Nice Little Account

The only river town missing in this little guide is Grafton IL. While the majority of the book covered the lower Mississippi, I would have liked to have learned a bit more regarding mid Mississippi River. The book is informative and educational. Fun little read.

It’s Not Shakespeare Or Twain

Life on the Mississippi is well resourced, well written enjoyable read. It’s a mixture of anecdotes and fact that offer the reader a fine mixture of history and wild characters. Andrist relates the role the Mississippi has played on this continent, on this country. I hope he will continue his journey into the river’s future.

Riverboats: Stories and Tales

I absolutely loved this book! Short but well written. Describes everything you ever wondered about old time steamboats and the characters that populated them.

Very interesting history of the steamboats on the Mississippi and the Missouri. They were the way to transport goods in the 1800's. Although, a lot of people were killed along the way! It is not a long book and I think you will find it worth your time.
