This is a dual review for the first three books in Ednah Walters Phantom Islanders series. I started with ARC’s for the first two parts, but loved Storm & Storm Revealed so much that I just had to read Storm Unleashed as well.
There is so much story told across the three books that you just get immersed in the world that the author has created, the Phantom Islanders live through the Veil, and although they visit our world on occasion to harvest females to take back to the Island of Vaarda. this is done to give the male islanders the opportunity to find a mate, as women are in short supply. It’s on one of these visits to earth that Storm Orath picks up Lexi Greendale’s scent, and once he has her back on the island he makes it his mission to prove to her that she is his one true mate.
"I will not obey you. I will fight you every day until you let me go."
Initially Lexi is less than impressed with being kidnapped and taken to what is essentially another world, Storm is adamant she’s his true mate and sets about proving to her with his every action, thought and reaction to her attempts to escape, resistance to his charms, and disinterest in getting to know the people of Vaarda.
"You may call us pirates, but we prefer the name islanders."
As the story moves along it doesn’t take Lexi long to realize that Storm and his people are more than they initially seem, and I absolutely loved each and every second of the adventure of discovery she goes on.
"You are breathtaking..."
"And you are aggravating."
The verbal sparring between the two of them had me giggling, the sweet and endearing bull-in-a-china-shop style Storm uses in trying to woo Lexi had me sighing and giggling like a coquettish maiden in a historical novel and the sexual tension that the author drew out between them over the three books, well I was frustrated for them!
"When I claim you as mine, I’ll do it openly and in front of my people."
If you haven’t already guessed I will reiterate that I absolutely loved these books. Ednah is an author new to me, and what a discovery! I am lucky to have a wealth of books to read from this author now, but I have to admit, I am dying for more from this series, with so many characters and backgrounds to delve into, I have a feeling this is a series I will be reading eagerly for years to come.
"We belong together."

Okay, this is Part I of my New Adult/Upper YA urban fantasy series. I have an amazing plan for this new series. Actually, I'm excited and nervous because this is the first world I've built since I started Runes Series in 2013. It was amazing to research certain periods and mythologies... that's all I'm saying cause no spoilers.
If you like magic, sword-fights, feisty heroines, raw, flawed heroes, mythologies, you will love Phantom Islanders.
This is your typical first book. There was a lot of world set up and character establishment.
I came out of this book with so many questions. For a first book, that's good. It keeps me intrigued enough to continue. I found the H and h's relationship interesting, though not too hot, as it is YA going to NA in later books.
That said, the beginning did a great job of showing what her life was like "before". Her worries are valid, and she's not perfect by any means. A few of the characters I wanted to know more. I get why we only got a 2d version of a few, as they weren't really there and thus we get just the one POV. I want to know more about them, though. There is so much motivated by them that I think seeing them later and fleshing them out will be good.
The second half was far more exciting. The action, tension, and plot that will drive the series was there. I found the characters interesting and well done. Knowing this author, the rest of her series will be on par with the second half.
So, for a first book, it was pretty good. The beginning wasn't the full plot of the series, though, at least it had purpose to really establish the h's goal. I love that.
I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. I will admit I was pleasantly surprised by this book! In the beginning, I was like what is this evil-step mother shit I got myself into. Lexi’s mom was horrendous! After all her blaming, and putdown’s I almost threw in the towel. I was like this is stupid, and borderline unbelievable. There was certainly a few eye rolling moments. Like wow that was corny.. ”The man might not be my brother…. But history was not going to repeat its self”. Early on I felt as if Lexi’s character and her words contradict each other, like who is the real Lexi? It wasn’t until a good portion into the book I realized this chick has spunk. I was completely engrossed in the short book from start to finish. Good Job Ednah, I am off to read book 2!
Ok, I'll admit that I am a humongous Ednah Walters fan and have loved every single thing that she has written so far. Storm however is something completely different from her previous books so I will admit that I was a bit apprehensive at first when I heard pirates mentioned. Yes, I enjoyed Pirates of the Caribbean but reading about them is completely different to watching a movie on the screen and I have never really been drawn to picking up a pirate book before.
Oh, how Ednah Walters has completely thrown my thoughts on that straight into the water. Storm has stamped all over my original thoughts of pirate books and shown me how wrong I was! Storm swept me right up into it's clutches and had me consuming the book in one sitting. I loved it, no I floved it. I don't think I can wax lyrical enough about how much I enjoyed this book. After I put it down I went back and re read it all over again. The characters are just so well built and put together that they feel real. The world building is amazing, I mean I felt like I could smell the salty sea air at times and that I was in that ship's cabin right along with Lexi, feeling all that she was feeling.
