Wren and Cali were sweet, if a little immature (in terms of expressing feelings). I would’ve loved to explore their goofy sides more.

The first half of this book was really engrossing. I liked the buildup, but it was once again unresolved. It’s a common theme of this series—introducing plots and then abandoning them.

Cali was an artist, and besides Wren getting her art supplies, we never got to see Cali get back into it. Wren talked about starting a private practice so he could have better hours, but he never did. Everything with Cali’s ex was “solved” (and technically started, if you hadn’t read the previous book) off-screen by a secondary character. Cali and Wren’s romantic relationship really started in the final pages, and then NOTHING.

These novellas could really benefit from an epilogue. It wouldn’t even have to be a “ten years later” epilogue. It could be a “two months later” epilogue where we see the couple settled and the characters at least starting to follow their passions.

I was anticipating getting my hands on this book ever since I read the excerpt in the previous book. It did not let me down, I loved it. Just one of the things I like most is the fact that all of the books are connected, but you can totally read them by themselves. I can’t say it enough that they all, especially this book, have the perfect amount of everything to make great stories.

Lucy saves Cali from an abusive boyfriend and brings her to Dr. Wren Richards home to keep house for him. Fun, short great friendship description . Enjoyable story.

I know that every time I start reading one of these books, I'm going to encounter some slop; it's a given, but there was no reason for the guy to be so sexist.

Not as good as the others first ones. It felt cold and not that interesting.

The fml came from an abusive relationship and started to live with the ml who lets her find her own place and happiness. She just came from an abusive relationship so he doesn’t get to close and try to start a relationship when she’s not ready which is super sweet. I’m glad Wren is there for her and helps her find her footing❤️

I am happy the abuser got his karma but the ending was way to short😔 I would have liked more of an epilogue of Wren and Cali

It’s not as funny as the other books either. I get why because she’s just gotten free from the abuser but still some should be between the good characters and lead?
But there is also no trauma reaction from Cali. Shouldn’t she have had some trauma and work through it in the book?

I enjoyed this short HEA contemporary romance novella. You can easily read it in one sitting of a couple of hours. Although the story is a standalone story, it does involve the same set of characters, from the 'Some Girls Do It series', which starts with Shy Girls Write it Better.

If you've read the first three installments of the series (Shy Girls Write it Better, Scrooge McFuck and Bring on the Psychobitch) you'll have a better idea of the motivations and backgrounds of the secondary characters. May Sage was very clever in writing the series on a variable timeline. So, as you read about some of the secondary characters, you already know what's in store for them and the fall out from certain actions they undertake.

As with the rest of the series, the characters were fun and engaging. The plot is fairly light and undemanding, but trots along nicely and you want the protagonists to make it as a couple. May injects just the right amount of romance, humour and steamy scenes to keep this reader interested and have her wanting to purchase the next installment!

My main issue was with the poor proof reading. As someone who does a lot of editing for work I found it quite distracting as there was a significant amount of very simple spelling mistakes and incorrect word usage, for example 'college' instead of 'colleague' came up a few times. This interrupted the flow of my reading as I felt it necessary to highlight and report all the content errors on my kindle.

Having read the previous three novellas I didn't expect the level of editing mistake I found in this story, which was disappointing.

All round a nice quick read, just a shame about the editing issues.

Another ‘must read’ book from May!

I love this series, it’s light hearted (most of the time) and hilarious in places. This book focuses on Wren and Cali, who we meet in Psycobitch. Their story is very sweet and you can’t stop yourself falling in love with Wren (and his back dimples).

