So far, I've read one book in this collection. I'll add reviews to this as I read the books.
5 Stars - Review for Bleeding Hearts by Ash Krafton:
I’ve been looking forward to reading this story since I first heard about it. The waiting was well worth it! BLEEDING HEARTS hooked me from the very first page. I loved Sophie’s wit, sarcasm and bravery. She handled things a bit better than I would have in the same situation! Marek’s overwhelming darkness drew me to him. He was sexy, dark and oh, so dangerous! The mythology behind the vampires in this urban fantasy was something I haven’t read before and I loved the Egyptian angle. Sophie pulled me into her world and I was reluctant to part with it in the end (luckily there is a sequel!). The anguish these characters go through really pulled at my heart, making this a very emotional story, not only for Sophie and Marek but also the other characters I fell in love with, like Jared and Rodrian. This novel is filled with light and dark, good and evil, and a love that is tested beyond all limits. Ash Krafton’s writing is amazing and I simply cannot wait to read the next book in this series.

This anthology set contains full-length reads from various authors. These reads will take you all over the spectrum of possibility from slow, steady, fast, dark, suspenseful, thoughtful, predictable, twist, to just plain full surprises.
This book is part of the Spellbound Anthology collection and the first of the Demimonde series by Ash Krafton. Vampires and demi-vampires and other paranormal royalty rule this read. If you are a lover of vampires and all their ubërness, sensual beauty, broody moods, extravagant richness, and more that goes along with the undead and their kind, you will find that you are enjoying this one. This was a full-blown read. No quickie here. There was a fully contained and developed story of the vampire kind and the one woman that stumbles across them and their world. There most certainly was much more than that.
Sophie takes a journey in a world that she had never dreamed of. Seduction, greed, wealth, power, deceit, and overt sexuality. There was much her that lends to a new take on vampires and their creation. There were myths and legends. This was a read that took a lot of time for you to feel that you connect to the content. The beginning was a bit slow but full of information that you would need to follow the remaining story line. I got wrapped up in what was going on and who was who and doing what to who. This was engrossing and intriguing.

I read "A Faetful Encounter", one of the stories from this collection:
I was sent a copy of "A Faetful Encounter" by Tom Shutt in return for an honest review. This has in no way impacted my review.
"A Faetful Encounter" is a quick and easy read, that stays true to the urban magic feel without adding too much background details that is so prevalent in the genre. Even someone with little background knowledge of the world Shutt has built would find the story easy to follow. The plot is entirely separate, although Kerrigan (the main character) is one of the leading characters of "Murder Sidhe Wrote", which the story is a companion too.
This story itself is based around one of the jobs given to Kerrigan on the day before Halloween, while she would much rather be home. It gives a quick insight into the word of the MAB - Magically Armed Brigade - and of magical law enforcement, while remaining true to the glimpses we see in "Murder Sidhe Wrote". I enjoyed seeing it from a different perspective, as well as a different look at how an urban magic world could work. While the premise sounds like an adult-intended Artemis Fowl, it was much more than that.
The main characters, Kerrigan, is written to be true to life way, despite being a faerie. It discusses the woes of trying to get time off around the holidays and dealing with the fragile masculinity of many of the men she is working with, all within the first few pages. Even though these are just background mentions within a much larger story, they make the narrative seem much more personal, despite not being of a personal tone. Kerrigan's life reflects that of many, even though she isn't even the same species.
The writing itself was easy to read, with details descriptions that easily fitted within the flow of the story. I found that I couldn't put the book down in the end, too busy enjoying the easy prose to stop myself from reading it in one sitting. And, thankfully, with the length of the story, this is easy to do.
One thing that I enjoyed about story is the fact that it was clearly leading somewhere, what with [the unexplained deaths], but without there being a cliff-hanger. It was my choice to read on, but it could also be a standalone book with little trouble. I can't wait to read more from this world, as it is slowly expanded.

Murder Sidhe Wrote
I received this book for free in return for an honest review. I am reviewing this specifically for Tom Shutt.
I enjoyed this story about Siobahn, a gamer girl trying to get a following on YouTube. She goes to a Halloween party with her best friend and roommate. But, instead of just having a night of fun and relaxation, a rogue witch turns everyone there into the creature of the costume they are wearing.
The plot is fast paced, but easy to follow. The author did a really good job of fitting the characters into their new roles. I really appreciated the way he showed that the change did not really change who they were inside. And he really showed how Siobahn felt socially awkward at the party, but was determined to enjoy it anyway.
I was left wondering about Cade, the unhappy young man that checked her coat. It felt that he knew more than the story revealed.
This was a very entertaining story that I would recommend to anyone that enjoys the paranormal.

This was an interesting short story set in the Accidental Fae setting of Murder Sidhe Wrote. In this story, Kerrigan, a member of the Magically Armed Brigade, must subdue and relocate a troll living under a railway bridge in Philadelphia. Three people have gone missing and the troll is blamed for the disappearances. This story grabbed my attention at the beginning because trolls are not the usual characters in modern story telling. The plot was easy to follow and kept my attention. I was a bit confused when he described Kerrigan as being shorter than several small children, but appeared to be a private security guard. Why wouldn't everyone think she was a child in costume and not a real guard. The author did a very good job of portraying the differences in the way men and women are treated in the workforce. And I loved the way Kerrigan completed the job in a peaceful manner with no one being hurt. I cannot wait for more stories in this series.

