It wasn’t until Cameron that I knew what real darkness was…or that I’d crave it so much.

This cover is a pretty good representation of the hero. The composition is fairly good. The typography is OK. The title itself is good, but I would have made the authors name and the bylines slightly smaller in width. I also would have removed the gray from behind the title as I find it a bit distracting. Overall though one of the better covers I have seen.
I enjoyed this one a lot. From the trigger warnings I expected this one to be heavy on the dark content, but honestly, it really wasn't. What it turned out to be was a fairly well written and nicely paced read with likable characters (I hope we get a book featuring Damien.) A few hot sex scenes and a slightly disappointing ending (what can I say I am an epilogue whore.)
This one is fairly short and certainly "insta-everything." I do think if would have been an even better book had it been longer and more fleshed out. It's a little light on character backgrounds and plot. That said this type of book is what this author is known for, so I knew going in what I was going to get. Two thumbs up from yours truly.

It's so hard to find "dark" themed books that are safe! So I'm so happy that this is another one of those rare books!
-100% safe read
-dark themed, not your sweet love story
-Mob boss, OTT silent alpha
-Virgin h
-No ow/drama
-absolute no mention of H's past sexual history ( but obviously not a virgin)
-H NOT a man whore
-H stalker/ obsessed/ possessive of h
-slight S&M themed, more about dominant and submissive than anything
-both characters are broken from life
- definitely not you sweet and loving H, more like " I will gut anyone who touches you" H... witch is awesome for a book like this!
I really enjoyed this book!! My ONLY issues was the epilogue... well I guess the whole book as well....I wanted more!! I honestly wanted to read more about these characters and their life and their building relationship!! That's how much I enjoyed it!

Lo scorso weekend ho letto un libro in anteprima per il blog.
Inizialmente ero entusiasta, credendo di poter passare il fine settimana in compagnia di un bel dark romance ma, mi dispiace dirlo, è stato un vero fiasco.
Il libro in questione è "Affliction" di Jenika Snow, edito da Hope Edizioni.
Cercherò, per quanto mi è possibile, di spiegarvi la trama brevemente, anche perché più che un romanzo è un racconto.
La storia si apre con una donna che balla in discoteca senza provare emozioni. L’unica cosa che la fa sentire viva è strusciarsi su uomini mezzi ubriachi ed eccitati.
Data la sua spiacevole vita, che definisce un fallimento totale, pensa di tornarsene a casa, ma uno degli uomini che ha fatto eccitare e poi rimanere a bocca asciutta la segue e cerca di violentarla nel vicolo del locale.
Per fortuna qualcuno la salva. Ricorda poco del suo salvatore, se non che possedeva un'arma e che aveva le scarpe lucide.
Il giorno dopo Sofia, così si chiama la donna, torna al suo misero lavoro di cameriera (perché si ricorda che ha tante bollette da pagare) e un collega le dà l'indirizzo di una persona che la potrebbe aiutare.
Dopo tante domande raggiunge questo luogo dimenticato da Dio dove viene accerchiata da alcuni uomini e portata dal loro capo.
Quest'uomo la aiuta, ma un giorno lei dovrà ripagarlo.
Uscito da qui ci ritroviamo di nuovo in discoteca, questa volta con una Sofia piena di dubbi esistenziali, che si isola da tutti.
A un tratto il capo del locale, che tutti temono, vuole vederla. Lei, senza farsi problemi, gli chiede aiuto, ma lo riceverà visto che tutti lo etichettano come un boss cattivo e violento?
Lettori, vi assicuro che con tutti i dark che ho letto non ho mai, e ripeto mai, letto un libro del genere, con una trama che non ha né testa né coda.
I protagonisti già conoscevano i rispettivi nomi; il protagonista maschile (ricordo che è un mafia romance) era innamorato di Sofia dopo sole due settimane e una notte di sesso.
Parlando di sesso, la ragazza che io non credevo vergine visto il comportamento nei primi capitoli, a metà libro si rivela vergine e, cosa ancora più sconvolgente, a quanto pare non sa nemmeno di esserlo.
Passando all’uomo onnipotente, il criminale violento di cui non c’è una scena in cui viene presentato o spiegato cosa faccia, la etichetta come una tr***, eppure si rende conto che la ragazza è vergine senza che lei abbia spiaccicato una sillaba.
Inoltre, a volte mi sembrava di leggere scene riprese da romance più conosciuti.
Io sono allibita, davvero. Mi sono presa un po' di giorni per riflettere prima di scrivere la recensione per non distruggere il libro del tutto, ma non c'è l'ho fatta.
Mi dispiace per la CE che mi ha inviato la copia per la recensione, ma questo per me non può essere chiamato romanzo.
Naturalmente questa è la mia opinione personale, magari a molte di voi può piacere, ma per me è un grandissimo NO!

