The Bride Hunt #5

Forbidden Dragon

Rate this book
A Dragon Shifter Novel
There are secrets that the humans must never find out. Secrets that would bring about the demise of the dragon species. The dragons have something that the humans want and would fight to get.

Their weakness to silver is the one area that humans have exploited in the past, almost bringing the dragon species to their knees. New information has come to light proving that this affliction is an allergy. One that can potentially be beaten.

Dr. Louise Parry is a top physician in her field. She is also kind and compassionate, someone the dragons can trust. She is tasked with finding a cure. A job she does not take lightly. Thankfully, she has very little dealings with the bad-tempered king. There is something about him that has her heart beating faster and a flame of awareness igniting inside her. She can’t understand why, since he’s rude and abrasive.

Granite wants a cure found. The sooner the better. He keeps a close eye on the whole project and moreover, on the little human spearheading the whole thing. Trust is not something that comes easily to him. If she thinks he’ll allow himself to become blinded by her soft, sweet demeanor and lush curves, she’s got another thing coming. Touching the female is off limits. Against every rule in the book. It’s strictly forbidden.

The Story Contains strong sexual themes/language and is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

I just love dragons and Troy Duran!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙🤎🖤
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍
Character development: 😍😚😉🥰
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The Hero: Granite - The dragons had nearly been decimated in the past due to their weakness to silver. If they get found again by the humans, they will be in big trouble again, especially with modern day weapons. Granite the Earth King and is in charge of a project to beat the dragon’s affliction to silver.

The heroine: Dr. Louise Parry - A doctor charged with curing the dragon shifter’s allergy to silver. She thought Granite was the most handsome man she ever saw, but has a strict no fraternization clause in her contract. Which she was fine with. She had only ever been attracted to sweet, kind, scholarly types of men, which are the total opposite to the grumpy king.

The Story: Granite doesn’t feel like the resistance immunotherapy is coming along fast enough. So he volunteers to be part of the study by injecting himself with a much larger amount of silver than Louise was previously using on the study participants. He said Dragons are strong and could handle much larger exposures than humans could bear. Granite finds himself attracted to the little human female despite her prissy attitude.

The book is told in dual points of view via dual narration. It was narrated by Troy Duran and Stella Bloom. I find myself searching out books that Troy narrates since I like his voice so much. He has a deep and expressive sounding voice which is great. Stella has a soft but clear feminine voice which is very pleasant to listen to.

I have liked this series and this one was a bit different than the rest with Louise knowing about the Dragon shifters and working for them. She was able to adjust to life with the dragons very easily. There was a ton of sexual tension between Granite and Louise and the story was original. I liked the bantering between these two characters quite a bit.

My only problem with this is that once the two main characters became intimate, they hooked up every other scene, which got a bit repetitive for a while. I like a good story mixed with a few sexy scenes, when there are too many intimate scenes that they take over the focus of the story, it gets to be too much and I end up skipping over large parts of the book.

Forbidden Dragon is the thrilling fifth installment in The Bride Hunt series. The story follows characters who must run for their lives from creatures they never knew existed.

While each book can be enjoyed as a standalone, it's best to read them in order to fully appreciate the rich paranormal elements and exciting themes they offer. The characters just need to stay alive, but what they discover is more significant than they ever imagined.

I love the strong, sexy alpha males in protective roles!

i liked it!! liked it a lot. It was a great romance with all the spicy ingredient and I enjoyed the length of it.
And it also felt a bit different, no common background in the female character. Just refreshing.
Now I can't wait for October... yes, that was the hint for the next book.... til October, many more months to go! :(

Absolutely wonderful.

Love this series. I highly recommended this series. This is Louise and Granite's story. It full of a dragon male who is grumpy and full of himself. Well that's what Louise thinks anyways. Dr. Louise is a allergist specialist. She's there to help try and solve the shifters allergy to silver. If one giant aggravating controlling sexy as sin king dragon would leave her be and let her do her work. When on stag run turns into a full blown affair can these two keep it secret and keep their hearts out of it.

Yes! The underlying story has been brought to the forefront as the dragons desperately pursue a cure for their silver “allergy.” Enter Dr Louise Parry an allergy specialist who is running a trial slowly introducing silver to the earth dragons to help them over come their weakness.

Honestly Louise is kind of a pushover though a genuinely sweet person. Granite is kind of an uptight ass though you can tell he greatly cares for his people. I felt like their story is a little rushed for some reason, but I really feel the dragon shifter plot as a whole starting to come together. I’m hoping for great things to come for our dragons.

One of my favorite authors

If you like dragons and hot steamy scenes, this is for you. Granite is moody and keeps lying to himself he doesn't have feelings for Louise. Louise is a smart sexy Dr who is there to help the dragons get over their silver allergy. Since she is an employee it's forbidden for her to have a relationship with any Dragon. So secret steamy relationship it is.