The story:

Wren is brilliant. A little dorky and a heart bigger than anyone else’s. He’s perfect for Cali. Cali has had a bad few years. Lucy saved her from her ex in the last book and Trick has the idea of Cali working for Wren until she gets back on her feet.
Cali is sweet and inherently good. She wants to pay her way in life and hates accepting handouts. When Lucy saves her and insists on helping her get back on her feet she’s uncomfortable with it. When she meets the gorgeous surgeon, Wren, and is told she can live in his home in exchange for cleaning it she doesn’t feel like a charity case so accepts.
Wrens beautiful home is a complete mess. He is so busy he eats, sleeps, then goes back to work again. That’s his life and Cali is happy to be his house keeper. Their attraction is obvious to the reader but Cali isn’t ready, after just getting out of a bad relationship she’s decided she doesn’t want a man but can’t deny how sexy Wren is, especially when she catches him wiggling his butt with just a towel covering the important bits... he has back dimples that she can’t keep her eyes off.
Wren knows her ex was bad news, he doesn’t want the details though. He wants Cali to feel safe, to be happy, mostly he wants Cali to stay with him... he’s a man though so he has no real clue how to get Cali to be more than roommates, more than friends - so he wings it.
Can he be the man for Cali?
Will Cali realise how perfect she is for Wren?

Another great story!

This was the fourth book in the series, and it was another great addition to the series. The two are introduced in a previous book, but reading it is unnecessary here since all backstory needed is given. It was a short, sweet story showing how love can heal, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

This story focuses on Wren and Cali. Wren is a bachelor doctor with a few odd tendencies, and when Cali comes into his life, everything changes for them both. Cali comes from an abusive relationship, so she is avoiding men and doesn't trust easily. However, Wren discovers that he likes being able to come home to Cali and develops feelings for her. As he does that, he begins the process of wearing down her walls and helping her grow into the strong, confident woman she once was. Cali is brave and determined, and Wren is sweet and caring. I loved watching Wren's changing feelings throughout the book, but I still thought Cali's feelings changed a little too quickly.

Overall I really liked this book! It was short (ended at 82%) and sweet, but despite the length, there was still plenty to like. I was still invested in the couple, and it wasn't total instalove. The story flowed well, and there were minimum grammar mistakes. For a short fun read, you can't go wrong with this book! I recommend it!

Wren oh Wren! When the man was introduced in the 3rd book of the series I knew I wanted him to have his book. And with his personality, Cali even thought he was an endangered species. It was also nice to have the usual winks to the other books and to see how the relationships developed.
It was really cool to see Cali and Wren new life and the plans they come up at every new challenge.
But apart from the characters and the smart-ass story, I loved this book because of the more serious matter of abuse, justice and racism. The effort to be better each day and work to do what you want. Small and big things we encounter each day and the courage to achieve our dreams were a big part of the plot and gave it a hopeful side.
I wonder which man of the band are going to be the next victims of Some girls.

LOVE Them Back Dimples!

May Sage has done it again. The Some Girls Do It series has another hot sweet hero and fans of HEA will rejoice. Dr. Wren Richards thought he was helping a friend of a friend when battered and terrorized Cali moves in to be his live-in housekeeper. She can hide out from her violent ex while she heals and gets her life together. He's got space to spare and since he is a workaholic, he only comes home to sleep - alone. But Cali is beautiful and sweet, and he's not blind or stupid, so that situation changes! The interplay between them is so charming. They're great together, and Sage's snarky wit shines bright in their dialogue and the narrative. Can't wait for more from Ms. Sage.

After the history that Cali has behind her, it's anyones guess why she would want to even get close to another man so quickly, but she's instantly attracted to Wren. Surgeon extraordinaire, the owner of the house where she's a live-in maid and her saviour. Before she arrived Wren was completely happy with the messiness that was his home, but now that she's inserted herself into his life his mind can think of nothing but her.

I was really disappointed with this one. It was all going really well until the ex boyfriend showed a letter and then Wren got his brother (from no where) to fix it. Which, happened outside of the novella as well. I was really hoping that the novel would take a bit of a twist towards thriller.

I'm not sure if this is my least favorite of the 4 Some Girls Do It books because they all get a bit repetitive or because Cali feels unrealistic. Maybe a bit of both. I like Cali. I like Wren. I like the premise of roommates turned couple, and the scene where he walked in on her was a wonderful balance of funny and embarrassing (but why didn't he stick around?!). The problem is that Cali feels pretty two dimensional. Maybe she's just incredibly strong and rebounded emotionally on a dime. But she stayed in an abusive relationship for YEARS, which makes that seem unlikely - seems like there should be some emotional baggage there to work through and it's just lacking.

