Dark rituals. Power hungry demon-bloods. A witch barely holding it together.
Someone is killing the Hollows in New Orleans. After freeing the city from the yoke of Remy, the immortal, Madison and her coven start building a new social system based on freedom and democracy. But years of relying on the protection offered by a dictator has made the witches soft. Now their sacred spaces are under attack, and dangerous entities are slipping into the city.
As Madison investigates further, she finds a group of imps responsible for the draining and destruction of a Hollow, and foils their plans to continue pillaging. But this is only the beginning. When a group of demon-bloods spill into town, hell-bent on taking what they want and answering to no-one, the witches of New Orleans have to scramble just to react. Throw a tall, abrasive, new distraction hiding a dark secret into the mix, and this witch has her hands full.
Every decision Madison makes could lead to catastrophe, and with so many lives hanging in the balance, she can’t afford to make any mistakes. But without Jean Luc and Eliza by her side, she just might.

Yes, you can judge a book by its cover, and if the amazingly beautiful cover art to "Demon's Kiss" drew you in, you'll be pleasantly surprised to find that the story contained within more than lives up to its promise. What a fantastic book! I can't recommend this series enough, or its author, Katerina Martinez. Everything she writes is stellar, but this series is the cherry on top. From the characters to the setting, to the fast-paced plot and smooth flawless writing, there is something that will appeal to everyone. An outstanding job. **I received an ARC copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review**
Book 2 really leaves you wanting, rather than pick up on the vampire story it goes into half daemon breeds.
Then there’s a new potential love interest which is kinda annoying considering you’re lead to believe the vampire love story was an epic self sacrificing kinda love story. But when we do see him again towards the end of the book he’s made to seem like a selfish prick.
Cheers for Demon's Kiss, the second book of the Blood & Magick Series!
Madison & Nicole are best friends, and somehow their coven has been "elected" to rule the new witch democracy in New Orleans & keep the covens at peace. They've taken the single-man rule of all witches from Remy Jackson & he is entertained to see them flounder with their first serious problem is uncovered.
However, Nicole & Madison are determined to work with the covens & only seek Remy's guidance when all else fails. I mean, sure, he's 200 years old & has kept New Orleans safe from the other supernaturals since the Purge, but he's power-hungry and cruel.
There has been no word from Jean Luc in months.
So when Maddie finds herself with butterflies in her tummy when she lays her eyes on Jared, a blind date whom she's gets tingles from when they touch. Shortly, she'll find out that the handsome Jared is, unfortunately, a true-born Demon. He saves her life, then Nicole's, but can he really be trusted?
After Nicole is saved, Jared decides to leave his crew, and try walk a path in the light under the sanctuary of Chateau de Lumière. (If he can get into the house, he is no threat to her, right?). Madison believes that he means no harm, but still isn't exactly sure what to do with this hot dish served right up on her doorstep!
So Jared has promised his help to the witches stop a summoning of a demon straight out of hell.., and they have to do it without killing Nicole's mom, the only woman that can complete the ritual! Adding the easily-available Remy Jackson to the mix, whom is more than willing to help, and you've got a proverbial powder keg. And they need it all.
And remember, no matter how close you are to someone, there are always secrets they prefer to keep hidden at ALMOST any cost.

She leaves me speechless on a regular basis. The book is just so good, I have no words to properly explain it's awesomeness. The characters get more complex, the world gets richer, the darkness becomes more evil, and the cliffhanger ending get more epic. A bit of a spoiler alert there. While this book wraps up the main conflict, there's a whole 'nother can of worms opened and waiting for us for the next book. So I'll be anxiously counting the moments until book three is finally in my hands. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book.
Nicole and Madison have one of the covers to run. They have already had to deal with the imps messing with their hollars. Jared comes into Madison's life, he is a trueblood Demon. And now because she didn't have time one of the young vampires has killed a young witch....
My gripe is a different hot guy, same witch. I thought the character was stronger then that. Other then that, the characters are developing slowly, I will read the next book in this series.
I enjoyed the 2nd book as much as the first! The writing is wonderful and the characters come to life making reading very easy and good for young people. I look forward to reading the next in the service!
An intense continuation of this exciting series! Starts off with a bang and just keeps going. The characters are intensifying and the new ones introduced are just as good! Great job! If you love the occult in New Orleans this is for you!
