Simples assim.

Yeap.

This was a good book. Nothing big in the story. There is a lot of cultural references so most of the time I had no idea where they where when things were going on, but that happens sometimes. This book was written in another language (Portagul) so the translation was done. I think it was pretty good but maybe missed something in the transition.

The characters were likable, but needy in some places. It could just be me. But all together not a bad read.
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy for my honest review.

Falling for Her is a cute office romance. It takes place in Brazil, which for me, is a unique setting, and I really enjoyed that. The characters were interesting, and the story was different. I really enjoyed Mariana, and the chemistry between her and Carlos was fabulous.

I did have some trouble with the writing. It felt very stiff, and jumpy. It became hard to follow as I was continuously pulled out of the story because of the awkward translation from the original Portuguese. I really wanted to love this.

Pensa num cara babaca. Pensou?

Aliás, a questão é pouco trabalhada no livro.

E quem sabe o Cadu não te irrite tanto quanto me irritou?

Like every A.C. Meyer book, reading Falling for Her flowed in a way, with each page a different sigh. The author knew how to work very well all the chapters, with the point of view alternate between the characters. But let's talk about my impressions of the plot and narrative.

The book is in the first person (which I like a lot) and tells the story of these two people so different and so similar at the same time. On the one hand we have Mariana, secretary, coming from a humble family who lives in the north of Rio de Janeiro and who has an incredible best friend, Laís. On the other side we have Carlos Eduardo, rich, director of a magazine of reputation, accustomed to leave with models and lives in the south zone of the city.

Mari has worked as secretary to Cadu for three years, and has a crush on him, which he obviously does not know. Cadu never noticed his secretary, who does not follow the stereotypes imposed by society, it contains curves, many of them and from nowhere he seems to notice them.

"I have no idea what's happening to me, but it's as if some sort of magnet is pulling me towards her."

One night, the two best friends decide to go out and have fun in a bar in the south of the city and at night the one she least expected to see materializes behind her body, pulling her into a dance that sincerely left me with hot cheeks and in expectation. Days later, Cadu and Mari are getting closer and closer, and they end up in a relationship that is no longer just a boss / employee, but in a relationship where there are kisses / romance. Only, his evil brother Zeca with his wife Lucinha, planting evil seeds in Cadu's head, implying that Mari can come to take advantage of the situation and he ends the whole bond with her. But imagine... Mari and Laís go to a party invited by Rodrigo, best friend of Cadu and take you from Lala at the moment, and Cadu sees you talking to another guy and pyre, does not resist the sweeping passion that screams in his chest and do what? Make your bets.

"It's almost like he's assaulting my mouth with his tongue!"

Mari always tries to be the funniest girl ever, spontaneous and sure of herself, no matter how many people around her at work treat her as if she did not fit into that same world, just because she does not have the "ideal body" "the one imposed by society, of which woman has to have her body too thin to be able to stamp the cover of a magazine, or even to get to the "level" of ever dating someone like Carlos Eduardo, the magazine's director. Mari hides all bullying that suffers for herself, every day suffers from vicious comments and indifferent looks. If you have been through it or pass by, do not shut up. Never! You're perfect the way you are!

Everything seems to be in its proper place. The couple could not be happier. They are with whom they love, practically living together, one always taking care of the other. But you can imagine right? Some people are not so happy with this relationship, however much anyone knows. Will these two be able to overcome all barriers, especially those of prejudice and envy or will they walk on opposite sides?

Falling for Her brings learning that should never be forgotten: knowing forgiveness and second chances are deserved when you really love. In addition to teaching us that no matter what size you wear, what really matters is your inner beauty, your well being and independent of anything, being happy with yourself. I hope you fall in love with this book as I fell in love. 💕

"I promisse to love you every day and every night, always, and never let you out of my sight again."

When I discovered that Falling For Her was a romance settled in an office, the only thing I thought of was that I should read, and so I had the opportunity to know the characters who became my best friends, for whom I cheered vibrated, and fell in love.

For years Cadu and Mari have worked together. She's his secretary, a very professional one. Cadu is the CEO of a fashion magazine company. But trust me when I say that it is not a romance like the others, as A. C. Meyer's exquisite writing makes it different and unique.

Quote: "Because I know he's the kind of guy who takes your breath away in the blink of an eye."

Mari has a crush on Cadu, however, he has never looked at her beyond the professional relationship. And in an unexpected way, he noticed her and the interaction between them become more explicit and meaningful. Mari knows that a relationship between them is impossible, but that does not stop her from surrendering to him.

It is not only the relationship boss and employee, there is also his rich family and their expectations, the reality of Mari not having the same social status as him and also the self image she has. As you can follow their point of view, because both characters narrate the book, you will discover how they will be able to make their feelings greater than the differences.

Quote: "I promise to make you my home and to make myself your home, so that we can never be apart again."

Falling For Her is a cute reading, with a romantic comedy plot that gives us an exciting reading that is impossible to put down until we reach the last page.