"Affliction" è un libro che ho voluto fortemente leggere. La cover e la trama sono indubbiamente il mio genere e mi hanno attratta come una falena. La protagonista Sofia è una ragazza che vive cercando di sopravvivere tra vari lavori e a stare a galla a stento. Ha un carattere dolce e solo quando si estranea riesce a far uscire la sua vera essenza ovvero l'anima che tiene rinchiusa dentro di sé. Quando capisce di essere arrivata a toccare il fondo, non può far altro che chiedere aiuto ad uno strozzino, nonostante sappia bene che non può pagare i debiti accumulati. L'autrice ci descrive molto bene la vita di Sofia, la crudezza che deve vivere e il sudiciume a cui è abituata mi ha lasciata senza fiato. Cameron Ashton è un criminale, della peggior specie: è freddo, calcolatore e cinico. Cameron è senza dubbio un personaggio da far girare la testa: sa cosa vuole, il suo linguaggio e il suo atteggiamento sono in linea con tutto ciò che l'autrice ha creato per lui. Quando accetta di aiutare Sofia, nonostante lei non possa ripagarlo, lo fa al solo scopo di incatenarla a lui: il corpo di Sofia è il pagamento che lui chiede. Cameron è un personaggio che speravo ardentemente l'autrice ampliasse di più. Di lui si sa poco ed è un vero peccato per questa lettura che poteva essere eccezionale. Il rapporto tra Cameron e Sofia è basato su fondamenta sporche e rotte. Il libro purtroppo è molto corto, questo fa sì che la storia è raccontata in modo veloce, frettoloso e non dettagliato. L'autrice ha creato una trama bellissima, piena di pathos ed erotismo. Speravo che questo libro fosse molto più articolato. Nonostante la bellezza del libro, si avverte un senso di vuoto, dovuto al fatto che non si sente il libro completo. I dettagli, il personaggio di Cameron, la storia con Sofia, i loro sentimenti messi in chiaro sono tutti punti che non sono stati chiariti come avrebbero meritato. Il libro è scritto molto bene, l'ho letto tutto d'un fiato e l'erotismo è presente ed estremamente carico di scintille. Cameron e Sofia, nonostante la loro breve storia, mi hanno fatta sognare e mi hanno tenuta incollata al libro. Questo libro è la rinascita di una ragazza che non aveva nulla e ha trovato qualcuno che la protegge e che la ami, a modo suo. L'amore non è pulito, è rozzo, nero, a volte dispotico ma assolutamente meraviglioso. Il libro è autoconclusivo, si legge in pochissimo tempo vista la lunghezza.

Honestly I expected it to be a dark and gritty read- but except the initial angst and sadness I didn't feel it.
The chemistry between the leads was just barely there, the sex average, and the book is from her POV.
I tried to like it since I usually adore dark romances, but this one didn't do it for me at all.

