About the author

Born in 1964, is a psychiatrist and has authored several collections of prose and poetry. She graduated from Tbilisi State Medical University in 1989, and got the degree in psychiatry. After graduating the University, she worked at Tbilisi Psychiatric Hospital. Afterwards Maka Mikeladze started writing and publishing her creative works; her debut poetry collection Woman was published in 2000. Since then her literary works has attracted Georgian readers and critics alike. In 2003 Mikeladze's acclaimed short story Flash was included in popular modern prose anthology ‘15 Best Short Stories’ published annually by Bakur Sulakauri Publishing and years later, in 2011, the same work appeared in anthology ‘Georgian Short Stories of the 21st century’ among other 30 selected stories by various authors. Maka Mikeladze in collaboration with Beso Khvedelidze has written an experimental novel Duck’s Tolma which was based on her personal experiences of psychiatrist and was characterized as psychedelic-schizophrenic novel, which was quite a novelty in Georgian literary scene. In 2011 she was awarded literary award SABA for her most recent prose collection Me and My Kusturica. English translation of her work A Story of Sex was included in ‘Contemporary Georgian Fiction’ by Dalkey Archive Press in 2012 and her short story Rewriters was published in anthology of contemporary Georgian women writers - ‘Techno der Jaguare - Neue Erzählerinnen aus Georgien’, published by Frankfurter Verlagsanstalt 2013.

დაამთავრა თბილისის სახემწიფო სამედიცინო ინსტიტუტის სამკურნალო ფაკულტეტი ფსიქიატრის სპეციალობით 1989 წელს.

ინსიტუტის დამთავრების შემდეგ მუშაობდა ქალაქის ფსიქიატრიულ საავადმყოფოში, შემდეგ რესპუბლიკურ ფსიქიატრიულ საავადმყოფოში., 1986-1991წწ. მოდელად სააგენტო "ნოემა"–ში., შემდგომ ტატიშვილის სახელობის რეაბილიტაციის ცენტრში "ნაუტილუსი" ფსიქოთერაპევტად.
