It will be nice to see this series end soon. Don't get me wrong....I do enjoy the series overall. But, these later volumes seem to be full of drama about "so-and-so must be cheating", just because they talk to someone of the opposite sex. That is just isn't as enjoyable as the main couple's romance once was.

Read so many mangas already in life, and irritates me so much that most of the series end always in the same way - happy ending with a wedding and a child, the main character is a mother and a housewife now, so happy with it (although through the series they may have different personality totally).
It would be good if manga authors stop with this predictability on a level it irritates so much it hurts. On the other hand it is a perfect summary how this society tradition stays the same over the years even with the global narrative changing.

MEGUMI BROKE UP WITH THAT CREEPY CHEATING BASTARD!!! BLESS!!!!!!!!

I wasn't expecting for the time jump to have happened but I think it makes sense. It's wild seeing everyone get older and become adults with careers. Aiko is pregnant! I'm not really shocked that she would be the first one to be pregnant and get married but it's insane to think of how much has changed for everyone. I really was hoping that Asumi and Takeshi would break up.... but alas I can't win apparently. I'm glad that Mei and Yamato finally talked, although it did get so repetitive with one of them getting jealous and feeling threatened and then having some type of make up scene. It's happened so many times and I already know that they aren't breaking up so I can't make myself feel super invested. I am grateful that after making up, they got better at communicating with each other and making it work even though they had to spend a lot of time without each other.

I love that Megumi is trying to make it work in Paris (without that creep!!) and I really feel bad that she's been struggling all this time. I hope she maybe reaches out to Rinn or that something comes up for her. I also want her to reunite with Kai and for them to get together. I hope they keep their promises. Also I love that she kept the charm thing he gave her and that in the last page, finding it seems like it will give her strength.

(Sidenote: but I really miss Kai. How is he? It's been 3 years so he must have graduated high school and maybe even college by now. What did he pick for a career? Is he still in touch with the other? Did he fall in love? And how's Ren doing? Does he still work at the gym? Is he making connections in real life and not just online? Is he in college? I miss a lot of the characters. I also wish we got to see Aiko and her life more than just the little snippets of information. Idk I just miss them)

Also I think it was really sweet that the author got pregnant when she was writing this volume and Aiko's pregnancy. It's insane that this series lasted around 8 years. So much can happen in that time. So much changes. I feel a bit bad that I read 8 years of work in around a week's time. I only have one more volume left. I honestly do feel really sad about reaching the end of everyone's stories. As frustrated as I have gotten at some of them, I really did end up getting invested in them, much to my surprise. It's going to be sad when it ends. Also, I'm nervous to see how everything wraps up, if everything can be resolved and if we will be able to say goodbye to everyone in one volume.

I don't rate mangas.

Typical shoujo manga series, it's pretty great. I don't have much to say about it : it's really cliché but still realistic. The only annoying thing about it is the fact that the mangaka gives waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many pages to minor characters to the point where it kinda feels as though the main character's "rival" is now THE main character of the story, replacing the actual one. I understand wanting to give depth to certain characters but not if it means erasing the main characters' "screen-time," even if their story doesn't evolve much. I started reading for them, not for the other girl. Anyways, I just hope I'll get to read more about the main couple and see them grow up instead of having to read about someone I don't care or like for that matters.

I really enjoyed Say I love You Volume 17. I didn't mind that a lot of time was skimmed over, because not every day is as full of impact as the last, so it makes since with the series wrapping up that Hazuki wants us to see the choices the characters made without filling every page with detail. I will miss Say I Love you when it finishes with the 18th installment, but there hasn't been a volume that has disappointed me yet. I am confident that Hazuki will give her fans an ending that will both move and satisfy us. I can't wait to read it!

Suki-Tte Ii Na Yo a.k.a Say I Love You

A light read filled with positive messages.

(The rating and review are conclusion for all of the volumes excluding the synopsis. Beware of spoiler.)

