I adore these Isadora Moon books! They are so charming and fun. The illustrations are full of the most darling details that always make me smile. The stories are well-written, the characters all feel well-drawn.
This one isn't my favorite in the series... it felt a bit chaotic and far-fetched near the end... but it's still a sweet, fun story and I appreciated that Isadora's family used their magic to help others. Though not my favorite in the series, I did enjoyed the beach setting (which was a surprise as I assumed she’d be camping in a forest) and I imagine little ones who are mermaid fans will find much to enjoy here. As always, the fun and fantasy elements support a heartfelt "message" that isn't too didactic. This time, Isadora must grapple with her guilt when she loses one of her father's precious family heirlooms and she must summon the courage to tell him about it. I was a little uncomfortable with the fact that she doesn't tell her parents about her nighttime adventures, though.

Het tweede Isabella Maan boekje, en hij was net zo leuk als het eerste boek.
Dit keer gaat Isabella samen met haar familie kamperen! Wel, eigenlijk heeft ze dat al gedaan en is dit haar verhaal voor de klas (leuk om ook die klas eens te zien + de lerares).
Ik had al een vermoeden dat het geen normaal tripje zou worden, want kom op, het is Isabella en haar familie. Een vampier, een fee, 2 halfhalf kindjes. Je weet gewoon dat een kampeertrip heel speciaal gaat worden. En dat wordt het inderdaad. Het begint al met de tenten (mijn vraag nu is of die tenten hetzelfde werken als in Harry Potter, gegeven dat er een heel bed, en verschillende andere dingen in werden geschoven). Maar later wordt het nog specialer als Isabella een meermin en een meerminprinses tegenkomt.
Ik wist al meteen dat het een slecht idee was toen Isabella dat kammetje ging gebruiken. Gelukkig is Isabella een meid die ziet dat wat ze deed fout was en het probeert goed te maken.
Ik vond het leuk om eens wat andere bijzondere wezens te komen. Want ja, ik vraag me nog steeds af waarom niemand vreemd opkijkt van een fee, een vampier, en kinderen die een mengeling zijn. Ik gok dat er dus wel meer bijzondere wezens in de mensenwereld lopen en dat het normaal is. Terug op de meerminnen. Ik vond degene die Isabella eerst tegenkwam erg lief en leuk (ook al leek ze wel heel erg op Isabella's moeder, maar dat lag waarschijnlijk aan het feit dat ze er uit ziet als een reuze suikerspin. :P De prinses vond ik wat minder, maar gelukkig werd zij ook beter, ze had gewoon wat vriendschap nodig.
Dit keer was ik niet gefrustreerd met het konijn (nou ja, nog wel een beetje, maar niet veel) maar met de vader. Want wat was dat een ijdeltuit, je bent met je gezin gezellig aan het kamperen en je denkt alleen maar aan je uiterlijk en aan je kammetje. Je kunt bijna niet functioneren zonder dat kammetje. Sorry hoor, maar dan had je maar eens naar je vrouw moeten luisteren. Ze was toch heel duidelijk dat het een slecht idee was om het kammetje mee te nemen.
De illustraties zijn wederom weer leuk, en ook het fel roze/zwart kleurschema past perfect bij het boek.
Ik had al gezien dat er meer boeken van Isabella uit gaan komen, ik kan niet wachten!

Voi awwww ja ihq ja muut söpöilyt. Nyt löytyi ihan megasöpö englanninkielinen helppolukuinen sarja. Vampyyriisä ja keijuäiti, eläväksi loihdittu pehmolelu ja alakoululaisen höpöseikkailuja silmiä hivelevän koreassa paketissa.
Pinkkimustavalkoglitter-kuvitus sulatti oitis neljäsluokkalaisen wannabe-teinin sydämen ja mikä parasta " se ensimmäinen englanninkielinen" kirja osoittautui sanastoltaan sellaiseksi, että kirjan sai lukaistua yhdessä illassa. Siis englanniksi. Tuosta vain.
Sarjan kolme muuta osaa laitettiin heti varaukseen.