I purchased this boxed set for the variety of 20+ stories it included. Below is a review of one of them by a new author to me who has now become a favorite! The rest of the selections are also great reads, so you won't want to miss this set!

Samhain was approaching and the Magically Armed Brigade in Philadelphia was expecting trouble during this particular holiday. Kerrigan had requested this time off in advance but was now arguing with the boss about having to deal with a troll under a bridge, especially when she had already put in a full day of work. But she was assured that after she took care of the troll, a few hours’ work, she could have that time off.
Kerrigan armored herself and headed to the Reading Terminal viaduct. It was pitch black and her wand provided some violet light. She talked in a quiet voice to the troll and it finally answered. Feeling a slight movement of air, she quickly moved aside just as a hairy arm with huge claws sliced through the air beside her! Getting knocked to the ground, Kerrigan held back on her attack and tried to talk to the troll. She didn’t want to harm it. So she negotiated with the troll in its simple vocabulary. Would she get through to him? Would he cooperate? Or was this just the start of a nasty battle that couldn’t end well?
This was an excellent story to get to know the characters and to see how the MAB functions. Kerrigan was very impressive by the way she behaved toward the troll. She stood her ground and actively tried to persuade rather than force the creature that was far more powerful and could possibly kill her. Starting with this story will lead the reader to a better understanding of Murder Sidhe Wrote which is also included in this box set. Enjoy! This fast-paced story line is perfect and the suspense will carry the read along to a satisfying solution. Highly recommended!

I am writing a review for Tom Shutt's book Murder Sidhe wrote and Faetful Encounter after receiving an Arc of his books, although I did purchase this book as well.
Faetful encounter appears to be a short prequel to Murder Sidhe Wrote which introduces us to Kerrigan a character that appears in Murder Sidhe wrote. I found it a very nice introduction to her and what she does for a living. adding in a Troll encounter made it extra fun.
Murder Sidhe Wrote was a very interesting book with a very imaginative storyline. I really enjoyed it. My only issue was that I personally was hoping Siobhan's relationship was going to go Heimrald's way....I felt there was a little angst there and I really enjoy romantic interests where there seems to be a challenge. but overall this book was well written and extremely entertaining.
I will review the other books when I have time to read them.

A weird and wonderful story, lots of fun to read. Twists galore and exciting characters.
Judging by this story I'm buying the set and will review the others when I've read them. Bargain.

Siobhan is dressed as a fairy, she now has the powers of a fae. Her roommate is dressed as a goddess, yep, Dana is now a powerful goddess. Fascinating characters, laugh out loud funny, magic and mayhem ensue in this exciting, and sometimes suspenseful read. Fantastic book, I loved it, and look forward to more books from this author.

After devouring my free copy of Tom Shutt's book, I decided to buy the boxset, simply because I enjoyed his so very much.
I cannot wait to read the next book in his "Accidental Fae" series! And of course, I hope to discover many more in this boxset. (Though, I have to admit, I'm not overly fond of boxsets.)
So, more about "Murder Shide Wrote" (and yes, this is my honest opinion/thoughts on it): simply put, it is an exciting and original story. It is well written, and well, just exceptional!
I cannot wait to read the next book in his "Accidental Fae" series! And of course, I hope to discover many more in this boxset. (Though, I have to admit, I'm not overly fond of boxsets.)

I am on book 6 in this collection and have already veered off twice to finish reading the series by the authors off of their first books. I buy these all the time and never read them. I know it's sad. However if I make it through this one, I will go back and read the others! What a great collection of stories and worlds and characters!

Cliffhangers or "Book One"
I was pretty disappointed. Every story was a cliffhanger. One I really enjoyed, spent $4.99 for Book 2, only to find myself with another cliffhanger a no a book three that wasn't published yet.
A few stories I had already read in other collections.

Creativity Excels
Worlds and dramas cover the scenes in this book. The author keeps the reader involved in the lives of its characters and keeps all the scenes real for the reader. Slow at times, but new twists keep you reading.

Delightful series of first's
Wonderful collection of books in series that are original and the nicest way to introduce you to an author. You will be intrigued by variations in the subject matter and how well the authors handle it. Great for groups 14 and older due to violence.

Full of good stories
Each story is a great read & leads to interesting series to try next. I only knocked off a star for grammatical errors. A good proofreading would take care of that, & it's not a problem for all the stories.

Well, I read A Faetful Encounter, at least. I found it OK but lacking the fun level of Murder Sidhe Wrote.

Murder Sidhe Wrote by Tom Shutt is a fun steady, yet quick read that is sure to have you laughing and intrigued at the same time. The story is about a girl gammer named, Siobhan. Murder Sidhe Wrote (Sidhe is pronounced 'She' if you were wondering. Gotta love Gaelic!) follows her throughout the events of attends an early Halloween costume party and is accidentally transformed into a fairy thanks to a rogue witch's powerful spell.
Filled with memorable characters, plot lines and world build, this story is a great addition to the Spellbound collection.

This review is for Bleeding Hearts by Ash Krafton
At least the first half I found to be pretty slow. The second half picks up and gets a bit more interesting. I had trouble connecting with Marek and it might have been the author trying to give you the mysterious romantic interest. Sophie is a young lady who has been holding her own and is successful, yet with Marek in the picture she now acts much different. This story has a good plot idea, there just felt to be that little something that was missing. This is not your typical vampire story for sure.