《 Plot 》
The pace of the story is good. Although there are 18 volumes all over, it doesn’t make you lose interest in it. The story starts by introducing Mei who's a bully victim. She doesn’t have any friends because she always distances herself from people. This is because she has been betrayed by her friends back in the middle school. Ever since then, she never trusts people anymore. However, she begins to change when she gets to know Yamato. Yamato is a popular guy that has many friends and is wayyy too friendly with girls. He starts to approach Mei when she kicked him because of some misunderstanding that happened. Yamato pursues Mei every day which eventually leads them being together. The story starts to develop from there and it’s being told from Mei’s POV.

《 Characters 》
Mei Tachibana, the heroine
When Mei starts falling in love with Yamato, she feels scared of showing everything to him. I can relate to that a lot because you don't know how things will be so it's scary. There are other moments that I can relate to but I won't tell you to avoid spoiler.

At one point, Mei begins to change herself by engaging more with people around her. That's what makes her strong and kind girl. She is very observant of people around her and tries to help them the best she can. I love her character development.

Yamato Kurosawa, the hero
Yamato is a typical cool who is popular for his kindness. Despite being a cool popular guy, he still has his own flaws. There are some issues that he struggles with but didn't let people see him in that way. I wouldn't really picture him as a really good guy. He has his flaw but he learns to change little by little.

《 Pros & Cons 》
Realistic & healthy relationship
↳ There are several couples born in this comic and each of them shows what relationship is likely to be in real life especially Mei’s relationship. If you have been in a relationship, several situations that happened will make you go “Omg, I went through that too!”. On top of that, most of them are in a healthy relationship making it enjoyable to read.

Positive messages
↳ It touches the issue of bully and friendship. Although Mei has been bullied, she doesn’t retaliate at those who had betrayed her back then. It also shows that life is more wonderful with loyal companions being by your side.

The art drawn
↳ It’s not that the art are bad or anything. It’s just not really my cup of tea. I noticed that the art was changing slightly as the volume continues on. It got better in my opinion.

《 Extras 》
My favourite manga! I keep going back to this whenever I feel like reading something light and fun. This is my first manga that I read when I first started to read comic. I was so happy when I found out this comic had completed in English version. These are several quotes that I love from this story.
“Nothing makes a girlfriend more insecure than a boyfriend who's kind to everyone.”
“No matter how beautiful you are, when you're dating someone, all of your flaws come out.”
“If you want to move forward, sometimes, you can't keep doing things the way you've always done them. That peace of mind ruins you and hurts people.”
“You can get stronger by loving others and letting them love you.”

⚝ Who should read? ⚝
❥ Enjoy high school story.
❥ Love friendship theme story.
❥ Can tolerate typical “famous guy” falls for “unpopular girl”.

Now firmly settled into adult / college life more romantic drama ensues. I enjoyed how that transition from high school to college has changed their relationships and that Hazuki is portraying the difficulties in longer-distance relationships as well as relationships that are recently farther distance from each other. Although Yamato's deal is pretty shitty and stupidly unaware on his end.
There is a big emphasis on how these are new emotions and situations and that one might act differently or not know how to handle it. That's a big part of that time period of life and I'm glad Hazuki is tackling it. There's also a big focus on having to need to keep in contact but I'll mention that later. Then they all grow up past college and it's so great to see them! I've really grown to like these characters so seeing them go into young adulthood and see each other is so great. And Hazuki again deftly weaves in a message in the importance of trying to keep in contact.
I'm mixed on Megumi's story here. I really enjoy her struggling as it allows Hazuki to show someone reeling with being unable to achieve their lifelong dream. My real issue is with her relationship with Angelo. On one hand I'm glad she is not with that guy who is WAY older than her anymore. The reason being that she has been struggling and her mood has changed is an understandable thing for her and an understandable reason a relationship would go sour. But the guy is way older than her and part of his love was seemingly to help this young girl just out of high school. That's extremely creepy and reads very close to grooming or at least a power dynamic rife with imbalances and that's not tackled here. Instead Megumi mentions how at that time in her life she couldn't calm down and the guy was sort of right. I’m cool with a future self reminiscing and adding to the scene. But again… they’re ignoring the massive elephant in the room with her relationship with him. And once they transition to her later in life she still doesn't see or mention that.

