Emily Loring survived the last few years as a governess to a rich family's children. But when the lord of the house can't keep his hands to himself, she's left with no option but to risk everything as a mail-order bride. Raised in a New York orphanage, she's always dreamed of a husband and children of her own, but even that small dream always felt out of reach. The city is all she's ever known, but the promise of a family, a place to call home, drives her to risk everything and head for the wilds of the Colorado Territory, and the arms of a stranger.Ben Logan fell in love once, to a city girl who left him at the altar to run off with another man. A mail-order bride appears to be the answer to his need for a wife to warm his bed, as long as she loves the country life as he does. He doesn't need much, but he won't risk his heart again. When Emily arrives, her curves tempt him nearly as much as her smile. But his ex-fiancée is back, and determined to have Ben for herself, even if it means murder...
Cynthia Woolf is the USA Today Bestselling and award-winning author of eighty-five works of romance fiction. Comprising sixty-six historical western romances, ten contemporary romance novels, two contemporary romance novellas, one historical western romance novella, and six sci-fi space opera romances, which she calls westerns in space. Along with these books, she has also published twelve boxed sets of her books and two short stories.
Cynthia loves writing and reading romance. Her first western romance, Tame A Wild Heart, was inspired by the story her mother told her of meeting Cynthia's father on a ranch in Creede, Colorado. Although Tame A Wild Heart takes place in Creede, that is the only similarity between the stories. Her father was a cowboy, not a bounty hunter, and her mother was a nursemaid (called a nanny now), not the ranch owner.
Cynthia credits her wonderfully supportive husband, Jim, and her great critique partners for saving her sanity and allowing her to explore her creativity.

Colorado Bride, Matchmaker & Co. Book 4 Cynthia Woolf Sometimes love just is not meant to be. Ben Logan had just been left at the alter and he knew he would never love again. Soon Ben decides he still needed and wanted a wife and sough after the local matchmaker in town. With her help, he settled on a mail-order bride. After being fired from her governess position, Emily Loring seeks for comfort with a close friend. Realizing she would be a perfect match for Ben, Emily is convinced to become his bride. After meeting the decided to marry right away and start a new life together. Only Ben’s mother does not want to share and Melissa, Ben’s ex-fiancé, is in need of a husband. Together Ben and Emily learn they need each other and Ben realizes he cannot live without her. Will they both learn how to fully love each other while staying safe? I love a good old west mail-order bride story! I had no idea that this book was part of a series. I enjoyed seeing the transformation of love and forgiveness between Emily and Ben. Emily is a strong woman with a lot of patience. I admired her for loving even when it was hard. Ben is a true gentleman that finally learns how to trust. I recommend this book to anyone who loves a cute fun romance. It was a fun read and I truly enjoyed it. -Please not I received a advanced copy from the author. All opinions are my own.
"Colorado Bride" is another book for a reading challenge, and I read it while listening to the audiobook through the Anyplay audiobook app. Also, is the first time I read the books out of order because the challenge was to read a book set in Colorado. It is my first time reading a mail bride story, and it is interesting of the history. That men and women got married through correspondence. This is a very intense read with wonderful characters you can relate to. She gives you passion, chemistry that really has a strong pull but keeps it a clean read that really pulls you in. From the first moment that Ben and Emily meet you can feel the pull of attraction but neither is willing to admit it. There are a few surprising twists at the end you are going to love along with an epilogue that just leaves you smiling. If you enjoy reading a sweet clean western romance this is the book for you.
Cynthia Woolf has done it again in her newest addition to her Matchmaker & Co. series, “Colorado Bride.” Ben Logan had his heart stomped on when he was left at the altar by his wayward fiancé and he is determined to never love again. Ben finds himself in a quandary because he wants a family, but he does not want to be involved with anyone in the area because of his past, so he employs the services of Matchmaker & Co. to find him a bride. Emily Loring is in need of employment since she was just terminated due to situations beyond her control, and when her friend suggests she becomes Ben Logan’s bride, she is skeptical at first but realizes that she may finally get the family she has always dreamed she would have. Ben and Emily marry and find that they have a chemistry, but there are other factions do not want to see their union move forward. Can their marriage outlast an ex-fiancé and Ben’s mother? Read “Colorado Bride,” and look forward to the ups and downs of true love. I was given an advanced copy of this book, and all of the opinions expressed in this review are my own.