So depressing in the beginning - a self-pity, doom and gloom spiral in h's head - little reasoning of why she is so depressed while dancing in club with lots of bodies rubbing against her and she still a virgin. I almost DNF'd. Once the H truly entered into the story, it picked up. However, really not dark. H is into shady things - MMA/underground fighting background. H/h make agreement for sex for 2 weeks. H claims that's all it will be. 2.5 stars

From the blurb i thought this would be abit more darker.. it wasn't but i did have a harder time connecting with the MC since it was only Sofias PoV.. Cameron got 1 pov but that was a epilogue bonus..this was a fast pace semidarkish romance..
Sofia has been having a tough life working to the bone and barley making ends meat so to relax she enjoys going out to dance let her body and mind escape for awhile she almost ends up sexually assaulted but is saved by a man.. but her problems dont end their her apartment gets broken into and she makes the wrong choice and goes to a loan shark making her life more hell.. until Cameron steps in.. even if he is a scary mother fker and cold she feels 10x more safer with him then the loanshark... he helps her and has her for 2 weeks as a repayment.. things get hawt and heavy between them until Cam pushes her away.. but it doesn't last.
Low Angst, no ow/om drama, no cheating, dramaish, sexy times, Not a manwhore and a virgin girl.

Un romanzo breve, ma ho avuto davvero molta difficoltà a finirlo. La storia non mi ha presa, ho detestato lei e lui è abbastanza anonimo come protagonista.
Viste le dinamiche e il mondo in cui si trovano i due protagonisti, le cose andavano approfondite.

I had some high expectations going in when I started this book. I have never read anything by Jenika before but I was told from trusted people that she writes some really good books. Well, they must not have read this book because I was totally disappointed to say the least. I couldn't even finish this book.
The blurb drew me in - I enjoy a good, dark read that keeps me in suspense. However, the way this book was written, I struggled to get through it. What should have probably taken me hours to read, took me two days just to get a little over half way and I had to stop. I just couldn't deal with the obscurity of the writing and these characters.
My first issue is with the characters, especially Sofia. I could not stand her one bit. In the beginning she comes across two men who she is hoping can help her - both are sketchy and scary looking. Yet one she's totally afraid of and the other she has no issue with. What the ever loving fuck??? I am sorry, but that's just too hard for me to believe. Everything is just too contradicting to believe it. And Cameron - he suppose to be this dark and harden man yet he immediately tells Sofia that she's his weakness and even shows her the whole security area of his house. WTF?!?! C'mon!!!
Then there is the writing. WOAH!! This book needs to be smoothed/fleshed out real bad. There were too many times where I had to stop and re-read what I read because I was totally confused as to what was going on. The scenes just jump too much, there is no fluidity to them and gives the book this jagged and rough read. And that really kills a book when you have to stop and figure out what's going on. Then there was the repetitiveness and overuse of certain words and phrases (i.e. - showing emotion on his face, but the emotion gone before truly seeing it). Or saying things that contradict each other (i.e. "'Sofia," Cameron said my name softly, urging me in that deep, commanding voice of his." ) You can't be demanding and speak softly - it just doesn't work. I think you get the gist of what I am saying.
I'm sorry but I had a hard time believing he darkness in this book. I found myself rolling my eyes and getting all stabby - and that's at only 50% of the book. ARGH!!
I wanted to enjoy this book, but I just couldn't force myself to finish it. I know my opinion will differ from others, but this book was hard for me to get through. Maybe my expectations were too high, but regardless, I expected more from this author.

