again, as I’ve said in other reviews, it’s very frustrating to get to the end of the book and find out that that is it. You expect more to the story, especially when the storyline isn’t particularly intriguing, and all of a sudden it just stops. It’s great that the author has included a bonus, in this case a military romance (not something I’m interested in, I don’t read military romance) however it was not advertised in the Amazon listing. I’ll try other books by the author however I really wish that it was better advertised what you’re getting, or just release a standalone.

It's okay

I liked the plotline however there was spelling/grammar errors & English expressions when "Misery" and Serena are from America. I don't usually give bad reviews. The story itself was interesting. It just became hard to read at certain points.

Cute as Hell

She really disliked stories in the third person and past tense, but was able to overlook this shortcoming for the very cute story. She thought Rhys was adorable. She thought this was a medium good way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Typical

Typical rock star romance only written in 1/2 of a book. There were so many typos that I felt like I had to read every page twice.
I didn't even read the second book I didn't have the patience to do the editing!

I have loved all of Vivian's books that I have read so far, but this is my favorite!! Serena Woods was sheltered and controlled by her parents all her life. She never went to college, but began working immediately in her father's company. She was engaged to an up and coming lawyer named Bryan. Her life was all mapped out. She attended a fund raiser gala with her family and pleaded a headache so she could leave. She made a wrong turn and ran into a mysterious, hot stranger. On the way home in the cab, she decided to surprise her fiance Bryan and go to his apartment to make him dinner since he couldn't make the event with her due to work. She secretly thought maybe she would finally give her virginity to him. She was 22 years old and maybe it was time. She let herself in and heard strange noises. She caught Bryan in the middle of sex with another woman! She ran to her lifelong friend Josh's apartment and fell apart. After staying the night she went home and Bryan and her mother ganged up on her as soon as she walked in. After a huge fight, she through the engagement ring at him and locked herself in her room for a few days. She fought with her parents trying to get them to let her go to college to be a designer like she dreamed of, even showing them her drawings. They were nasty and her mother expected her to get back with Bryan and just forgive him. She packed her bags and went back to Josh's house. Her friend Mary and her sister talked her into going out and they were invited to a Misery party for the famous rock band. She ran into that mysterious stranger again. After spending the evening talking, she found out he was in the famous rock band. She was mortified. The next day the famous hot guy, who's name is Rhys, came to where she lived and gave her a proposal she couldn't refuse. Play his fake girlfriend to try and get the band's image back up. Little did she know her whole life was about to change again...She was treated like a princess and grew so close to the band members. But a hot rockstar like Rhys couldn't fall for her could he? Things were a little crazy and one night they ended up making love. After that they were inseparable and couldn't keep their hands off one another. You thought there was drama before, wait - so much more happens. Hot, hot sex, past issues, rehab, misunderstandings, a surprise kiss, angry words and more. Don't miss out on this book!!

It has a slow begging. I got bored with Serena’s drama and pick up another thing before coming back to finish this.
We get a first glance at the main male character and have a few chapters before anything happens.

The band’s leader man, Rhys, needs someone to take the heat of his band mates while they come up with a new album. His best idea? Get a fake girlfriend. Serena is jobless, homeless and pennyless. So when he offers her a place to stay and the money she needs for design school, she agrees.

Serena and Rhys easily start pretending for the press and soon they start blurring the lines between them as well.

I enjoyed this once the pace started going faster. Serena is trying to adapt to the band's life but some of them keep resisting. She's a great addition to their group, wheather they like it or not. I think that was a great touch, how she affected their lives little by little.
I also think she grew up a lot in this book. Going from spoiled girl to a more independant woman. She learn what she wanted to do and help the guys with their problems.

Serena's and Rysh relationship developed at a good pace and I think they both learn a lot from each other and made each other better.