Emily Loring was raised in an orphanage, loved children, and was a governess until she was fired by a jealous and unbelieving wife. She went to see her friend, Sally, to ask her if she could stay with her and her husband. Sally works for a mail order bride agency, and told Emily that she had just the match for her living in Colorado: Ben Logan, who had been jilted by his fiancé. Emily hadn't been looking for a match, but she did want to be a wife and mother, so she left for Golden, Colorado. She and Ben married right away. He told her he would never love anyone again, but she fell in love with him. There were only three problems besides Ben not loving her: a very disturbed mother-in-law who hates her, Ben's ex-fiancé who wants him back, and a brother that Ben doesn't know about. You will have to read the book to find out any more, and you will love it.
I was given an advanced reading copy in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
A suspenseful Western romance, Colorado Bride has all the makings of a good book. The orphaned governess, Emily could be any one of us. She manages to look after herself just fine, despite her insecurities. She has wit and is capable, although self-concious about her weight. However, what woman isn't? Ben on the other hand is bitter and angry at having been jilted at the altar and while he recognises that he needs a wife, is unwilling to give his heart. When Emily arrives as a mail order bride, she and Ben hit it off right away, however as their relationship grows, so do their difficulties. This book had suspenseful moments in between a growing love story and both kept escalating right up to the end. I loved the main characters and found myself rooting for them, despite difficult circumstances. Mother-in-law jokes abound and this book brings out the worst in Ben's mother. One can just hope that Doris doesn't get her way and that Emily will win Ben's heart. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my hones and voluntary review.
A stand-alone book that is the fourth in the Mail Order Brides series. Another great addition to the Matchmaker & Co. mail-order brides series. We get to see a bit of the characters from the previous books and it is nice to follow up with them. The premise of this books is different from all the others, fresh and new. Leaving New York after being falsely accused, arriving to dislike and even hatred, our heroine survives two vicious attacks and a kidnapping before finding the love and happiness she wants and deserves. Great story.

Ben is left standing at the altar in front of the entire town and vows never to be in that situation again by never loving a woman again. He soon orders a mail order bride because he still wants a wife and a family but he insists he will never love her. This story is filled with intrigue. I had to continue reading to see what would happen next.
This author writes another heartwarming story of love and happily ever after. She also does a good job of putting enough intrigue to keep the reader wanting to read more. I would recommend this author to other readers who love to read western historical romance books.
This book has been on my TBR pile for a while. I saw it come up on audio and thought I would listen to it. I really enjoyed this book. I love the bit of sass the heroin in this book has. I also loved that she was a bit curvy. The book was well written and I loved the characters. The plot was very well done and kept me engaged and guessing.

A very good book to read. Cynthia Woolf has continued this series of Matchmaker and Co into book 4. A man is jilted at the alter only to fine love in a mail order bride. A mother in law who hates her, a ex fiancé who hates even more, and a brother is found. Quite an enjoyable book to read.
I loved this book. You start with deception Melissa leaving Ben at the altar. Ben decided to get a mail order bride and found a great women. Then we have a crazy mother to deal with. I won't give away the ending but it is a great book to read.
Great story. This author is a great storyteller.. Hard to put down
Great story by a great storyteller. It sure was not dull. Hard to put down. Really enjoyable story. Exciting, funny. I highly recommend to one and all.
Although this wasn't my favorite story, it kept my attention and all of the characters in the series were involved. Nice read but the Melissa and love thing was drug out to far.
Emily finally finds her place in life. She has a hateful mother in law who wants her dead and a husband who doesn’t know if he loves her. How is she going to survive or is she? Jo
This series has proven to be so welcome to my love of reading. It definitely kept my interest throughout and the characters weren't the usual. A crazy mother, A n ex-girlfriend who was also wacky and a mail order bride. Loved the whole premise.
