Saving the world is rarely easy, but it helps if you know what you’re saving it from. Andur is a small-town fletcher who accidentally becomes responsible for the fate of the world due to a travelling adventurer’s untimely death. Setting out with nothing more than a good friend and a questionable clue, Andur’s small adventure soon snowballs into a complex and absurd quest. In a world where the bureaucracy of wizards can be more dangerous than their fireballs, the secret that Andur has been keeping may be the only difference between a lifetime of slavery and living happily ever after.
I am going to go ahead and admit that this is a totally biased review, because I am married to the author and I edited the book. However, I really truly do like it. It's the story of a completely average guy who is completely unprepared for the quest that he stumbles upon, and only continues with it because he feels like someone should. He has a number of light-hearted adventures and resolves some personal issues along the way. It is fantasy that doesn't take itself too seriously.
