When you know it's wrong but it feels so right
Madison Montgomery is through with players. In fact, she doesn't want to date at all until she finishes her last year of college at the University of California, Irvine. She works as a Gulls' Girl, one of the beautiful women who interacts with fans and scrapes off ice during intermission breaks of the Newport Beach Seagulls hockey games in order to save money. It's there she meets Alec Schumacher, right winger for the first line of the Newport Beach Seagulls. He's deliriously good looking, a skilled player, and oozes charm from every inch of his skin. He's the exact person Madison promised to stay away from.
Except she can't seem to resist.
Alec Schumacher has a reputation that includes dating the beautiful women that clean up the ice during the games. The problem is, it isn't entirely true. Sure, he's hooked up with a couple but they hadn't meant anything and he always made that clear so everything was on the table. Then he meets Madison Montgomery, beautiful brunette who's smart, witty, and drop-dead gorgeous and everything changes. He wants to be around her, he wants to be with her. But can he convince her that he's worth breaking her rules for?
Full disclosure: I am an acquired taste. I'm a typical blonde Orange County suburbanite who says 'like' more than necessary, laughs loud and probably obnoxiously, and loves to dance in the rain. I'm a 23 year old college graduate with more than a few tricks up my sleeve, and I also happen to be a pretty big Ducks fan. Oh, and I'm a writer. Like, for real.

This is a rather short prequel. In the beginning, it moves along at a slow pace. We're introduced to Madison, a recent transplant from Michigan now attending college in Calif. (although later in the story we learn she's in her 4th year at UC Irvine which makes me wonder why we're given the impression she JUST arrived from Michigan) who takes a part-time job as a Gulls Girls - supposedly "much classier than cheerleaders or Hooters girls" - and yet then she begins describing their outfits and it sounds to me A LOT like that! An inordinate amount of time is spent between Madison and another Gulls Girls member - Amanda - about each player, dynamics within the team, etc. sounded way too high schoolish to me!
Unfortunately it just keeps sounding more and more like teen gossip. Also, there were several typos, not a lot but enough to notice. And the pace? Just wasn't quite right to me - some parts of the storyline seemed to move too fast and others too slow. And unfortunately, some seemed implausible.
This is part of a "triple prequel" so maybe it makes more sense when you've read all 3. Not sure, but at least this one, I couldn't really get invested in.
When Madison starts working as a Gulls Girl, she has her priorities set: finishing college, enjoying her time with her friend Amanda and most importantly, no men. That is until she meets Alec Schumacher; the rumored and well-known ladies man, with a trail of broken hearts in his wake. Madison's been warned of his reputation, yet she can't help but find endearing qualities about him. Alec is an enigma; he opens up to her in ways he never has with any other woman, which leaves Madison confused, yet intrigued. When things take a turn for the worse in Madison's life, an unlikely hero of sorts emerges, showing his true character. Will Madison allow herself to let go and break her own rules or will she let her ties to an overbearing family hold her back? This is a must-read series! I feel there's more to Madison and Alec's story yet to come in the upcoming new series. I'm anxious to find out! I love this trilogy and every aspect of each of the characters. Heather created them with such depth and personality, you feel as you're part of their world. I could feel the icy cold of rink as the hockey games were played; the emotions of the players as they backed up their teammate. It was thrilling and exciting to say the least. 5 "charming" stars!
I just finished reading Charm on the Rocks and I'm not sure if I enjoyed it or not. I unwittingly read it before the first two prequels. I would not recommend reading this story out of order. It has always been my understanding that a prequel is to a specific story. You know, prequel one matches book one, etc. That is not the case. I think the three prequels are to the entire series, which I believe will start about a year after this story ends and none of the series' books seem to focus on Madison and Alec. Their story seems to be complete, but with a lot of unanswered questions. Who killed the grandfather? Is Brady going to reappear? If not, why invest as much time on him as the author did? Why does everyone hate Brandon so much? Are Madison and Alec going to appear in other stories? They didn't really have a HEA. The story ends at the appetizer course of their first date.
Although, my interest has been piqued enough to go back to book one of the prequels and start the series from there. Hopefully it will make more sense that way.
On a side note, the story really needs to be edited better. The mistakes are obvious, distracting, and break the flow of the story.
Madison has sworn off men until she completes her last year of college at the University of California at Irvine. Madison is also a Gulls' girl who scrapes the ice during the intermission breaks of the Newport Beach Seagulls hockey games to save money. Alec Schumacher is the talented and skilled right winger for the first line of the Newport Beach Seagulls. Alec is extremely good looking, oozes charm, and has a reputation of going through Gulls' girls. Madison has been warned about Alec's reputation but finds she can't help but find qualities about him endearing. Alec opens up to Madison in ways he has never with any other woman he has been involved with. Will Alec be able to help Madison when her father learns about her real job? Will Madison trust Alec and what he feels for her? Can Alec convince Madison that he doesn't leave broken hearts in his wake and that he wants a real shot at a future with her? I really enjoyed Charm on the Rocks by Heather C Myers. Absolutely loved the banter between Madison and Alec. I would definitely recommend getting Charm on the Rocks and the other books in the Slapshot Prequel Trilogy by Heather C Myers.

Charming on the Rock is the third book in the Slapshot Prequel Trilogy and as with the others books it does not disappoint.
In this story you get to to see the beginning of Madison and Alec's relationship. Madison away from her family is going to college and working at a job that she is not comfortable with. Alec's is known as a player, but those who know him know he is more.
Madison and Alec are honest and upfront with each other and instead of pushing the relationship they just see where it goes. Alec also is so taken with Madison that he goes to Seraphina for help. I love that Seraphina doesn't try to stop the relationship, she actually encourages it.
This Trilogy is a great start to what is a wonderful series.