The 4th in this series and I loved them all. I hope there are more in the future. For now I will start on another of her series. Thanks to Ms. Woolf for the great reading.
Ms. Woolf always knows how to entertain with style, romance, and excitement as she pulls her readers in giving you characters that feel like family, a plot that has a few twists, with vivid details that make you feel you are a part of her story. In her latest release Colorado Bride she gives you a story you can sink your eyes in pulling you in giving you a few smiles, and a little pull on your heartstrings as you turn the pages with a story that hooks you that you won’t be able to put down.
Emily life has not always been easy she was raised in an orphanage doing her best to make the best life for herself. She loves children and becomes a governess only to lose it when the children’s father can’t keep his hands to his self. She has always dreamed of having a family of her own. With her being jobless she has little options she decided it was time for her to start that family being a mail order bride.
Ben just can’t get a break in the love department and isn’t really looking for love since his was left at the altar by the women he gave his heart to. He longs for a family with children of his own. There is only one way to get them he must have a wife someone he can hopefully be friends with but there isn’t any way he will give his heart away again. He decides the best thing for him to do is get a mail order bride.
The author pulls you in with mystery, revenge, suspense, and a mother in law from hell. Let’s not forget the ex is back and she has her sights on Ben. Nothing will get in her way of having what she wants. She will get Ben even if she must kill to make that happen. Ms. Woolf spends a compelling read with vivid details hooking the read from the first page. The plot and the characters keep you spellbound making this a page turn keeping you in suspense with hold your breath moments that keep you on the edge. Ms. Woolf is one of my go to authors when I want a little inspiration mixed with excitement and suspense with a story that holds my attention that I know will be very entertaining. I love the plot, characters and all the twists that come with this story. ********************
I received a free copy but voluntarily reviewed it.
I have read several of Cynthia Woolf’s books, and I have enjoyed every one of them. The ones I have read have been historical Western books that involve mail order brides. All of the women use the same mail order company and, eventually, move to the same town in the Colorado Territory. This is the fourth book in the “Matchmaker and Co.” series. In spite of that, each of these books can be read, understood and, thoroughly enjoyed without having read the others. Out of the books I have read, I, actually, like this story the best.
Emily Loring is from New York and was raised in an orphanage. Since then she has been a governess to several families. She is fired from her last position due to a false accusation. Since, she feels the false accusation will keep her from getting another job, she decides to leave town. Eventually she decides to become a mail order bride.
Ben Logan was left at the altar by the woman he loves who ran off with another man. Ben does not believe he will be able to love again, but since he wants to have a wife and children, decides to have decides to visit the matchmaker to request a mail order bride.
Emily and Ben marry and begin their marriage. They other and are, immediately, attracted to each other and find their marriage thoroughly enjoyable.
Unfortunately, Ben’s mother, Doris, strongly dislikes Emily because she wants him to marry the woman who jilted him. Melissa. She bullies Emily and makes her life miserable. Also, Melissa returns to town and decides she still wants to marry Ben. The two women cause a lot of trouble for Emily and Ben. Actually, these are the parts enjoyed best.
Emily is a wonderful heroine because, even though Doris treats her terribly, she is always patient and cordial to her. I like Ben because he is a fantastic husband to Emily and treats her with respect and affection. However, there are times I want to slap him for the things he says to Emily and Doris. Also, in spite of the fact that he hates Melissa, he never believes she is a serious threat to Emily.
I highly recommend this book. It is a romantic book with lots of action and intrigue.
Emily Loring was raised as an orphan and at 18 had to make her own way as a governess, Having just lost her job because the man of the house will not leave her alone, she goes to her friend for help. A letter has just arrived from Ben wanting a wife and Emily seems like the best fit. Ben had been left at the alter once and doesn't want to love again but just enjoy his new wife. It takes threats to Emily to make him see he doesn't want to lose her but is that love? Good story as they try to work through their problems.