My first issue is with the characters, especially Sofia. I could not stand her one bit. In the beginning she comes across two men who she is hoping can help her - both are sketchy and scary looking. Yet one she's totally afraid of and the other she has no issue with. What the ever loving fuck??? I am sorry, but that's just too hard for me to believe. Everything is just too contradicting to believe it. And Cameron - he suppose to be this dark and harden man yet he immediately tells Sofia that she's his weakness and even shows her the whole security area of his house. WTF?!?! C'mon!!!
Then there is the writing. WOAH!! This book needs to be smoothed/fleshed out real bad. There were too many times where I had to stop and re-read what I read because I was totally confused as to what was going on. The scenes just jump too much, there is no fluidity to them and gives the book this jagged and rough read. And that really kills a book when you have to stop and figure out what's going on. Then there was the repetitiveness and overuse of certain words and phrases (i.e. - showing emotion on his face, but the emotion gone before truly seeing it). Or saying things that contradict each other (i.e. "'Sofia," Cameron said my name softly, urging me in that deep, commanding voice of his." ) You can't be demanding and speak softly - it just doesn't work. I think you get the gist of what I am saying.
I'm sorry but I had a hard time believing he darkness in this book. I found myself rolling my eyes and getting all stabby - and that's at only 50% of the book. ARGH!!
I wanted to enjoy this book, but I just couldn't force myself to finish it. I know my opinion will differ from others, but this book was hard for me to get through. Maybe my expectations were too high, but regardless, I expected more from this author.

I'm a bit disappointed in this story. The storyline is definitely there but the delivery is extremely mediocre for a Snow novel.
I feel as if too much of the overall story is dedicated to Sofia and her description of her crappy life. The very small percentage of her deal with Cameron and their subsequent relationship is rushed and unrealistic. It is difficult to connect with the couple and their relationship.

This was a dark romance story by Jenika Snow and I loved it!! Cameron Ashton is this big, bad , dark man who is like the boogey man to Sofia. She’s a good girl who has gotten in over her head and Cameron is her only way out of her mess. He is club owner, a drug dealer, a killer.
Sofia is a girl with a tough past; she is a good girl who has had a rough past when she falls in trouble and her only options is Cameron. But by asking Cameron for help, she may have opened Pandora’s Box and instead of help, she may have unleashed things she would never had known about if she didn’t need help and if she hadn’t met Cameron. Cameron agrees to help her with her problem, in return though he will own her for two weeks. Oh this isn’t your sweet little dark romance, it is dark and delicious. This is a dark romance ,not for the faint hearted. Cameron is brutal where Sofia is sweet, he isn’t looking for her to heal him. He wants her body and soul. This story will entice you and have you all twisted and turned by the very end. You will love it and its creator. The way the author wrote this story , I found myself unable to stop reading and when it was over, I wanted more. Ms. Snow has this talent for taking dark taboo and making it enticing. I do hope Damien gets a book next.

Eccomi qui, con un genere che sto apprezzando davvero molto in questi ultimo periodo. Ho letto molti mafia romance, ma oggi vi parlerò di Affliction di Jenika Snow.
In questo romanzo troviamo Sofia, una ragazza che appare remissiva, accondiscendente e che si lascia trasportare dalla marea senza davvero fare qualcosa per ritornare a galla fino a quando non prende la scelta sbagliata dove la condurrà a chiedere aiuto a Cameron, un uomo della malavita, oscuro e pericoloso che sembra essersi invaghito di Sofia dal primo momento che il suo sguardo si è posato su di lei. Ma chiedere aiuto a lui significa dare qualcosa in cambio!
Non so dirvi esattamente cosa ho provato leggendo questo romanzo. La storia mi è sembrata troppo frettolosa, tutto si svolge in maniera quasi superficiale e avrei preferito che i personaggi si mostrassero di più, che il loro vero essere venisse a galla: Show don't tell.
Nonostante ciò, la scrittura dell'autrice è molto scorrevole e il romanzo si legge davvero bene e in poche ore.
Come sempre, ribadisco, che le letture sono soggettive, quindi ne consiglio assolutamente la lettura a chi ama il genere e non.

Avevo grosse aspettative su questo romanzo, ma purtroppo sono state disattese. La storia risulta banale, così come i personaggi. Nessun coinvolgimento emotivo. Confesso che ho faticato a finirlo, nonostante la brevità.

