The story starts off with the main character, Megan, involved in a horrible car accident. I say accident but it soon becomes apparent that it may not be as straight forward as what Megan thinks it is.

Even though the police are investigating the accident, Megan decides to do some detective work of her own so that she can personally thank the man who saved her. The police as well as her own investigating soon starts to uncover something more sinister.

As crime is my favourite genre I have to admit that some of the surprises in the story I had already worked out. That didn’t spoil my enjoyment of this book though as the author as usual has written a story that readers will easily fall into and enjoy.

There is great characterisation and I really enjoyed the growing relationship between Megan, Will and Elliott. The relationship between these three is one that I was actually sad to leave behind when I finished the book.

The Wrong Turn is a highly enjoyable read and ideal for readers who love a good crime/suspense novel with the added bonus of a story line of romance running through it. It’s the perfect read to snuggle up on the sofa with and lose yourself to the outside world.

My thanks to the author for a copy of this book. All opinions are my own and not biased in anyway.

Megan Cooper is involved in a car accident that leaves her trapped in her burning car. Luckily for Megan someone comes to her rescue and gets her out before it bursts into flames.

Waking up in the hospital and lucky to be alive she has a vague recollection of a tall man carrying her in his arms but she soon finds out that no-one knows who he is as he left the scene once help had arrived.

After a few days in hospital and a couple of visits from the police who are investigating the accident, she's packing her bag when she finds an unfamiliar jacket in her locker. Realising that it must belong to her rescuer she decides that she's going to try and track the man down to say thank you for saving her life in person.

The police uncover some worrying information about a well-known criminal and Megan is forced to revisit her past.

The Wrong Turn is another cracking psychological thriller from author NC Marshall that skillfully combines crime and mystery with a light sprinkling of romance thrown in. Although the prologue was a little longer than most, I think that it needed to be to enable the reader to experience every aspect of the whole terrifying event. Once again this author has created a strong cast of believable characters within a story that is well written and kept me absorbed from start to finish.

This is NC Marshall's third novel and in my opinion her writing is going from strength to strength with each novel she writes and I would highly recommend that you give The Wrong Turn a go.

With kind thanks to author NC Marshall for the review copy.

From the very first page, the reader is thrown straight into the action of this fantastic psychological thriller. Megan Cooper has known loss in her life - first with the death of her mother when she was young, and more recently with the death of her husband. So Megan understands how fickle life can be and soon realises that she would have died when some maniac ran her car off the road and left her for dead if it hadn't been for the mysterious stranger who rescued her from the wreckage and then disappeared into the night. Determined to find her hero and thank him properly, she follows the only clue she has to his identity - a key with an address. But as Megan tries to uncover her own mystery, the police suspect that there was more to Megan's accident than kids messing around in a stolen car. Someone wants Megan dead and they must find out why. With plenty of twists, turns, and holy crap moments throughout, THE WRONG TURN by NC Marshall will have you second guessing all of the characters involved as well as yourself, as you try to figure out who is behind it all. THE WRONG TURN by NC Marshall is an excellent novel for those who love suspense, action, and characters that will get under your skin. And the setting is perfect too. A fantastic 5 star read for me!

Disappointing

I was looking forward to a novel set in Northumberland, but nothing was evocative of the area . A ridiculous unbelievable tale.

In my reading life I have found that there is one thing that you can always guarantee: NC Marshall will write a page-turning book that you can't bear to put down for a second. The Wrong Turn follows in the footsteps of NC Marshall's previous BRILLIANT books, Sleep Peacefully and See You Soon, that stick to your hand like glue until you turn the final page.

It starts with a bang as Megan is run off the road by an unknown driver and rescued from the flames by a mysterious stranger. Megan doesn't know who rescued her but he leaves behind his jacket and it has a key in the pocket. Megan just needs to find the lock it fits and she can find the man who rescued her, but she has no idea that she will find a lot more than she bargained for.

As Megan and her friend follow the clues to Megan's rescuer, they don't realise that they are putting themselves in danger. The same man who tried to run Megan off the road wants her dead and will stop at nothing to get his revenge. Revenge on Megan's husband, who apparently drowned whilst on holiday but with no body recovered, Megan half expects him to turn up on her doorstep one day and therefore can't move on with her life.

The Wrong Turn is another fabulous page-turner from NC Marshall. The reader is drawn in from the very first page with believable characters that you care about, and with so many surprises thrown in you simply can't put this book down! A fast-paced gripping read that will leave you open mouthed and goose-bumpy as you turn the final page.

I chose to read an ARC and this is my honest and unbiased opinion.

3.5 stars. Not the greatest book but not the worst. Fast paced. Lots of guessing. A little unbelievable in how the storyline linked but books are mostly like that anyway.

This was a really interesting story, it kept going from this-is-really-good to oh-end-allready-this-is-stupid to no-I-was-wrong-this-is-brilliant! But it wasn't boring and the characters were interesting.