I love that Ednah hasn't shown Lexi, the main female character, to suddenly be falling happily into place with the sudden changes she experiences in this book. Ednah shows that she's scared of what's happening around her and makes her feelings and apprehension of the new strange world real to us, and I think that's what made me enjoy this book even more because it felt realistic.
Now Storm is a serial, which means that this book is a little shorter than you may be expecting and that it may feel like it ends sooner than you thought, however essentially it's just a massive book that's been split into three separate books. I know that these books will also be released in quite quick succession so that shouldn't really take away any of your enjoyment from what is an amazing read.
This part of the serial gets the full five stars from me (and if I could give it more then I would). I really enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to get my grabby little hands on book two. A tremendous job has been done with this book by Ednah Walters and I congratulate you in changing my mind on pirates, thank you.
Quite a short book. I did enjoy reading this and look forward to the next. Lexi is 18 and a very responsible young woman. She has lost her parents but has a younger half brother and a stepmother. She would do anything for her brother as he is in a wheelchair after an accident. But she is abducted by some strange men and brought to an island on the other side of the 'veil' which separates our world from a mythical one. She is told she is the mate of Storm, the ruler of the island.
The story is intriguing but also frustrating. Young women are 'harvested' to be mates to the young men of the island. Why? Is there a shortage of women? How can they be sure they are true mates? Storm is obviously enamored with Lexi, but does not seem to care about what she had to leave behind (which also counts for the kidnapped women). The relationship between Storm and Lexi is also a bit odd. He knows she is his mate, but she is just pulled into a strange world as - let's just name it properly - a captive. I also thought it odd how easy Lexi reacted to all these strange events. I mean, it is not as if she had a choice, but she does seem to take it in stride. She is only 18 but seems older. The story how she started as a nanny at age 12 seems implausible.
The writing style is good and the world building is good enough for the story. It is a nice touch to have Lexi discover things through reading the books she finds. At the same time there should be more character building. We hardly know anything about Storm. Lexi is portrayed as feisty but she is also behaving as a bit of a martyr (is her brother's accident really her fault?).
I am curious enough to buy the next as this one ended rather abrupt and there are 3 parts. Note: I do not really like this trend of one book broken up in parts. The books are just a bit over 200 pages each and with a bit of editing it could be one book. The price of 3 parts makes the book expensive.
Storm is the first serial I've read and I must say that its brevity and abrupt ending make it quite hard to be patient for Part II! Walters creates a magical world quite different from her YA Norse series but equally vivid; the iconic and descriptive way she portrays her old fashioned pirates really gave me clear visuals of them and their island. I give it fewer stars, though, because I found the characters a little too frustrating to be pulled into the story. The leading lady, Lexi, is an abnormally responsible teenager who takes her responsibilities to heart, but throughout the story her dedication to them, her maturity, and her fierce independence waver inconsistently. She seems to let the mysterious and inhuman Storm, her self-proclaimed "mate", kidnap her with little resistance, making their relationship too disconcertingly stockholm-like for me to approve of. On the other hand, being a New Adult story, you'll love the romance in this one if you like the steam Walters heats her adult books with. If you're a fan of romance, fantasy worlds, and magic, then grab this quick read, and prepare to wait for the continuation of the story!
I simply LOVED this story, from start to finish I was hooked! The storyline is so creative and addictive and the characters are unique and amazing. I was completely riveted throughout, it killed me to put the book down so I could sleep.
Storm is just so dreamy and sexy as all hell. I just adored Lexi, she's witty and has got a strong backbone, I loved her exchanges with Storm, I think he did too lol.
I loved every minute of this story and I'm going to be sitting on the edge of my seat till I get to read part two.
Original Interest: Well, her nickname is Lexi. I have a long history of wanting to read books that involve either my nickname or my full name. Call it ego. Also I like pirates and folk seem to enjoy Walters "Runes" series so I figured why? Isn't the cover very pretty as well?
Where it started to fail for me: Her best friend, in the beginning grated on my nerves almost from the second Lexi picked up her phone call. Their entire conversation consisted of the friend complaining because Lexi can't pick up her phone during work (which is reasonable), egging Lexi on to hook up with either her boss or her charges' bodyguard, complaining that she was tired of being a virgin, her plans to lose that viriginity as quickly as possible so she can "par-tay" during college properly and then complaining that Lexi can't have her boss fly her out on his private jet. I wanted to slap her so hard. I moved past it though because I wanted to see where this was going.