Rock Me is a great read for everyone who loves fake relationships and some rock and roll in the mix

The story of Rhys and Serena captured me from the first page and I literally could not put the book down until the last page. I completed the tale in one sitting. Rhys is the hot guitarist of the rock band, Misery. Serena, not being a fan of rock music, had no clue who Rhys was when she accidentally bumped into him at a party. Soon thereafter, she entered into an agreement with Rhys to pretend to be his girlfriend in order to distract the paparazzi from focusing on the other band members with negative publicity. While this seems exciting and unusual to Serena, deep feelings began to grow and she constantly struggled between what was real and what was pretend. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. Five stars.

Rhys is a member of the band Misery he and his band mates are just coming off a tour to rest and relax at home. One of the band members has been having problems with drugs and their publicist has been trying to keep it out of the media. The band plays a gig at a charity event sponsored by Serena's parents this is where Serena first runs into Rhys but has no idea who he is. There is a certain zing between the two that can't be denied. The band needs to create a diversion so the media will be pre-occupied with something other than a band member in recovery so it is decided that Rhys will take a fake girlfriend and this person will be Serena. This fake romance starts out as just that but as time goes by things change and feelings get hurt - can they be in a real relationship or not?

Serena has been guided and ruled by her mom her entire life. She is engaged to the right man and works at her fathers law firm without any college education. One day she finds her finance in bed with another woman and walks away. Trying to better herself her parents will not support her and she is forced to crash with friends and learns to live! Serena bumps into a stranger not once but twice and it's no other than Rhys who is in the band Misery. He offers her a job as his fake girlfriend to get some positive press and she agrees. There are issues from the press and band manager. This is a uniquely story and I enjoyed how all the band members stood by one another. Being together they turned out the best in one another. I voluntarily received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

Rhys and Serena’s story is the retell of an acquainted topic:
Rock star meets young and innocent woman, both engage in a fake relationship to fool the media, both fall in love with each other for real and fight against some serious bumps along the way…

Nevertheless I enjoyed to read the book because Vivian Wood has her very own style to tell this story.
There are so many twists and turns, so many moments that make you hold your breath that you have to read on and on to find out whether both protagonists get their happy ending.

Good story, better than the usual pop star books in my estimation. had a lot of feeling behind it, not too much sex and drugs. Don't think it needed the language though, especially from a girl who was supposed to have lead a sheltered life. Other than that I liked it, very sweet romance. I would like to see Anders sorted out in another story. Could get a lot of mileage out of the rest of the band.

A enjoyable rock romance. Rhys a famous member of the rock band Misery is need of a fake girlfriend for the press to concentrate on and take the heat off of his band mates. When he meet Serene at one of the band's party he knows she would be perfect. She innocents and slightly immature and does know much about him, his band or rock music for that matter. This story is told in the third person POV and contains some hot sex scenes.

Not as long of a book as it seems...

This book is actually two books but I really wish it wasnt. There are a lot of spelling and grammatical errors that I was able to look past because I liked the book but then it was just over. There is so much more that I would have liked to know about and I feel their story could have easily been a full length book that I would have happily read. Not a bad book but slightly disappointing.

This is a really good read. Serena and Rhys are not supposed to be a couple but real feelings grow and the attraction is always strong for them. The writer did a great job creating the rock scene and the craziness of it all. Many times I don't really care for the arrogance of the rock starts but I liked Rhys.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.

Series??

I loved the storyline and it flowed extremely well. The author brought all the characters in especially the other hand members. But with her doing that it left me wanting to know more about the other hand members. Milo, Luke, etc. Please make a series with storylines for the rest of the band members.

WARNING-Book ends at 46%!!!

The story itself was just ok. A lot of spelling and grammar errors that distracted from it. It also was a tad unrealistic which I guess is to be expected in fiction. What really irks me is I paid for half a book. I will not be reading this author again. I hate being duped. Should have done more research.

Vivian Wood never disappoints

This story was awesome! I loved how the rock star world was portrayed in the gritty, true life way it is. Serena is a down to earth kind of girl which is what attracts Rhys. Vivian Wood always delivers a story I know I will become lost in.