Another great book in the Matchmaker & Co series. He gets left at the alter and all he gets is a letter calling him and his way of life stupid. So what do you do when you want a family and dont even know if you can love anymore or youve decided you wont love anymore. Mail Order bride of course. i wont go into details only to say this is a fun ride and you wont be dissapointed to read this book.
This is the fourth book in the Matchmaker and Company series but will read as a standalone. Matchmakers help match grooms seeking a bride, and they have an office in Denver and one in New York, working together.
Emily Loring of New York was raised all her life in an orphanage and then when she turned eighteen, placed as a governess. She dresses in dull gray and does her best not to appear attractive, but that doesn’t seem to stop the children’s father from trying to paw at her, and the wife to fire her. Emily is now out of a job and home, so turns to her friend, Sally Wyatt. Sally is partnered with Maggie Black, and together, they have a gentleman in Colorado seeking a wife. At twenty-seven, Emily never dreamed she would become a wife, and hopefully someday a mother.
Ben Logan has spent months licking his wounds since he was left at the alter by Melissa Mills. He has sworn he will never love another woman again and be hurt. He also realizes he wants a wife and family, especially after watching his sister, Jane, with her husband Curt and their children. He goes to see his friend, Maggie Black and makes arrangements for a mail order bride.
The plot has mystery, suspense, angst, bitterness, lunacy, revenge, hatred, kidnapping, and murder. A man jilted, a woman fired and left destitute, an agreement for an arranged marriage, a hateful mother-in-law, are only a part of this story. How far will one woman go to get back the man she abandoned? Will Ben realize what a special woman he has in Emily before it is too late? The plot has some intense moments, life and death situations, along with a great cast of characters. Sometimes you have to nearly lose something precious before you realize what a valuable gift you have.
Colorado Bride by Cynthia Woolf is book 4 of the Matchmaker & Co. series. It has a groom jilted at the alter,a vengeful former bride(she jilted him) and the mail-order bride from New York city, who became his wife and his mother who is everything bad you have heard of in a mother-in-law. Cynthia Woolf keeps you interested, drops information in at the right places and makes you laugh and cry. Th email order bride business continues to boom. The details of life in the 1870's is very detailed and honest. The backgrounds of the main characters are revealed as needed so give you enough information to help you see things from both view points. This is Emily and Ben's story. Cynthia Woolf does not disappoint and has made a great addition to her series. This book does well whether read as part of the series or as a stand alone. I look forward to the next book in the series.
I was given an advanced reading copy in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I'm not certain how I found Cynthia Woolf's books, but I am so glad that I did. Now, I eagerly wait for each new release. Ben was left at the altar while waiting for his bride to be, Melissa. Frustrated and broken hearted, he contacts Maggie to obtain a mail order bride. Emily had just lost her job in New York because of an employer's wandering hands. She agrees to head west to marry Ben. Ben has a crazy mother, an even crazier ex-fiancé and a heart that doesn't want to break again. Emily is accepting of all and tries to break down the steel bars around Ben's heart. She is sweet, hard working and endures more than any new bride should have to. I enjoyed this new installment of the Matchmaker and Company. I received an ARC from Ms. Woolf. The choice to read and review was all mine.
Lovely romance, dealing with things that could happen to any of us. Emily, who came from an orphanage, becomes a governess. The man of the house wants her to be more, so she leaves and goes to a friend, who runs a mail order for brides. She meets Logan and so begins the romance If you need a light story, don't miss this one.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I am so glad that there is another installment to this series!!! I really do enjoy reading each stand alone while being able to get updates about characters from previous volumes. This was a lovely, sweet read. I thought it was written well, and I appreciated the plot aspects that made it stand out. Most definitely looking forward to the next book!!
This is the fourth book in this series. I loved reading them all. The story of Emily and Ben was a good story that brought you right at the center of the scenes. Emily was a very strong willed hard working woman that had a lot of love to give. Ben had been hurt before and didn't think he would ever love again, but he wanted a wife and children. Ben's mother didn't want anyone happy including herself. Good story.