Great Read for Mystery fans

Marshall has done a nice job of weaving together several mysteries (and a little romance) in "The Wrong Turn." The story opens with our main character, Megan (Meg), being run off a bridge, by an oncoming car, leaving her trapped in her mangled, fuel-soaked car. As everything around her begins to ignite, and Meg loses consciousness, an unknown stranger pulls her from the wreckage, seconds before the car explodes. As Meg recovers and police begin to investigate whether the "accident" was in fact just that or something more ominous, Meg begins to wonder about the man who saved her and why he didn't leave his name with first responders. Armed with one single clue, Meg sets out on a journey to find her hero, not only out of curiosity, but also to "Thank" him for saving her life; however, she has no idea what secrets lie in store for her, along with truths that will be revealed about her past that have made her a target for danger. Can she, alone, uncover the truth about her accident on the bridge? Is her hero who she thought he was??? dun dun dun Are the police right about their suspicions this was no run-of-the-mill accident? Mystery readers, read on! Marshall has written a mystery with several mysteries within. I read this book in two short sittings - I couldn't stop once I started. The characters are likeable and interesting, so much so, a few of them deserved more of a storyline. I would have liked more of a plotline for the detectives, but they served their purpose for this story and that's okay. I definitely wanted more of a story for Luke, but, he was just a supporting character here. He would be a great spinoff character, imo. Alas, not everyone can be the "lead." As for the ending? I was satisfied, annoyed, and excited, which are all good things. All in all, "The Wrong Turn," left me wanting more from these characters and from the ending, which is a good thing for an author ( I think?) This book deserves a sequel - I hope we get one.

First person present tense. Not rating.

The beginning irked me because a) why didnt she press the clutch and force the car into a lower gear? Or even pull on the hand brake (and yes, it can be done) and b) because I simply couldn't visualise the scene.

She is driving at night on narrow lanes, so she was probably doing something like 40mph at the most?
A car is hurtling towards her on the wrong side of the road, then she hits the bridge even as the car continues to speed towards her and no attempt is being made to slow it down. Its night time and the two cars meet in the centre of the narrow bridge -where there is not enough room to pass each other. So how does the other car 'clip' hers? It would be more of a head-on impact, surely? And then her car drives through the barrier into the forested area that surrounds them. She was on a bridge - so what is underneath? If there is a ravine, why didn't she plummet straight into that?

Probably my fault, but if I can't believe a story or 'see' the action in my mind, then I stop reading.

Thoroughly entertaining

Wow! What a powerful prologue. I was already biting my nails before the first chapter. A great paced book with an intriguing plot. Had me guessing throughout. Very twisty, and the end? Well I didn't see that coming! It's one of those books I can see becoming a great film thriller. A good mix of interesting, believable characters with a bit of romance weaved into the story. Such a satisfying read and highly recommended.

A will written British romantic relationship murder mystery adventure thriller novel by N C Marshall about a young woman 🚺 who has lost a husband 18 months ago yet is haunted by the memory of him. Then murder happens and the fun really begins. I would highly recommend this novel to readers of mysteries. I do not know how this book is's way into my to read list, I just do not remember. But this is genre is not my cup pf tea at ALL!
The story is just simple, there are no interesting twists, I was able to predict, I would say, half of the main events.
It is a puzzle to me why people read these kinds ob books.
I cannot rate this book highly or recommend it to someone, because it is simple and rather eventless.

The Wrong Turn

Wow! Again this Author as given me an outstanding cast of characters & a mind boggling storyline that twists & turns every which way to read & enjoy. Again, an ending that leaves the reader with questions, you know the bad guy didn't get away with his crime, but you kind of want ...more.

Great read. Enjoy.

I have to admit, I wasn't fully drawn in from the beginning of the book. It was slow and none of it seemed to make a lot of sense. However, at about the 45% mark, everything started to fall into place. The pace picked up, more clues started to come out, and I began to care about the characters a lot more. It was a fun mystery and I read the last 55% in one sitting.

Excellent story from a new favorite writer!

This was a terrific tale with cleverly written characters in a suspenseful format. A few surprises, as well as some misdirection, add flavor to an already tasty novel. Well done!

I am on a suspense kick with a touch of romance I crave and NC Marshall fits perfectly. This is my second read by the author and I loved every second. The only downside? I didn't want the book to end.

Well written

No page long descriptions of the shoes, suit, purse or hairdo, just short but compete descriptions of the people involved. Lots of twists to keep you guessing. British idioms throughout. Characters are mostly believable and not examples of broken people.

Good storyline, although simplistic and predictable. It was a good book for the airplane. Enjoyed the British sentences once again. How often do you hear of a “bloke”?

Quick read

Somewhat predictable in trying to be unpredictable. Not bad. Okay character development. Some typos. Lots of exclamation points when unnecessary. A nice quick read that is interesting enough, but doesn't keep me awake finishing it at night.