Thought about the book: Madison and Alec are my favorite couple so far in the A Snapshot story line! Loving Madison’s you have no chance with me attitude with Alec is great! Loving the story line of Madison learning what hockey is all about and the things that go with being an ice girl for the Gull’s. With being told all about Alec and his history with girls Madison finds herself thinking about him a little more than she should, to being able to learn who he is on her own terms. To becoming friends with Alec and finding that she loves to spend time with her. I enjoyed reading on how Alec never gives up and keeps going back to try to find out who Madison is and why she makes him want to be better for her. I want to know how their relationship works out and to see if it last until the end of time like I hope it does
Thought about the writing and layout of the book: The book had great potential, but with a lot of error in the writing it was hard to follow at times. The layout of the book was great and got me hooked in right from the start. Falling in love with the characters and the plot and story line that was laid out in front of me but with the errors sometimes I had to go back and reread a page or a few lines to understand what the author was trying to say.
What I liked: The story as a book over all was great and like I said the author did a great job tell the story at hand. I am a hockey fan and this just pulled me right in from the start and could not stop reading it.
What I didn’t like: The only thing I did not like was the errors that made it a little hard to read and understand at times.
3.5 Stars This is prequel 3 in the Slapshot series and it features Madison Montgomery and Alec Schumacher. She’s the Gulls girl from small-town Michigan and he’s the California guy that plays right forward for the Gulls. Players and Gulls girls are not supposed to socialize outside of team events, so it seems the attraction between these two will have to be a secret.
Outside of the budding romance, this is another retelling of Ken Brown’s murder. These prequels are just giving us a glance of the beginning of these relationships. I’m definitely looking forward to novel-length books in this series.
you cant stop chemistry!! Madison Montgomery and Alec Schumacher story Alec Schumacher, right winger for the first line of the Newport Beach Seagulls and has a reputation of a ladies man and Madison is attending college and working for the hockey team as a Gulls Girl. All Madison wants to do is concentrate on her college work but Alec keeps catching her eye even tho she has been told about his track record. But the chemistry between these two is electric.
A great prequel it gets you hooked, I couldnt put it down. these two are just brilliant!!! I am a huge slapshot fan!!

The third and final prequel in the Slapshot series focuses again on a different couple, and yet the storyline is tied with the murder that took place in the first prequel. These prequels are meant to be read in order in order to make sense, so I strongly recommend you read all three. That being said, I'm anxiously waiting for the main series. What does the author has in store for us? The prequels have definitely incited my imagination!

Another great story in Slapshot Prequel Trilogy series a well written story that held my interest until the end. This is Madison Montgomery she is one of the Gulls' Girl and Alec Schumacher, right winger for the first line of the Newport Beach Seagulls. I enjoyed reading this story and want to read more in this series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This book is the third in the prequel trilogy for the Slapshot series. This is Madison and Alec's Journey to a hopefully HEA. Alec is one of the hockey players on the Newport Beach Seagulls and Madison has vowed to herself to date no more players will be no more heartache. When these two meet the attraction is instant and strong. A really good story that I enjoyed reading. Enjoy!

I still think that the three preludes should be joined together and turned into one prelude There is to much overlap between the three books and I felt like I was reading the same thing over and over Definitely takes the fun out of reading as most times it just seemed like a cut and paste job. While this is mainly Maddison and Alec's story and they had a great connection I found myself switching off
I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Alec and Madison. Madison just started as a Gulls Girl at the beginning of the season as she goes to school. Alec is a player and had been known to play several girls. They are drawn together but fate. Great continuation in the series

Madison is a member of the Gull Girls and Alec is a star hockey player of the Newport Beach Seagulls. Madison had decided she's through dating and wants to concentrate more on her final year of college until she meets Alec. I like the way the author brought Alec and Madison together and how they become friends before taking their relationship to the next level. A great addition to the Slapshot series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
Alec and Madison meet in this short, sweet, low-stakes romance, and we get to see how perfect these two were for each other. I really liked the cheeky banter between these two main characters. Alec's charming playboy lifestyle turns on its head when he falls for Madison, who unfortunately is a Gulls Girl, meaning they can't be together in public. Still, there was no instance in which I thought Alec wasn't sure of his feelings for her or vice versa.
Charm on the Rocks shows the prequels from the final perspective - that of the team. I enjoyed how it built on the prior stories and shows how Ken's death and Seraphina's taking over the team impacted the players and Gull Girls. And the romance between Alec and Madison helped round out the sweet story.
I really enjoyed this story and it's part in the larger series.
This is a fun look at Madison and Alec's backstory. These novellas are a nice treat for fans of this series or if you want to get an deeper look at these characters before you start the series. It is not in my opinion a great choice as a standalone read though. This is my frank, freely posted review.
This is the third book in this Slapshot series and it was enjoyable. The characters fit well together and have great chemistry. It is a quick read, the story will keep you interested to see what happens next with Madison and Alec.

Excellent hockey team story that has romance. This particular book in the Slapshot series is about Madison and Alec. The blurb gives some on-site to this story. I enjoyed the story but just wish this book told us where the relationship went. I received a complementary copy of this book via Booksprout and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by Ms. Myers.
I loved getting to know Madison and Alex their characters are well developed and engaging and the chemistry is great. Alex is known as a player and Madison is a college student that wants to stay away from the bad boy hockey player. The storyline flowed smoothly making this a great read.

A story of love with some mystery thrown in. The suspense had me on edge and the angst sometime had me frustrated. But I loved reading to see how they would get through it.