Quando ho letto la sinossi di questo libro la curiosità è salita alle stelle e mi ha subito affascinato pensare a come si sarebbe evoluta la storia. Peccato che non ha superato le mie aspettative, anzi, non ha raggiunto neanche l'1% di esse dato che la delusione è stata grande.
In questo racconto di ottanta pagine la protagonista è Sofia, una ragazza che lavora in un bar tutti i giorni e solo una sera a settimana va in un locale a ballare per la voglia di provare la sensazione dei corpi altrui contro il suo, tutto questo con lo scopo di sentirsi libera dai pensieri e dai suoi problemi di denaro. Una sera viene attaccata in un vicolo da un uomo violento e manesco che cerca di violentarla per fortuna viene salvata da uomini vestiti in nero.
Sofia si renderà conto troppo tardi di essersi immischiata in un mare di guai, ma proprio quando tutto sta per andare storto conoscerà Cameron, il proprietario del locale, che la spia da giorni con le sue telecamere e formuleranno un accordo: lui la aiuterà, ma in cambio lei gli darà il suo corpo.
Ho dovuto riflettere molti giorni prima di scrivere la recensione di questo racconto perché a partire dalla trama ho trovato tutto molto scoordinato, senza senso e senza equilibrio. Era come se tutti i fatti che accadessero fossero messi lì a caso, senza una spiegazione logica o un motivo valido.
Essendo un romanzo breve, la storia manca di sviluppo, personalizzazione, cambio di rotta; è un percorso lineare con piccoli alti e bassi. I personaggi non sono caratterizzati e la causa delle loro azioni, comportamenti non è approfondita. Le scene scorrono velocemente, senza darti il tempo di assorbirne il significato; si passa da un momento all'altro in un fiato, tutto troppo veloce e per essere un racconto di poche pagine ci può anche stare tutto questo, ma per il resto...
Oltrepassando il fatto che tutte queste caratteristiche mancano a causa della brevità della storia, l'autrice avrebbe dovuto concentrarsi su alcuni aspetti stilistici e di trama che, se trattati diversamente, avrebbero reso la storia più interessante.
La sinossi suscita più curiosità del libro in sé dove lo sviluppo degli eventi e la trama rappresentano un no sense globale. A mio parere, temi forti non possono essere raccontati in così poche pagine perché i personaggi risultano vuoti, privi di personalità e di emozione; sono dei robot che camminano e in un mafia romance è troppo importante per me che vengano approfonditi alcuni aspetti. Quando termini il libro, l'unica sensazione che resta è un vuoto più grande di prima, zero emozioni, solo confusione e senso di smarrimento. In un racconto così breve, sarebbe meglio trattare di temi più leggeri, frizzanti, un incontro improvviso, un colpo di fulmine, un appuntamento al buio, una conoscenza anche senza svilupparne il seguito. Per quanto mi riguarda, descrivere un amore che nasce in due settimane mi sembra troppo surreale, poco credibile e di conseguenza di scarso interesse. Per non parlare dello stile e di come è tradotto, l'ho trovato banale e con espressioni ripetute continuamente. Mi dispiace molto, ma non riesco a trovare una nota positiva in questo racconto, magari la copertina e la sinossi, infatti è a causa all'incipit che ho richiesto questo racconto ma se tornassi indietro non lo sceglierei nuovamente.

Lo stile di scrittura dell’autrice è interessante, anche se non entra mai troppo nello specifico. Alcuni momenti li ho trovati incompleti, molto rapidi. Non mi piacciono le storie d’amore troppo lente, ma nemmeno quelle troppo veloci: si rischia di non riuscire a godersi pienamente l’evoluzione delle vicende e dei personaggi.
Onestamente, mi sarebbe piaciuto leggere il passato di questi due protagonisti così complessi e tormentati. Che cosa li ha fatti diventare quello che sono?
Manca tutto il “prima”.
E questa mancanza, secondo me, rischia di rendere piatti i personaggi e diventa difficile, per chi legge, empatizzare con loro.
Sia Cameron che Sofia sono due personalità molto interessanti, ma appunto non vengono ben sviluppati, lasciando il lettore con l’amaro in bocca. Peccato.

He also allowed Sofia to be herself and realize they weren't so different after all.