This wasn't what I was expecting and I say that in a good way. The books of this series have been a hit or miss for me. The last one being my favorite. Though, this one was right up there. It had tons of sex... and when I say tons... I Mean LOOOOTTTSSSS... which kinda took away from the story since it was basically one big book with hot shifter sex. I really loved Granite and Louise as a couple. They had hilarious banter. People respected her. Their love/hate relationship was cute and frustrating. The end was great. I don't have any complaint really, aside from the sex, for once, actually taking away from the story a little because there was so much.-- At least it felt that way to me.
I love Charlene and I don't think there's many books she'd put out that I won't jump up and down to read. She's a fantastic author. This book was no exception. She has a way of painting the perfect alpha's. And most of her females are lovable... I can't wait for her next book.

Forbidden Dragon (The Bride Hunt Book 5)

This was one of my favorite books, I enjoyed it and I couldn't put it down. I would get upset when anyone would interrupt me when I was trying to read it.... I loved the love story~~~~~ In my opinion ~~ I have to say, if I had to compare 1 thing about the Dragon Men to Human Men is that they are so stubborn sometimes when love stares them right in the face they don't even realize it, LOL!!!
But, I can't give anything away from this wonderful book, from this series... I loved everyone of them, but this one was my favorite, I think they are all my favorite - I love the whole series
I definitely would recommend especially if you are interested in reading about paranormal, plus some HOT erotic scenes!!! Definitely a great twist ;-)

What an awesome addition to The Bride Hunt series! Could be read as a standalone but would make much more sense read in the order of the series. We also get a cameo with Titan the next vamp getting a book in The Program series! ( A Mate for Titan )
Forbidden Dragon is just that, if you have read the other books in the series you know their needs to be a hunt for a mate, but sometimes fate has other ideas. Great book, takes some unexpected turns along the way and unlike the other books in the series. Charlene will have your Kindle set ablaze with the steam coming from these two lovers. Then with a surprise ending you don't want to miss out on!

High Praise!

Normally I only rate the books I read. I am a Charlene Hartnady fan! I have been since I read the first book of The Program. I laughed, cried, and fretted with each heroine in each book. I moved one to each of her other series. The Bride Hunt series was a happy accident for me. I have loved each and every one up to this point and Forbidden Dragon did NOT disappoint. Can't wait for the next installment. Great job Ms, Hartnady, I love you writing style. Once again a book I couldn't put down even when my glasses were broken.

Great read

Love this series these dragon shifter males are seriously hot. This is another great book Granite king of the earth dragons is a bit of an arrogant ass but when Doctor Louise is employed to help with their silver allergy she challenges him in every way. These dragons need human mates to teach them how to behave and they all get taken down a peg or two. There is lots of sexual energy between these two and they can't leave each other alone eventually they end up together in love and hot list and with twin babies on the way. Can't wait for the next book. Great read.

My favorite dragon hunt

I absolutely loved Louise and Granite's love story! These two were so stubborn that it almost cost them their happily ever after. Granite is the king of the Earth dragons and his responsibilities have left him as a bit of a royal pain in the ass. But when he meets the human allergist that has come to help save his people he has met his match! Loved this and can't wait until October for the next book hopefully it's released early.

This was not my fave in the series, but it was not my least fave either. It was however a nice change of pace from the actual Bride Hunt of the story. It was also nice to see a Stag Run. We now know the secrets of how earth dragon young are conceived, carried, and birthed. So those are a few world building questions answered.

As for Granite, he was a little too grumpy and growly for my liking, I'm not really into the broody male.

I enjoyed Louise, it was interesting to see the work she was doing with them and how the project progressed.

I really liked Rock.

One thing that was nice with this one is that it ended with a bit of an epilogue, unlike the others were the ending felt very abrupt. This one at least had a tad follow up on the couple and made the ending a bit nicer for the reader. I say a bit because . . .

This ended again with still questions unanswered. So knowing the next book is the last I am expecting REALLY big things from that story. She has built this huge world and has only started to tell it's story and she is just going to end the series. So what happens to Torrent's 'daughter'? Why do the babies not have colored markings? What does that mean? How will they be different? Will the color come in later? What about the fire breathing baby? Will they figure out a way to make the female dragon shifters fertile again? And what happened to Ash and Scarlet, the two female dragon shifters from the first book? Were they punished? And what about Lava, did he win Roxy's friend in the Hunt? And then there are the Stag Runs, do the males use different names because some of their names would sound really strange? And what about their tattoos, those are really different and would be hard to explain, so do they leave their shirts on? or do they cover them up somehow? Are their names gender specific? Would a boy be named Ash or a girl be called Sand? Why are non royal markings silver when they are allergic to silver? I want to know all the things! So many questions and I have a hunch the author is not going to answer or even touch on much of these in the last story. She is so focused on the couple in each book that the over arching story line is left lacking. I'd be fine with a longer book and a thicker plot.

I loved it!

Warning: mature sexual content, mature themes, and language.

