ABC See, Hear, Do gets 5 out of 5 stars. This book has a ready to go and simple for parents to use. This book is simple enough for the young audience, and it is also effective for kids to learn. This book has useful information for the parent/teacher yet the information doesn't overwhelm; it only informs. Simple and colorful pictures, and a teaching method that had my husband laughing at me as I was practicing by myself sums up why this book earned a full 5 stars.

ABC See, Hear, Do really is a great book to help teach your child the sounds letters make. If you have a toddler, preschooler, or kindergartner that you want to teach definitely look at this affordable and fantastic workbook/tool.

After using ABC See, Hear, Do, my son can read his first words at two years old. It's one thing to know the letters and sounds but another to put them together to make words. This method has helped my son form words as he acts out motions associated with each letter and sound. I'm definitely recommending this book to my friends!

I LOVED this method for teaching letter sounds. My barely three-year-old received this as a Christmas present, and by the end of January, he knew all his letter sounds, and with my help, he's beginning to blend sounds into words. I even caught him sharing the book with his baby sister. As a former teacher with a Masters in Education, I know that reaching students with multiple learning modalities is crucial in education-- especially early childhood education. Stefanie Hohl's method includes three learning modalities: visual, auditory AND kinesthetic to teach phonetic awareness. It is so simple and makes so much sense. Have I mentioned how much I love this method? I recommend it to any early reading instructor, preschool teacher, parent and/or Storytime leader.

This book is amazing! It is not like any other alphabet or first-reading book out there. I am not exaggerating when I say that I found it to be groundbreaking, in such a great way! You may, like I did, think it looks cute but unassuming at first. Don’t be fooled—get your child on your lap and start going through it with them, and then you’ll see the magic happen! Because the child sees a picture, says the sound, and makes the hand movement, it feels like a game to them. And for those same reasons, because they experience the letter in so many different ways with different senses, they retain what they learn extremely quickly and firmly. I was astounded with just how crazy-fast my 3-year-old learned the sounds and hand motions for the letters. Not only that, but as soon as we reached the end of the book, he asked to begin again. It was really fun for him! If you are looking for a book to help your young child learn his or her letters, run to get this book! If you just want a book that engages your child a unique, fun way, get this book—learning to read simple words will just be a happy bonus.

My energetic 2 year old opened the Amazon envelope yesterday and we read the first three pages. He is a very active little boy and LOVES THE MOTIONS and SOUNDS for the letters.
Well this morning I was making breakfast and my 8 year old found the book and started looking through it with our 2 year old. NO KIDDING --- our 2 year old read the 5th page by himself. I got it on video as I thought it was cute they were reading together. WE WERE BLOWN AWAY that only after a few times doing the actions and sounds that our 2 year old (3 in July) picked it up and put sounds together. I need to post it on YouTube! :)
Absolutely 5-star rating!! Would be perfect for families, preschools, grandparents, libraries. So grateful for this book as it's exciting for my oldest to have fun with my youngest! Love it!!!

This book is so fun and delightful! There are so many things introduced in this book that children naturally love and are curious about: capital and lower case letters, sounds, colors, movement, animals, and words! Children want to feel successful and ABC See, Hear, Do offers several ways for children to progress in their learning while having fun at the same time!

Alphabet books can be valuable for teaching kids the sounds that letters make — but only if they are fun to read! ABC See, Hear, Do by Stefanie Hohl is a highly interactive and fun book for early readers; it features amazing animal photographs on each page in an entertaining format and teaches the phonetic sounds in an order that allows the children to quickly learn to read many words rather than in ABC order. On each page, you’ll find a letter (e.g. “C”), Letter sound (e.g. C-c-c-c), and a colorful picture of an animal making the hand movements associated with that sound (e.g. throwing our hands in the air like we’re scared) that makes this book a perfect resource for kids to learn their letters and sounds.

Stefanie has used effective techniques such as pictures, sounds and hand motions to help kids learn the sounds these letters make, making it easy for kids to remember the sounds with the help of hand motions and then practicing sounds in group of four letters at a time to blend sounds together to form a word. This unique method of teaching is highly effective and will help parents to maximize their kids learning capabilities and turn reading time into a fun activity.