Why I stopped: Lexi was just unbelievable to me. Maybe because I have experience as a nanny for wealthy families, her life seemed...unrealistic. I couldn't get past the fact that she was twelve when she began nannying (though it was really more like paid companion/helper to the mother for a while), that for all the fact the family was willing to house/feed/accommodate her schooling needs they didn't once question how terrible her home life was, the utter repulsiveness of her stepmother and the niggling sensation that something wasn't right with her half-brother's condition.
Eventually I grew too annoyed. So to the DNF pile this went.
An interesting new fantasy series. I really like this new world and definitely can't wait to discover more and uncover the different mysteries. I enjoyed the characters and want to learn more about them especially Storm. Like the main character I'm not sure what to make of him quite yet. I look forward to see what happens next. I voluntarily reviewed an arc from the author.
I loved this book. I can't wait to read part 2. I can't wait to find out more about this awesome world that she has created and the way that storm and Lexi relationship moved forward. Another great book and a must read.
Holy Pirates! I am blow away with this story. The world is amazing. It sucks you in and it makes you wish you could be right there. I always love Ednahs books and this was absolutely No exception. I Need the next installment- like yesterday. I think you will love Storm and the beautiful world he calls home. This is certainly a Must read. Especially if you love Ednah Walters then you will love this.
I wasn't sure what to expect from this book, but I've definitely never read anything like it. I love that it's supernatural, but to my knowledge not a touched subject before.
Pirates, magic, a secret island, soul mates and more in this fantastic story of a girl trying to work to provide for her brother and money for college with no interest in love or a magical world.
I couldn't put this down and read it in a few hours. I can't wait for book 2.
I approach every book that I read with the sincere hope that the author will show me something original and creative. If they can match that with a well executed plot and some solid mechanics, I’m happy to read every book they’ll ever write.
Admittedly, after reading the first few pages of Storm, I wasn’t sold. The beginning hinted that it would take the same predictable path as many others, and the characters seemed irritating at best. I executed a perfect eye roll and resigned myself to reading as fast as I could so that I could move onto something more interesting. The good news was the book was on the short side and the narrative read fairly fast.
Lexi. Babysitting. Buoyant best friend. Wicked stepmother. Handicapped little brother. Wealthy benefactor. Mysterious alpha male. Pirates.
Wait. Pirates? Okay, here was something different.
As it turned it out, these pirates were not the typical sort. The author’s put a great deal more effort into their creation than simply casting some characters from the same old molds. I may have been doubtful at the start, but once Lexi was aboard the Mac Lir, I was riveted. I finished the entire book in one day.
The world the author has created is rich, well-crafted, and filled with many secrets. The characters are deep, dynamic, and well-developed. (Except for Lexi, but there are signs that she’ll redeem herself at some point.) The storyline is intriguing and leaves you wanting more. As this is the first part of a two-part installment, the author gives just enough to get you hooked before the book ends. It’s a clever trick, and I’ve taken the bait. I’ll be lining up on May 30th to obtain Part 2, hoping that it will answer the five thousand questions that Part 1 has left rattling around in my brain.
The story itself is worth five stars. I’m giving it four for a few reasons. One, I’m not a fan of Lexi. If she’d listen to reason without immediately rebelling and hating on everything, she’d probably be a lot better off. Two, there are still traces of the typical, tired devices used here and there. Three, (this is just me being picky) the author can be repetitive with her phrasing.
This was a good read. An enjoyable read. An “I ignored the cries of my children because I had to get to the end” read. But now I need more. May 30th can’t get here soon enough.