Dude, I freaking loved this book! I'm telling ya if I ever get up enough lady balls to write a book I'd want it to be in her style. I think I may love this series better than the others I've read. I just love how the characters she writes just mesh together so well. The writing style I think I like the best. Just so light-hearted and, like I said before, a bit naughty. May Sage, you have officially gotten my thigh clenching stamp of approval. I can't wait to see what witty characters you've come up with next!

This is a cotton candy romance all the way through. It only lasts a short amount of time, super sweet, no bite and it doesn’t leave any kind of imprint on your life ... it’s not bad, but it isn’t something memorable either. If you have hours to kill on a train journey or are waiting for IT to restart the server, this would be the perfect romance ... like fast food for your little romantic heart. PS: can you see any back dimples on this cover? Maybe it’s my eyesight?!

Another installment in the Some Girls do world

I am doing a re-read of this series before reading the latest. I forgot how much I enjoyed reading them. This one earned 5 stars because: loved Wren's whimsy, love and patience, also love the recurrence of Amelia. The author did a fantastic job of allowing the character to make a fantastic set of social commentaries regarding micro abrasions that happen to minorities

2ND reading

Still a very interesting story to read this second time!I started with #1 which May gets you very interested in all her characters in a way you NEED to see how everything turns out! This story has always made me wonder if she would ever come back to this series and write about the shady brother Ralph! He always seemed to be a more clandestined character that maybe had CIA connections!

More Greatness by May Sage

I absofreakinglutely adore May's Some Girls Do It series!! Somehow each book is better than the one before. I love how they are connected yet every one is a standalone. They are brilliantly written with sexy love scenes, friendships being built, the perfect amount of drama and sweetness.
Cali is lucky to be alive and free from her hell. Spending the last few years with a very abusive boyfriend, she thought she would never get out. Thanks to her new friend Lucy, Cali has a chance at a fresh new start without being afraid all the time. Wren, a always working doctor, is happy to help when his friends ask if Cali may stay with him. Wren is attracted to Cali from the beginning but knows he has to be careful not to come on too strong and scare her. Cali is also attracted to Wren but doesn't completely trust her judgment after her last relationship. Will they ever act on their mutual attraction?

Them Back Dimples by May Sage is a fun and quick read. Wren and Cali's story is loaded with drama, awesome humor and spice. Ms Sage has furnished this book with awesome, lovable characters. Again, editing could have been better, but it didn't stop me from enjoying the book. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

Dr. Wren Richards is extremely dedicated and making great progress as a surgeon. Through friends, he ends up letting Cali stay with him after she escapes an abusive relationship. In exchange for a place to stay, she insists on keeping his place clean. When Cali starts getting her life together will Wren be ready to let her go? Nice story with likable characters.

Good book

The books in this series are good and short. I really enjoy them but wish they were more fleshed out and steamier and had better resolution at the end. I also wish the continuity from book to book was better. If you enjoy easy-to-read, quick, enjoyable romance books with a great sense of humor and sass, then this series is for you.

I loved the first two books in the Some Girls Do It series. The third was jumpy and unclear in places, and this one is the same. The characters are fun and interesting, and the romance has potential, but it seems like the novella length has defeated the author, making the book feel incomplete.

Let's be honest this series is just short, fast reads to unwind with.
There is no need for negative reviews and reading too much into them. They are not pretending being something they are not. I had fun reading them and I was not annoyed by their plot or moral issues.
This book was cute and the characters were more relatable than the previous ones. Maybe because billionaires weren't involved.

Wren is a sexy surprise

Wren and Cali are a "meant to be" couple. He gave her the time and space to overcome a traumatic relationship. She gave him a taste of what being a couple was like. And in the end, the gave each other a very special "surprise". I love May Sage!

Short, but good story. I really liked Wren's character. Introduced to a number of secondary characters. Would love to read Anna and Finn's story and more about Wren's brother Ralph. Liked the excerpts on authors other books and will definitely try to read them.
