There are some stories poignant, inspiring, revealing hardships of life and unending struggle. It's one of those story, a true story at that. Reading it one feels grateful for what he has and what he is capable of if determined. I read when I was still in school, it was the best time to read it. I'm sure one day I'll pick it up again and this time the experience will be different. It on any account leaves reader sad and provokes thinking that our so-called-social norms are superficial and hollow, that our values, beliefs and tradition need re-thinking. It makes mind challenge the stratification of Hindu system and the restrictions put on people was a huge error of humanity. Btw, it's everywhere, not just India, that social norms went wrong leaving certain people fall pray to it. The forms are different and so were the impacts but it exists. An inspiring, thought provoking read..