Cadu and Mari - an emotional office romance

FALLING FOR HER was a thoroughly enjoyable story about an office romance, one that was very unexpected by both Mariana "Mari" Costa and Carlos Eduardo "Cadu". Mari has jad a crush on Cadu for three years, the entire time she's been working for him, but he has only just begun to notice her recently, and when it happened the attraction and chemistry is instantaneous and scorching.

Told from dual POVs, Mari and Cadu's story is an emotional rollercoaster. There is plenty to laugh about, lots to feel sad about and more to even feel angry and frustrated over. Mari is such a sweet lovable girl who enjoys life to the fullest, allows music to take her mind away, but just doesn't seem to fit in at her work place. Cadu is simply swoonworthy, a man establihing himself in the fashion magazine world. Their relationship is one dreams are made of - until Cadu's brother Zeca steps in, he's such a nasty piece of work.

A wonderful book to read, with characters that are simply adorable. Lais and rodrigo are the greatest of best friends, always there with a friendly ear and advice. The story plotline flows beautifully throughout, and her vivid descriptions were an asset. Her description of Cadu's fmaily home made me feel as though I was there.

I will definitely read more from this author.

I am not sure where all these 5 and 4 star reviews came from, maybe it was from the original story that was written in Portuguese. But who ever translated the book into English should not use google translate. It was bad. so 2 stars for the book cause the story line was interesting. But the whole book as a whole was very hard to follow along. Most of the time the verbiage used is that of a tween girl and not that of someone who was a CEO of a Top magazine company. Not to mention do we need details of what they wore every day? Down to details?
EX:
“When I leave the office it’s almost ten o’clock. I’m exhausted, my hair tied up in a messy bun. The white shirt and the dark pants I was wearing were pretty wrinkled.”

“I sing along as I dress in a black pencil skirt that does wonders for my curves and a white silk shirt with short sleeves.”

Just over all the book needs a very good English speaking editor to make sure the mistakes on the book are caught. I am not talking things like too, two or to. I mean things that make or break a book. " i am going to stick to you like gum." Huh? Who says that? It's I am going to stick to you like glue. Plus when do coworkers say to their bosses that someone is a "hottie".

I recommend reading the book in Portuguese because the English version não é bom!!! (Not good)

A sweet, funny, sometimes heart-rending story

I love the opportunity to read stories set in unusual places so the Rio de Janeiro setting was a plus for me. Add in an office romance romance (one of my favorite tropes) and the blurb had me sold.

I loved Mari and Cadu together, though they both had trust issues to work through that made me want to smack them a bit at times (especially Cadu!). My heart was breaking for both of them at different times and I was really pulling for them to get their acts together. Luckily, there were some great secondary characters in best friends Lais and Rodrigo to help out.

As a native English speaker, the story's language flow was little odd for me at times (I'm assuming this is a result of being translated into English as the author is actually from Brazil). While it did serve as a nice reminder of the setting, I found it jarring in the beginning but once I adjusted, the story really sucked me in.

This was a slow burn story, with a nice build-up, both in the relationship between Mari and Cadu and the overall story arc. My first book by this author, with a sweet, funny, sometimes heart-rending story, it won't be my last. 4 stars

I really enjoyed Falling for her it would be the first book I've read by A.C. Meyer and it wont be my last with how the story and characters drew me in the only complaint I really have is the texts were hard to read but other then that amazing story that kept me on my toes all throughout the story . I loved the relationship between Mari and Cadu they have worked well together for years until one moment changes things . The suspense aspect and being shocked when something I didn't see coming happened made me like the story even more . There was some frustrating parts that made me shake my head but it didn't take away how I felt for the characters .

I really enjoyed this story by A.C. Meyer. From what I can see this may be the first English translated book of hers and I found it to be well done with the story from both the perspective of Mari and Cadu.

These two have worked together (or Mari worked for Cadu) for years and have always known each other is Mariana and Carlos Eduardo. Very professional and circumspect relationship. When Cadu suddenly sees her in a different light, his life changes and in return so does Mari's. However nothing is perfect. They come from two very different worlds and the dis-trust that comes from those worlds and the people in them threaten to split them apart permanently.

The story was lovely and had elements of suspense, who done it. My only issue with the kindle edition is trying to read the texts and emails. Having to stop to blow it up so I could read them was just a little bit of a pain (once I figured out how to lol). Otherwise a great story!

Falling for Her was a story that I enjoyed quite a bit, especially since it was set in culture than any other romance book that I've read, so that gave it originality. Mari is the assistant to Cadu, at a fashion magazine. They have worked together for years, until fate steps in and changes their relationship to something more. But not everyone is happy about them being together, and major plotting is afoot, so will Mari & Cadu be strong enough to withstand the storm? I really loved Mari & her big heart, however, Cadu didn't quite do it for me, as he was very led by his emotions, and that is only MY OPINION. But the cast of secondaries, which made up their best friends, added in more depth & humor! A.C. Meyer's talented writing style kept me turning the pages, while the added in twists, well, they gave me the f-bomb factor that I love in my books. I will continue to read this author, and HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Falling for Her is a great office romance, this one between boss and employee, A.C. Meyer did an amazing job with this book. This story will make fall in love, get angry, and happy; it got me hooked from page one to the end of the storyline.