Alex and Violet got to see Harriet Muncaster at the Edinburgh Book Festival today, so we took the opportunity to buy the last couple Isadora Moon books for our collection. As always, the illustrations are charming and the story imaginative. This one involves a mermaid, a lost comb, and camping near the seaside. My only quibble would be that I wish the lesson about being honest right away had been stressed a tiny bit more, but we both still very much enjoyed it.

3.5 stars. This series is cute. This book was really outlandish. Isadora is going back to school and her teacher asks her about her summer so she talks about how she went camping. I love that her dad is NOT a camper and he tries to make it glamping for sure. He has a very special comb that he takes with them and Isadora uses it in her sand castle and it gets washed away so she and pink rabbit go on an adventure with a mermaid to find it and get it from the mermaid princess.

Isadora Moon goes camping is a great, great, great book to read. Isadora Moon is half vampire and half fairy. She gets to go camping with her family at the beach. Isadora Moon was building a sand castle and she borrowed her dad's great-great-great grandfather's comb for the top of the castle. It washes away and she needs to find a way to get it back and a mermaid helps her find the comb!

En para chicos/a. Yo lo acabo de terminar de leer ahora junio miércoles 25. Es de que Isadora Moon se va de excursión con sus padres de campamento. Entonces cuenta todas las aventuras que tiene Isadora Moon. Se los recomiendo para los chicos/a y si quieren los adultos lo pueden leer. Y para recordarles tengo 8 años. Y yo lo tengo en físico.

Una cosa que aprendí al leer esta historia es que, los libros de Isadora Moon se pueden leer casi en cualquier orden, a excepción del primero por que es cuando habla por primera vez con los niños humanos, pero no afecta en nada a la historia.
En esta ocasión Isadora se mete en problemas al tomar prestado algo valioso que no es suyo, sin pedir permiso y termina extraviado. No conforme con eso, vuelve a hacerlo pero ahora con otro personaje, y aunque todo se resuelve y las cosas regresan a sus dueños, eso no quita responsabilidad por lo que hizo.

La historia se desarrolla en dos lugares: la escuela y la playa. Y creo que hasta ahora, este libro es el que menos ilustraciones tiene.
A diferencia de los demás que he leído, este tiene mucho más texto pero igual está muy bueno.
✨ Personajes:
En esta historia se nos presenta un personaje totalmente nuevo en el mundo de Isadora -pero que no será recurrente- se trata de las sirenas, aquí encontramos a dos y cada una de ellas es especial y totalmente opuestas.
Tenemos a , quien resulta ser muy amigable y dispuesta a ayudar y a la sirena que será reina, quien por miedo a la soledad, no tiene una personalidad del todo agradable.
✨ Trama:
Termina el verano. Es el regreso a clases y tienes que contar lo que hiciste durante tus vacaciones. Isadora Moon no quiere, pues sus vacaciones fueron espantosas.
Resulta que pierde el peine de su padre y conoce a unas sirenas. ¿Horrible, verdad?
Lo que para Isadora es vergonzoso y malo, a todos les resulta sorprendente y les gustaría estar en sus zapatos. Sin embargo, lo más importante del libro nos lo enseña el Conde Moon.
Las mentiras no nos llevan a nada bueno.
Es mejor ser honesto, pasar un mal rato y después contar con el apoyo de las personas en vez de mentir, sentirse culpable y lidiar con el peso de la conciencia.
Amo este tipo de libros que aunque en apariencia solo sirvan como entretenimiento, nos van dejando mensajes importantes que a primera leída, pasan desapercibidos. ¿Y ustedes?

Isadora Moon isn't looking forward to sharing with her classmates how she and her family spent their vacation. After all, when you're the daughter of a fairy and vampire, there's no telling what can happen during a trip to the beach. By the time she finishes telling her tale, her classmates are very envious since she met a mermaid as well as Princess Delphina, future queen of the sea, and her merbear, while trying to recover her father's cherished bejeweled comb. Readers will get a kick at how Isadora's father spends more time prepping for the beach than he does enjoying his time there until he has a wake up call and realizes what really matters. Isadora is simply adorable even while experiencing some of the same things humans do but with a fairy and vampire twist. Her uniqueness can be demonstrated in the illustrations of her tent compared to her mother's and her father's tents.