ABC See Hear, Do includes both upper and lower case letters displayed on each page along with a variety of beautiful animal images corresponding to each letter sound and the hand motions. I like that this book isn't just your normal alphabet book telling you the alphabet and giving an example. It includes 55 simple words in big, bold letters and kids are encouraged on sounding them out. E.g. “RIP, TIP, MAP, SAP, BIG, PIG.” It conveys the excitement of learning to read and encourages children to begin looking more closely at words and gives them an opportunity to sound out words one letter at a time.

Overall, a very beneficial book that could be used in any lower elementary classroom. The illustrations are colorful and captivating and little ones will be fascinated with this book, it's fun and educational. It allows them to have fun while learning their ABC's.

This book is perfect. Children will learn sounds and letters quickly. They will be able to match letters to their sounds after you read the book to them. The book is fun, cute pictures, and easy actions to help all types learn and remember letter sound basics. Even if you think he/she isn't ready yet, I know this book will be an amazing starter for them and you will be surprised at all they can gain from it. Definitely recommend getting it for your little ones.

This is a book for kids with large, bright illustrations designed to teach children the sound a letter makes, not the letter's name. It's a good idea and very useful for when children are learning to read. It isn't ordered alphabetically but rather in groups of about four letters at a time.

In all this is one fun and useful book!

not so…

I think kindergarten teachers are better to evaluate the approach of this book in educating children how to read. But… for me the approach and images were disappointing

I think this book is great. I plan to take it to the dyslexic reading center where my son goes for tutoring to get their thoughts on it. I think this book could help a lot of kids. I am not an expert when it comes to these types of books and the effectiveness in teaching reading, but I think it could really work with kids, like my son, who suffer with reading issues. The text is simple and combines so many different elements to help learn new words and sounds. I see some of these methods used at the tutoring center. I think that when trying to help kids who snuggle to read we should exhaust all methods to help them become successful readers. A must have for all parents!

I had tried other resources to help my 4 year old learn to read, but nothing worked as quick and clearly as this book did. He was blending within 5 minutes and gained so much confidence. The 3 types of learning approaches is so smart and applicable to kids! He has even moved on to other simple books and started reading those. This is his favorite though and he pulls it out everyday to read to others and builds confidence and gets excited every single time. Thanks for the great book!

Hello, everybody! Today’s book is ABC See, Hear, Do: Learn To Read 55 Words by Stefanie Hohl, an alphabet and word comprehension method developed to help toddlers learn to read.

Created by Hohl, a mother and children’s author/illustrator/educator, the ABC See, Hear, Do method ties together a letter’s shape (C) with its sound (C-c-c-c) and an action to represent it (scratching one’s fingers like a cat). Hohl’s assertion is that by giving children a visual, auditory and physical association for each letter, it can help them memorize the letters and sounds, eventually tying them together to create words. Each page in the book features a letter, it’s phonetic pronunciation, and an illustrated animal making the gesture associated with it, with regular breaks to attempt short three-letter words with the letters the reader has just learned.

It’s tough to give a comprehensive review on the book’s method, as we’ve only just read it for the first time today, but I would definitely say that it has promise. JJ was able to mimic the gestures I demonstrated for her while making the letter sounds (she has already begun learning letters, so we’re at a good point for her to start this method), and seemed to enjoy both the actions and illustrations. She was not quite ready to attempt the words yet, so we will see. But overall, this seems like a unique way of encouraging pre-readers to learn their letters and words, especially very visual and/or physical learners, and we will likely continue to try it with JJ. If this seems like a good way to help your little one get on the track to reading, I would definitely check it out! Baby Bookworm approved!

Are my kids the only ones who fall asleep while learning phonics? Well, this book solves that problem for my active kids and any others like them. Stefanie combines learning phonics with hand motions to get the kids up and doing while also learning to read. Hey guess what kids, reading CAN be fun!

My son has had no interest in letters and I have not been able to teach him any of them until we read this book. It is so engaging and he likes making the sounds along with the action. My 4 year old who is already reading loves it too and it's fun because he read use it to teach his brother.