Review: While reading this novel, I was transported to a place that took my mind away from all of the daily struggles. I sincerely enjoy books that involve character transportation from our current world to another. It triggers my imagination and makes me envious of the characters. Due to my inability to put this book down and the fact that I truly felt as so I was the one who was being swept away, the reading immersion is impeccable and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an escape read. The heroine, Lexi, is incredibly relatable as an 18-year-old woman who has a tragic past with the loss of both of her biological parents. Her step-mother treats her like dirt and she feels an incredible amount of responsibility to care for her younger half-brother. Lexi also nannies a young girl who lost her mother and their connection is admirable. Although I generally like Lexi, there comes a point when I started to find her annoyingly close minded and judgmental. She would repeat the same thoughts about Storm and his people, which limited the potential for her character to be more dynamic. Instead, she came across as biased and only having a one-track mind. Granted, readers get to see her develop immensely as time goes on, but there was definitely a stagnant period. Storm's character on the other hand is incredibly dynamic and the essence of every woman's bad boy fantasy. Overall, I enjoyed the character development despite the difficulty I had with Lexi. The plot of this novel is creative and whimsical. I really enjoyed understanding what Walters was trying to convey about pirates and I think that the society she created is fresh and contemporary. I did receive an advanced reader's copy of this book, so the editing was not quite where the published version is, but there was not a consistent amount of errors that made reading difficult. Her writing takes the point of Lexi, which I didn't mind because we were still able to bare witness to what Storm was feeling.
Recommendation: I recommend this to anyone who enjoys whimsical fantasy that also has steamy romance, adventure, and action!
Stars: 5 Chapters: 11 chapters Length: 252 pgs Tense of Story: Present – First person POV: Lexi Genera: New Adult, Science Fiction, Fantasy, & Historical Fiction MF / Profession: Lexi – 18 yr old nanny MM / Profession: Storm – Pirate/ Peoples Leaders Location: Vaarda / Location somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean
I want to really like Lexi, she wants to be this liberal strong woman. However, sometimes she kind of takes it overboard. She’s 18 and she is for the, most part, very mature for her age. She is responsible and filled with guilt for what happened to her brother and will do anything to get him to walk again.
Storm (love the name by the way) is a great, strong, alpha male that knows what he wants. He has some imposing unique qualities *wink wink*. You cannot not fall in love with his characters. He is a good leader, and very sweet Neanderthal/cave man character quality and did I mention he is the caption to a pirate ship. But not a pirate that we are used to, they don’t plunder, raid, and kill. Well…. yes when I put it that way they are like those pirates, but nicer. haha
Author did a great job creating this awesome new world. As I was reading the story it was very well written that I was able to see in my mind, the characters, location, situations, everything she described was very detailed .
The story is face pace and funny but there is one down fall, it does leave off on a really nail biting, aggravating cliffhanger. But because I do love Storm’s character and can’t wait to see what comes next I will be patient till the end of the month when the second part comes out. Please please Ednah, let me review the next book.
What a fantastic read!! Never a dull moment through the entire book. I absolutely loved how Lexi was strong, a fighter and didn't bow down to Storm or anyone else. She was always looking for a way to escape home to her brother, in spite of her growing feelings for Storm. Love love love the action, magic and the beautiful island!. The only thing I didn't like, but they might explain in book 2 was the way they kidnapped women to be "mates" with their men and the other dis like was the way Storm completely ignored Lexi when she told him her brother needed her. His response was, "but I need you more!". Really!?? Her brother needs a surgery which could be life altering. Again, it might explain things better in the next book but I was ticked off that he wasn't even thinking about her feelings. That was very selfish and yet....he shows a softer side to him as well, throughout the book. I hope Lexi hangs on to being herself and not let them manipulate her into the way they dress just because that's the way they do it. She likes to wear shorts, sports bras, tank tops and underwear for crying out loud but they go commando, even the women do so they try to change her to dress their ways. Ok, so I get Storm and his pride factor in front of his people but why can't we have a hero every once in a while compromise and say, sure that's ok if you want to wear that or maybe we can bring your brother here to help him or sure you can visit the girls we kidnapped so they won't be so scared?? ok so it sounds like I'm angry (lol), but I'm not really. I just hope Lexi doesn't get pushed into being a doormat and Mister He-man control her. Ok....I digress again. LOL Honestly liked this book a lot. Didn't leave with a huge cliffhanger.
