Dark Muse #2

The Gatekeeper

Rate this book
Vi and Cal get married, and the wedding is attended by her uncle Bernie and his lady friend, Lee Marvin. That last souvenir of Vi and Lee`s turbulent relation, the portrait Lee made, has a terrifying life of its own, and Vi is trapped by its power.

The twins are born one night, Ruth and Howard. Howie is a joy, always bubbly. Ruth is something far different.

Lee sets her sights on Rabbi Jacobs, intent on regaining that scroll, her ancient heritage. His own quest puts him squarely in her territory, and it may cost him dearly. But if that's what he wants, Lee will lead him on.
After all, who can stop her?

I read all sorts of books and have started writing for real, that is, to write books that people will want to read.
But really, who reads these things, anyway?

The Gatekeeper is the sequel to the Dark Muse - and it probably should be read first. I think this one would otherwise be hard to get into.

The Dark Muse is a book that fuses fantasy with Jewish mysticism. Set in Mile End Canada, a religious Jewish neighborhood, a family tradition traces dangerous mystical powers through their line, toward difficult consequences. An ancient scroll is involved, as is kaballah, as is Jewish mysticism, and paintings that draw you into mystical experience, and a woman fearing that this terrible affliction is passed to her children - and its obvious that it has. What does that mean? Book three is on the market and I hear book four is coming out soon. Sequels are hard, but the story is intriguing. Bravo Phillip Mann. I do want to read on. Its a win for me.