Let's start with the positive points. I absolutely love the cover of this book, a hot tattooed model, what's not to love? The concept of a mob boss saving a damsel in distress was interesting but the way the whole story was carried out wasn't that great. I love a strong female character and Sofia had no such qualities. Even a damsel in distress can have strong fierce character but Sofia was just sad, depressed girl who's just living her life day by day not making any positive effects to change her circumstances. She was either really stupid or just a magnet for trouble as she got herself into these situations where she was attacked by three different men at three different times.
Cameron on the other hand reminded me of Christian Gray, so many similarities. Well, let's just say that this book didn't work out for me.

Questo dark romance contemporaneo ha tutti i requisiti per gli amanti del genere, con la giusta dose di oscurità, trasgressione, sesso e violenza, ho spazzato via le pagine una dopo l‘altra in un crescendo sempre più intrigante. Il mio giudizio però è stato capovolto dall‘epilogo, che ho trovato precipitoso e anche troppo discostante dal ritmo tenuto durante il corso della lettura. Peccato perché il potenziale c‘era ed era anche accattivante.
Le scene di sesso sono esplicite, coinvolgenti, descritte in un crescendo di grande sensualità, ma adatte a un pubblico adulto.
La narrazione è lenta, soprattutto all‘inizio e l‘ambientazione è cupa e degradante.
Sofia non è una brava ragazza, proviene dai bassifondi e poiché non ha mai avuto niente dalla vita, non pretende nemmeno cuori e fiori.
Per sopravvivere fa due lavori e vive ogni giorno come se fosse l‘ultimo, l‘unica trasgressione che si concede è quella di ubriacarsi e andare a ballare in un club, vestita in modo sconcio e strusciarsi addosso agli uomini come una sgualdrina. Ma Sofia in realtà è una donna inesperta e vergine in cerca solo di un po’ di sollievo dalle brutture quotidiane.
In seguito a una aggressione conosce il suo salvatore, Cameron Ashton, proprio luomo giusto per lei, in grado di offrirle la giusta dose di oscurità.

Cameron è un uomo misterioso e di poche parole, ricchissimo, con una guardia del corpo che cammina costantemente insieme a lui, è intimidatorio e dominante. È un uomo che nasconde ciò di cui ha bisogno e non vuole il conforto di nessuno.
I protagonisti sono ben assortiti in quanto due anime affini e unite dal dolore e dalla sofferenza e in questo la caratterizzazione dei personaggi è ben descritta. L’ambiente è congeniale all‘argomento trattato e quindi non compare la descrizione di grandi paesaggi ma perlopiù luoghi chiusi e strade desolate con prevalenza di dialoghi.
In questa atmosfera dove sensualità e mistero la fanno da padroni si instaurerà un legame tra i due molto particolare, tra colpi di scena e personaggi secondari ambigui e appartenenti al mondo oscuro della criminalità. Buona lettura!

I love that with every dark Jenika Snow novel I read, I will completely become enamored with a depraved and deadly man and a strong and sassy heroine who will be his match in every way. When I read the blurb for Affliction, I knew that I needed to read this novel as Cameron Ashton was a man I needed to meet. And boy was I correct! I absolutely loved this novel. There was a fantastic couple, danger, hot SEXY times and an almost underlying intensity throughout the entire novel.
Sofia Mikellson is in a bad spot in life. Forced to make a deal with Cameron Ashton in order to save herself, she doesn't realize until later that the unknown man with the dangerous reputation is far worse than the criminal she was dealing with. Forced to give herself to Ashton for two weeks, she doesn't know what being owned by the devil really means until now.
This was a quick read that hit the spot. I was intrigued with Cameron right away as he had an almost animalistic need for her. You could tell there was something about Sofia that drew him to her. I loved that Snow nailed the tension between them! It was so well done. You could feel their chemistry coming off the pages. I look forward to reading more from her in the future! 4 stars! ~Ratula