It is told in a two-part POV between CEO, Carlos Eduardo Moraes aka "Cadu" and Mariana Mari Costa. I thought it was hilarious how Cadu notices his feelings for Mari, while Mari has always had the biggest crush on him from the first day she meets Cadu. I loved the relationship they had, the chemistry was powerful and hot. His brother Zeca tries to come between then many times which made me angry. I loved how Lais her best friend and Mari were always there for each other.

This is the first book I have read from A.C Meyer, it won't be the last. I definitely hope there is more to come.

This is the story of Cadu and Mari. Mari has had a crush on her boss, Carlos, ever since she started working for him three years ago. She has worked hard to keep her work life professional, though, and hasn’t let it show. Then Carlos, or Cadu as he is known to his friends, runs into her out at a club. He is captivated, and once he sees his assistant a different light he can’t seem to stop thinking of her. Before he knows it, he is asking her to be his girlfriend, something that he never does. Mari is different than the usual girls he dates, though, and he wants to see where this goes. It is not an easy road for them, though. They have to deal with many unexpected obstacles, like family and society issues. Will they last?

I would give this book 3.5 stars.

This is the first time I have read any of this authors’ work, and I will certainly be reading more in the future. Mari loves her job and has secretly been in love with her boss Cadu forever. When they meet in a club, their work ethics are forgotten. This is a sweet and enjoyable read, which is emotional, sad, humorous, frustrating, suspenseful, and with a tad angst. This is well written and flows seamlessly, and I recommend this authors’ work for all readers.

This was such a romantic story. I swooned, I sighed, I oohed and ahhhed. AC wrote a beautifully told love story. Cuda and Mari work together, for a few years they have been only professional, one look and that all goes out the door. I loved reading this. We get a little bit of everything, family drama, rich man, poor girl, a man that knows what he wants, and a woman who has a backbone.

Falling For Her was an immensely sweet read with a few hills to climb. This story is almost too sweet. From the first realization of lust to the ending it made me feel like I was floating in happiness. Mari has the job she loves, a great best friend, and a boss she's secretly in love with. One small accident leads her down a road of a lot of happiness with a slight black cloud. Mari comes off as a super confident woman, yet she's got some insecurities and hang ups. Cadu comes across as a sinfully sweet man who isn't sure exactly where he wants to be. After a chance encounter at a club their professional relationship goes out the door.

I really liked this story, even with the few over the top cheesy moments. Cadu and Mari both grow as individuals and then as a couple and that was refreshing to see. This is definitely a pick me up read and something you need when feeling down. I love the addition to the texts and emails in this story, it added extra appeal. If you need a sugary sweet read, pick Falling For Her up. You won't regret it.

Quote: "Minha mente grita: tranquem a porta e joguem a chave fora! Não vou soltá-lo nunca mais."
Cadu e Mari é uma leitura fofa, com enredo de comédia romântica que nos proporciona uma leitura envolvente impossível de larga até chegar á última página.

Excerpt:
You know those kisses you see in movies? The ones that capture your attention completely when you see them? The type of kiss that makes your legs shake and leaves you breathless? Never mind those! This one was a million times better. Cadu showed me his sweet and seductive side last week, but this? He’s like a hurricane. I have never been kissed like this. Ever. He pulls me to him, grabs my hair and kisses me. I don’t even know if I can call it a kiss. It’s almost like he’s assaulting my mouth with his tongue! I forget everything around me, I don’t know where I am, who I am, I don’t know anything anymore. All I can do is feel his hot body against mine, feel my legs shaking, and his lips that taste better than hot fudge.
It’s such a deep, sexy, and wonderful kiss that he uses his free arm to hold my waist and nearly lifts me off the ground. Still holding me, he pushes me toward a wall, never stopping the kiss. When we can move no farther, he presses his body against mine.
But then I remember. I remember it all: all the tears I cried on Monday, all the pain he put me through when he got my hopes up, just so he could kill every last one of them later. I remember the sorrow and despair I felt throughout the week. This is when the rebellious Mari comes to life again. I bite his lower lip hard and he lets go of me, groaning loudly.
“Ouch, Mari! What was that for?” he asks, taking a hand to his mouth and cleaning some of the blood that starts oozing from it. He had it coming!
“I told you to let go of me, jackass,” I say, feeling brave.
“Jackass? You kissed me back!” he complains, looking confused. Cute!
“And you said you didn’t want anything to do with me. What the hell are you thinking? When we’re in the office I owe you respect and you call the shots. But out here, you don’t. I don’t owe you anything, and nothing gives you the right to grab me like you did. Or to stop me from kissing anyone I feel like.” As I talk, I point a finger at him, poking his chest.
“Kissing? Were you really going to kiss that moron?” he asks, annoyed.
“That’s up to me to decide, don’t you think?” I start walking away. Then I turn around and hit him one last time. “At least he knows what he wants.”
Touché!
I turn to the exit and I leave, not even bothering to say goodbye to Lais.