I was given Storm: Phantom Islanders as a Goodreads RIRI and it is the first book I have read by Ednah Walters. I can honestly say that it definitely was not a disappointment. We start by learning about Lexi and her life as a nanny for Mr Sinclair's daughter whose mother died when she was about 2 years old. Lexi's mother also died when she was young and her father remarried. He later died leaving Lexi with a stepmother and half brother, Tommy. I got the evil stepmother vibe here as Lexi's stepmother blames her for Tommy's accident a couple of years ago which left him in a wheelchair, although it was not Lexi's fault at all, and her stepmother keeps phoning requesting Lexi transfer the money she has earned over to her stepmother as she can't work full time and look after Tommy as well. So she guilts Lexi into supporting them even though she knows Lexi is saving for college next year. Lexi is due to leave on a cruise with Mr Sinclair and his daughter the next afternoon when she meets Storm and his 'crew'. After a couple of bizarre encounters in which Storm reveals she is his mate that he has been searching for, she ends up being kidnapped by Storm and wakes up on a ship in the middle of the ocean. Lexi is desperate to get back to Tommy as he needs her to support him but after a number of failed escape attempts she lands on a mysterious island and discovers she was not the only woman kidnapped ... I found the island intriguing and cannot wait for the next instalment to reveal some of the Islanders secrets and mysteries. Horses??? There is definitely something going on with those horses! And Lexi definitely cannot deny that there is a connection between her and Storm.

Enter the world where Atlantis and Avalon exist in reality and not as myths, the world where pirates are still a thing, the world were (soul)mates are a thing; the world of Islanders.
I expected a fantasy, I got so much more. It's both sweet and sexy story of I'm-in-love-with-you-and-even-if-you-aren't-now-you-will-love-me-when-you-stop-resisting, then it's a story of another race altogether, of their world, their practices, their habits. It's a story of a human girl that went through so much as a child and a young girl, now ready to sacrifice her own chance at happy and fulfilled life to help her younger brother, that finds herself in a world that might as well be flipped upside down from what she was accustomed to in the world of humans. She's - and quite literally - swept off her feet. A story of man - well, an Islander - that's the definition of tall, dark and handsome, a mysterious fella that I look forward to finding out more about in the books that follow.
One thing about Storm and Lexi is clear, though: they are meant to be together. Will they be able to carry through all the obstacles to be together? That remains to be seen. I'm now diving into Storm Revealed enthusiastically and I recommend the book to all fantasy lovers and those not afraid of something different, yet fascinating. There's kind of a cliffhanger, but not the on that makes you crazy mad, but the one that makes you need to know, to read more!
"Storm", in name and essence. What a pleasure this book was: short, entertaining, funny, emotional and leaving the reader wanting more. Our heroine, Lexi, is a selfless and determined girl, who has a big heart, is grateful for what she has; be it people or academics or goals that shape her lie, puts herself in other people's shoes before passing a judgement on them or their behavior and best of all, is not a pushover. Our hero, Storm, as the name suggests, is hotheaded, impulsive, intense and loyal to the core. Storm believes Lexi to be his soulmate, Lexi, not so much, cuz it's hard to be someone's soulmate when the literally kidnap you and show you a world that you have never seen before. This book deals with Lexi's fight to be free and get back to her family and Storm's continuous efforts to woo her and show her that she belong with him and only him.
The book was well written, funny, well paced, characters were well developed (all of them) even though the length of the book was short; I didn't feel bored at any point at all and actually looked forward to book two! Lexi was a determined girl, even though she was naive and young, she put her heart into what she believed in and wouldn't give up even when the situation got too tough or out of hand. Storm was resilient, patient and understanding; that was a joy reading this book, characters who acted mature and faced the situations head on instead of running away when going got tough.
I'd definitely recommend it to the readers who love fantasy and strong characters with unusual settings.
What an amazing first installment to a brand new series! Storm: Phantom Islanders is the first part of 3 part serial by the phenomenal Ednah Walters.
This book I’ve got to say is one of my favorite Walter’s books. Everything about this book was perfect. First lemme start with the characters. Lexi, or Alexandria, is the main heroine in the novel. She is a nanny to her rich step-father’s son. Her step mum isn’t that great either. She wants to go to U of Missouri on a full scholarship in Journalism. Everything seems great until it just changes. I’ve got to say that Lexi has signifiant character growth in this book. She is so fun and sassy. I love how she banters back and forth from Storm, the hero. She does not let him over rule her and she is her own person. I’ve got to say her feistiness is her best feature. Watch out storm. Storm is a great hero. He is just really funny. He is a pirate and does have some old fashioned views. However, I love that he cares for Lexi. He isn’t a player despite being the pro Alpha guy. But underneath all that infuriating layer really lies a heart of gold. Man, he Storm really made me swoon. I need my own Storm.
The entire world building in this book is phenomenal. I really enjoyed learning about who these Islanders are and their ways. I love the mix of Fantasy and Paranormal. These people appear human but are not quiet. Also, the mish mash of mythology is amazing.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. Despite being a short read, I cannot wait to go on to the second installment.
