I had a time a few years back when I was devouring rocker romances, but then that tapered off, but I was left with fond memories and the occasional craving for more band life, music and spcy hot romancing. I had always wanted to try this author's work so when a reading challenge had me searching for a rocker romance, I thought now was the time.
Rush of Insanity is a quick, hot standalone second chance romance for a lead singer who gave a woman space the first time when she upped and ran with no explanation because she couldn't handle her feelings, but now she's back and he's feeling it still and wanting his answers.
So, in a nutshell, I was less than impressed. Harper ran because she caught feelings and then she can't deal. She still can't deal and apparently other than off the topic snark meant to keep things off point, she can't open her mouth and have a needed conversation. This pair were combustible, but that is all I was getting from it. This was a novella and a swift reunion, I get that, and I get that things had to move along, but this story drove me nuts. I saw potential in the author's writing and plot premise, but the execution fell shy. I honestly never got what Harper's hang-up was. This was a great guy who laid it all out there for her and gave her no reason to doubt and yet she did. I needed to know more than she doesn't see herself well and she can't see this working out. I need a why after I had to sit through her mess. The hot encounter wasn't enough.
In summary, this was a disappointment. I will give the author's books another try particularly the novel-length because I didn't hate her writing and I want to try a different rocker romance from her.