I don't even know where to start. This is a great book. Madison is a witch a powerful one there are three men well not really men one is s vampire john luc, Jarod is a demon and Remy is a bad witch. I could see her with any of them. Long story short it has everything a good book needs. Awesome awesome book. I can't wait for the 3rd book so I can where the author takes it.
This story was okay. It's more for teens than adults. It would be a lot better if someone had proofread it. There were some glaring errors, which kids won't notice, but adults will.
Madison is in for it in this time. A new democratic system has been implemented for the covens of New Orleans and the bickering never seems to end. To help solve the mystery of who is draining the hollows of power, she sets off into the swamps and finds more than she bargained for. Imps, not not competing witches, is what she finds, and struggles to catch. Finally, one Imp is captured in an inescapable bubble that she keeps on her dresser. Things couldn't get normal for Madison, not even for one day. Read on to discover what that Imp really is, who tells Madison and where he leads her. I will only say that I already am itching for the next book!
Reading Katerina Martinez books is like visiting friends. There is an instant click with the characters wether you love or hate them. The language, settings and dialogue flow so eloquently I feel as though I am part of the story.
Katerina Martinez has really out done herself with a Demon's Kiss. Im so blown away with every new book that Martinez releases.
In part two of the series Madison is just starting to find her footing again after Jean Luc's abrupt departure. Madison and Nicole are also dealing with their new role in the coven after outing Remy and also trying to find out what is killing the Hollow's when a new hot biker, Jared comes into town, and then all hell breaks loose.
A demon named Belial show's up and wants something from Nicole's mother Jeanette and he also wants her family heirlooms. Belial will stop at nothing to get them.
With not knowing who to trust Madison and her coven work together on how to deal with Belial. Will everyone come together to defeat Belial or will Remy try to get even with the girl's. Can they trust Jared and will Jean Luc make his presents known again.
This is an amazing story, from the start to the finish of the book, it is not stop. Between the action and the information this book leaves you wanting to jump right into the third installment.
The second book in the Blood and Magick series. Would you make a deal with the devil for immortality? I was so glad I only had to wait a month to carry on reading this series after the first book was released at the beginning of January. Madison the main character in this series has grown from being a nobody in New Orleans to being the head honcho of the witches. We get introduced to various demons in this book and a new possible romance just to make things a little crazy. Just the right amount of humour and action made this a great second book in the series. I absolutely adore this type of story. Plenty of witchyness and our main character isn't the typical white witch these types of stories usually has as their heroine making it more interesting.
This book and the series of which it is a part have great relatable characters, wonderful interactions, and nonstop action. I have enjoyed both books and look forward to the next.
Madison and Nicole are fighting to keep their new witch democracy running, while things in New Orleans are changing. Different species have learned about Vampires running around and have decided to move in. However, these aren't just any random creatures; they bring evil in their wake, wanting one of New Orleans most powerful witches. A new, gorgeous, hunk of a man comes on the scene and Madison isn't sure if she can trust him. Jared...he does what he can to prove himself and Madison can't help but feel the connection between them. When danger comes, will Madison and Nicole unite the Witches to fight or will New Orleans perish? Katerina wowed me with book two! It may be better than book one! I highly recommend this new series. You'll be drawn in from word one. I give it a magical 5 stars!
I very much enjoy this series and like how new paths have opened up so we can keep guessing on how things may turn out. I haven't decided if I'm team Jared or Jean Luc yet, only time will tell. I'm definitely hyped up about the next book in the series and can't imagine how it will play out. Definitely worth taking an afternoon out and reading a book in this series.
I finished reading Magic Reborn and just had to get Demon's Kiss to follow it. Both are "I can't put them down" attention getters that leave you wanting more! Great series!! When is the next book available? :-)
Sorry not to agree with all the five star readers here...I just cannot get into this series at all. I love witches..I love new Orleans, I am an avid reader of syfy and supernatural... This series is not strong, characters are forgettable and impersonal..the setting doesnt even lure me in its so quick..no details...cant imagine it in my head while reading. I have nothing vested it's been months since I put the second book down and just tried to read it again and I can't finish it. Its a shame really. Its so hard for me to accept that this is the same author of the amber Lee true witch series? Their are no similarities in the style of writing...it's like night and day. I was addicted to the first series by Katerina...but I can't finish this one or the last one. If a book comes out that is the same level as amber Lee series I will read it. Until then I am done. Disappointed and bummed. Sorry!