It was so enticing that I couldn’t put it down, this book grabbed my interest from the very first page. I couldn’t put it down, I had to know what happened next. The story is well written with a very good storyline. This is book five of six of The Bride Hunt series.
(Set in the same world The Chosen Series)

Dragon shifters are a dying breed. There are so few females left that if drastic measures are not taken, and soon, it’ll be over for the species. The threat of extinction looms.

Granite wants a cure found, and the sooner the better. He keeps a close eye on the whole project and moreover, on the little human spearheading the whole thing, for trust is not something that comes easily to him. If she thinks he’ll allow himself to become blinded by her sweet demeanor and kissable lips, she’s got another thing coming, because touching the female is off limits, against every rule in the book, and it’s strictly forbidden. So with all that and more this story pulls you in and holds you tight. It’s a must read. I highly recommend to everyone.

Research and testing continued in an attempt to cure all dragons of their toxic reaction to silver. After evidence that hostile men had invaded dragon territory in search of dragon treasure, Dr. Louise Parry is ordered to step up her program to desensitize all dragons eliminating the threat that silver presents. Granite, the Earth Dragon King includes himself in this advanced program and sparks begin to fly between himself and the good doctor. I found their story to be completely captivating and very difficult to put down. Louise was an amazingly courageous individual and Granite's nobility extended beyond his position to include his character. His ability to admit that he was lying to himself and that he really wanted a future with Louise was the sign of a true ruler. I loved this story!!!!!

Louise and Granite

Louise is a doctor who specializes in curing allergies and is hired by Blaze, the king of the dragon kings, who is strongly interested in the study of reducing the deadly affects of silver on dragons. She is assigned to work in the territory of the earth dragon king, Graphite, who appears to be critical of Louise and her methods of testing. He insists on results in a much faster fashion and includes himself on the list of volunteers to be tested. This begins the volatile relationship between them which leads eventually to a sexual encounter. Because of a "no sexual contact" clause in their contracts, the couple's continued relationship becomes a secretive affair leading to various misadventures.
I enjoyed this book and recommend it to readers.

Didn't like this one as much.

Granite was an arse for most of the book. Don't know how Louise fell for him. Plus there was very little substance to our heroine. She was supposed to be a smart doctor but was clueless so much. She had no backbone, which was very frustrating at times.

The romance was really non existent. They felt list but no real relationship was actually developed.

The writing also felt a bit off at times. Like I sometimes felt there was sentences missing, and not everything was explained.

However, I still kinda like this series. It progressed the story on a bit. I'll still be checking out the rest of the series.

Best one in the series

Love this story. So much emotion yet a good read. Characters so real you could feel the tangle of emotions one’s self as Granite and Louise butted heads and hearts. I always get tickled by the combination of innocent naivety and cluelessness of the dragon shifters mixed with their own warrior minded bullheadedness. It even shows up in their “lores” which often make little to no sense in the grand scheme of things leading only to mixed up relationships. Thankfully, things always work out for all concerned. Ms. Hartnady really DOES know who to write and I enjoy every book of hers I have read.

Loose is hired to help the dragon shifters overcome their toxic reaction to silver

Louise considers this ground breaking research with trying to help the dragon shifters overcome their fatal allergy to silver. She is very dedicated and cares greatly for her patients. Her contract forbids any sexual contact with the dragon shifters and she must work with arrogant Granite who is King of the Earth Dragons. The last thing she or Granite expected was to become involved or to fall for each other.

holy earthquake

Oooooh I didn’t see that ending coming!!! Things are looking up and getting better!! I’m loving this series! I knew something was different about Granite just from him having small appearances in the other books. Some parts of me thinks he’s still a jerk however he was being stubborn and clueless so I’ll forgive him lol. Louise is adorable! And I liked that she and the other earth dragons had light hearted moments. I especially liked Rock!
I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Good reads but...

I've been binge-reading this author for days and these are very good reads, but the women give in so easily it's ridiculous. Truthfully, I've been trying to find one stellar read where the woman has just a little bit more integrity and won't put up with the man's ish. If you can look past the weak women, you've got yourself six-star reads to enjoy many times over.

I liked this book best in the series so far. While all of these in the series have a sameness, the flavor was a little different and I liked it. You were introduced to the Earth dragon clan and how they are different from the other dragon shifters. The H/h provided plenty hot smutty shifter sex. I appreciate that while the attraction was immediate it wasn't insta-love.

This is the Bride Hunt book #5 I loved it. We haven't read much about the Earth dragons because according to the other books nobody really knows anything about them. So I found it quite amusing to read about the doctor who was helping to cure them of their silver aversion. Grant put himself in the program found more than he bargained for. LOVED IT!

Great Story

I have this book 5stars because after reading over 20 of her books she somehow manages to find a new creative way to bring couples together. What a great imagination. This couple was great and absolutely combustible together. I also appreciate that she brings in characters from previous stories to support the main characters. DanaLynn