I don't know if I'm getting tired of how all the books in the real man series seem to be almost the same book, with a little change in the men and girls or what. This one just didn't do it for me. If you are a fan of Jenika's then I would say get it and read as you will enjoy it but if you have another book that you have wanted to read and you were waiting to get this one I would say go ahead and read the other one first then go to this one. Don't get me wrong I love Jenika Snow, I just think I'm tired of this line of books. I mean you could read it and fall in love with it, I just didn't. I hope Jenika moves on from the real man series and comes up with something new. Thanks for letting me read your book and thanks for writing so many books and getting them out fast, I never have to wait long to get a Jenika fix, but please move on from the real man series. thanks and I still love your books. So, I loved the plot of this story but the delivery was weak. The character development with Cameron was pretty much nonexistent and Sofia's weren't much better. Even though it was told through Sofia's POV, it almost felt like I was reading in third person (which is my least favorite). Cameron is supposed to be a badass crime lord of the underground but I never caught that vibe. His character just seemed to be more like a figment of Sofia's imagination. The chemistry between Damian (Cameron's guard dog) & Sofia was more obvious than between her and Cameron and that guy had maybe 4 lines throughout the entire story.
Luckily, this one is a quick read and won't take much time. Don't judge the book based on my review, I'm a loyal fan to the strong, dark, alpha males & prefer more detailed and raunchy bedroom scenes.
I feel like the "dark label" is very misleading for this one! Other than a weak attempt of a possible rape and the shooting of two wannabe thugs, there's nothing dark about it. BDSM & Erotica aren't really present either. A weak belt slapping on the ass in one scene is as close you'll get with this one.
Luckily, this one is a quick read and won't take much time. Don't judge the book based on my review, I'm a loyal fan to the strong, dark, alpha males & prefer more detailed and raunchy bedroom scenes.
I feel like the "dark label" is very misleading for this one! Other than a weak attempt of a possible rape and the shooting of two wannabe thugs, there's nothing dark about it. BDSM & Erotica aren't really present either. A weak belt slapping on the ass in one scene is as close you'll get with this one.

Sofia’s in a bad spot and needs money just to survive. Somehow she winds up owing a seriously bad guy money she doesn’t have. To save herself from a fate most likely worse than death, she appeals to an even worse guy, Cameron, to help her. A deal is reached and in trade for Cameron’s protection of her, she promises him herself for two weeks.
The story is about 70% Sofia’s internal monologue, 15% Cameron and Sofia interacting, 10% sex, and 5% descriptions of Cameron’s face and how it doesn’t express emotions. There’s very little character development. Sofia often appeared mute and Cameron was described like his face was so full of botox that it couldn’t flinch a millimeter. Surprisingly, despite an interesting plotline, there’s little actual plot. At times the book tries too hard to be poetic, but it often comes off as corny and fake. The whole story just seemed off and left me wanting more.

Okay, I'm not sure what to say. The story itself wasn't bad. It just wasn't for me I guess. I was irked by Sofia most of the time. She made things much harder for herself then they needed to be. Yeah, her situation wasn't ideal, when she needed to choose lesser evil of two. Though, I don't think there was a hardship to choose. Despite Camerons reputation, Sofia felt attraction for him from the beginning. And I wasn't sure why she was troubled by her feelings for him. It felt like Sofia was her own enemy sometimes.
The only thing I liked, was Cameron. I loved his darkness. I always preferred monster then prince charming.

This was a mysterious, dark and sexy read with some creepy moments about a young inexperienced woman who gets herself mixed up with the wrong people...and then has to turn to someone just as, if not more dangerous, than the ones she is trying to run from for help.
It had some predictable moments but was still very entertaining in a "leave me alone I'm reading" kind of way...steamy, erotic and dirty. I loved it.

Sofia is in a dark place in her head. She uses the club as her escape. Until one night things go from bad to worse. She makes a deal with a monster. In order to get out of it she makes another deal, this time with the devil... Cameron. These two bring out something other than the darkness and I loved that. I can't wait for another.