One of my favorite volumes!!

It’s so fun seeing the gang all grown up 🥰♥️🥰♥️🥰

Mei cut her hair again and although she looked like a sunshine, standing in a field of sunflowers with a beach hat beauty with long hair— it was so nostalgic to see her with short hair again!! Ahh!!

Megumi easily became one of my favorite characters after seeing her character development arc. She’s probably my favorite character because of just how much she’s went through and just how much strength she has. Her and Aiko (SHES PREGNANT YES BABY YES) are such “the doors right there if you want to leave people” I love it!!

Are we not going to talk about how Nagi kind of looks like Mei 😳😳 like no one else finds that a lil weird? No just me? 😭

Also I saw that tease in the last chapter with Megumi and the little Land keychain that she’s kept all these years. I KNEW there would be some Megumi x Kai!! Yes as they should!!

Mei and Yamato’s struggles have come to an end and as they grow older it seems Yamato seems to be thinking about how to further their relationship. Imagine tiny Mei’s and Yamato’s 🥺

Also!! I forgot to mention this before but the art has improved so much!! Kanae Hazuki I see you!!

really loved reading it, finally; had bought all the original manga right after they released in Japan but it took me now until 2025 to sit to finish reading them!

I'm very happy to see this beautiful ending to this series but I'm getting ticked off by how it is portrayed that every relationship must end in marriage and with a kid on the way.

in this manga, given how they had Megu go to France and instead of being successful there right away, they showed the truth about how difficult that is. and had her come back to Japan to restart her life again (my words).

that was a very refreshing take.

and even the late marriage of Yamato's older brother. sorry if this is from the next volume, i forget; read the last two volumes last night before going to bed

so why stick with marriage and kids to mean a successful marriage?.. why couldn't that have been more different..?

Yamato did it! He told Natsuki no. Thank god!!!
And Asami and Nakanishi stayed together.
Then we jump 3 YEARS!!!! Wtf. I don’t like how rushed this college arc is!!!!
But I do like seeing these characters older and thriving… Graduating college, getting jobs, cutting all their hair off… pregnancy and marriage! So much has happened! Now, Megumi- GO HOME!!!! And find Kai… if he’s even single after 3 years LOL

AHHHHHHHH AIKO PREGNANT!!!!! I was wondering if any of them would have kids or if the story would stop mid or near the end of college, but it seems like that wasn’t the case I hope we get to see her potential wedding and baby doing all kinds of silly things cause I know Mei and Asami would love that baby so much. Dont hate Megumi with a burning passion anymore either so im curious to see how her story is going to end?

Almost to the end! I really liked this volume. I love how the characters, instead of extending the drama, seek to communicate and have real reactions to situations. I really like these characters and it seems like forever ago that they were in high school and I didn't like Megumi. Can't wait to see where their life leads them.

Yamato realizes he effed up and apologizes to Mei. Thank god he learns his lesson, the miscommunication between them was driving me nuts. Meanwhile, Megumi dumps her stupid boyfriend but still struggles with finding modeling gigs while Rin is booking nonstop. I feel for Megumi, she is determined AF. And I'm so happy for Aiko!!!!

I was kind of hoping Asami and Takeshi would break up and she'd get together with the guy from her vocational school, if only to break from the standard shoujo formula, but I'm not surprised things went the way they did

It feels nice seeing these characters and how much they've grown and where they are now in life after this whole series and now that it is ending. As usually, it is bittersweet, but the start of adulthood is always bitter and sweet, and so is the beginning of another chapter of your life.

Ups ahora que son adultos deben ver que las pequeñas decisiones que toman los afectan, ademas de que muestra que no es facil mantener una relacion del colegio al mundo adulto.