I was very pleasantly surprised by the first installment of the Phantom Islanders Series. This was my time reading Ednah Walters, and I enjoyed her writing style - descriptive, clear, thoughtful storytelling and rich character development.
This is one of those books where you need to completely suspend your disbelief from the outset, much like Lexi, our protagonist does upon encountering so many strange occurrences and beings. Pirates, an evil stepmother, a guileless yet fearless orphaned heroine, a sick sibling, kidnapping, leviathan, a mysterious magnate, magical powers... to say it out loud all sounds a bit ridiculous. But Walters pieces together the fantasy elements well. I'm looking forward to whether/how she will continue to tie all of the stories and characters together.
That said, I do find the division of this book into parts annoying. I get that the serial format is a "thing," but there is no cliffhanger, natural stopping point, nor completed story arc that would necessitate or benefit from a pause at the end of this section. It seems arbitrary and disruptive in the storytelling.
Well, on to part 2...
(I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.)
*Update, within a few pages of part 2 my opinion of this series has nose dived; book 1 was good, book 2 is basically lust-mistaken-for-love and that's not the kind of romance I'm into. Sexual attraction is one thing; literally giving up everything for an orgasm is not*
As the start to a new adult urban fantasy series, I was definitely intrigued by this book when I first saw it pop while roaming around the Kindle store one day—I feel like NA titles are, in general, a little rare and that anything that isn’t a contemporary romance is even more rare, so throwing in the urban fantasy angle with pirates and some historical flair definitely piqued my interest.
I had a longer review but since this is a serial style story, I'm not gonna bother letting my positive feelings for this book linger in a lengthy review because book #2 is a sharp decline into a girl suddenly going "whelp, can't escape, time for orgasms, I'm in love!" before the 40% mark.
This is so disappointing. Book #1 looked like a good start. I don't recommend.
Go read Bound it's an absolutely amazing fantasy romance and performs far better than this little serial could ever hope if you want more than just flat out insta-lust scenes.
A mix of Peter-Pan and Captain Hook comes in Lexi life and all her plans for her charge, her brother, her blog and her studies are throw to the wind, drown in magical waters… Literally. Despite her understandable reticence’s to open to her captor she cannot deny the familiar link that exist between them and her interest for the Phantom Island. Gradually she discovers more secrets of their inhabitants and her curiosity grows. I liked the mysterious atmosphere and magical scenery. There were a lot of funny quiproquos and interactions. The characters were all different but spirited. I was a bit bored in some passages of the book. Especially with the repetition of the situation in which the characters were practically spilling their secrets and at the last moments: “no, can’t say. But it is for your own good”. And they barely got mad when Lexi find out. This first book was a piece of work for the Imaginary Land, and invited us to uncover all the mysteries of the islanders.
The summary of the book caught my attention and so I downloaded a sample. Immediately drawn in I had to buy the book.
Overall the book is amazing, we immediately feel connected to Lexi, her back story and her guilt about her half brother.
The main thing I loved about this book was that the author had the main character continuing with the theme that Lexi was going to go home. That she didn't want to stay here and she tried her hardest to find a way home.
Most times an author starts out with the same theme then has the character give in halfway through the book and they're immediately smitten with the person they first despised. (Like a switch was flipped).
I gave a 4 out of 5 review only because it ended at a weird place in the story BUT I do plan to read the next book.
I’ve had this book on my Kindle for a while, and when I pulled it from my TBR I admit at first, because it was an Indie Supernatural book I was dubious because I don’t get on with them as well. At the start, I couldn’t quite work out what Storm was.
Was he a werewolf?
Some sort of human hybrid?
When it was finally revealed that he was in fact an Islander (a pirate) I suddenly became a lot more invested in the story. Especially with all the descriptions of Steampunk fashion- well that’s how I pictured the outfits in my head.
I was very surprised by this book, the MC may have had a tragic backstory- but it didn’t make her whiny like most of the ones I’ve read, she had a sensible head on her shoulders and took her job as a Nanny seriously.
So I totally got why she was angry that Storm took her from that.
It’s a great introduction to the trilogy, and as a first book, it’s steamy and the sexual tension is on fire! It was great to see Lexi and Storm play off on each other. He thought she’d just willing let him have her, but she’s way too strong for that.
I really enjoyed the novel, and there were some areas that made me roll my eyes, like the repetition but aside from that it was a good book.
I ended up going onto Amazon and getting the second one because I’m very intruiged about where the story is going to go next.
