I want to believe that the wrong version of this book was uploaded for purchase. This is not my first Imani King 'Prince' Series read. There were rookie mistakes such as: renaming the heroine ... Addison goes from Mrs. Cole to Mrs. Benning to Mrs. Benniger back to Mrs. Benning and this all takes place within the prologue. Add in the first to third person shifts within the same paragraph and these mistakes seem odd for an IK book.
I liked the cover of the book and the story line. I felt the book needed to be longer because the heroine quickly fell in love with the hero within two weeks and wanted him to be in love with her just as quickly. Plus, they had too amazing to believe conversational 4-year old twins. This book had potential for a higher rating, it just needed some fine-tuning.
I have to say the story could have done with some serious editing. Not the usual editing issues. This one was more the flipping between POV first, third all in the same sentence and paragraph. This ticked me off and almost had me not finishing the book. I don't like not finishing a read. There were gaps in explainations. But its a read that gave me enought to get by on.
This was a memorable modern-day fairy tale with an enchanting second chances theme but Imani King's errors were a bit overwhelming and took away from her take on the story and well as my rating.
Maybe I got a bad copy, but I still enjoyed it especially the marriage to a commoner (teacher, Addi to an arrogant royal, Wolf in a somewhat marriage of convenience style).
3.47 royal stars ***.47
This was an ARC copy given by author, Imani King for an honest review.
I struggled with the rating.. This book was in terrible need of editing. Throughout the read the writing would flip to 3rd person, which made me want to put the book down several times. But since I'm no quitter, I stuck with it. It wasn't the worse I've read however, there are lots of grammatical errors... And what the heck...no epilogue??? Spoiler alert.. ..The h, Addison, a small town African American girl and her husband aren't able to conceive children relating to an infertility issue on his part. They go to a world renown fertility clinic and the h is successful in becoming pregnant. Unfortunately upon finding she's pregnant her husband no longer can fathom raising someone else's child. He gives her an ultimatum to terminate the pregnancy or he's out. She decides on the pregnancy. There's a Prince, the H from another country. He and his wife were having issues conceiving because of a medical condition of hers and because he needed an heir for his throne they decided on a fertility clinic. After several attempts she never became pregnant and later succumbed to her illness. Fast forward several years. The clinic gets word from the Prince to dispose of his samples as he no longer had the need since his wife had passed. The clinic discovers a huge mixup on their part and realized his semen was given to someone else. Once the Prince was notified of this atrocity, he immediately springs in to action to take the now 4 year old child from it's mother but learns he has twins. The h comes up with a plan that he will have to marry her since she won't give her children to him. She really has love at first sight however he doesn't want to open his heart to love after the loss of his wife. He quickly realizes he does love her but refuses to tell and show her and he also believes she can't love him. After an abduction, arrest, family scandal and pregnancy, the book kind of just ends. I know right.. nope...there is not an epilogue. Not sure if it's a dry cliffhanger or just plain ole the ending. As mentioned before I couldn't tell since the book was so poorly edited. Hope this helps.
This my first story in the Princes Series. I really enjoyed the story. It was fast moving and gentle read. I thought the amount of kidnapping attempts were over the top and I wished that there had been a lot more dialogue between the couple. However, I still enjoyed it. Worth a read.
This could have been an awesome story but the editing, or lack thereof, really took away from it. The story drew me in from the beginning but each time I tried to fully delve into the emotion of the character I was doused with a grammar cold shower. How many times did the character switch from speaking in 1st person to 3rd mid sentence? Who does that to a reader?!?
Can't believe that I actually finished this book. It was mediocre at best. The characters were lame. I just never believed that there was any true chemistry between the main characters. I found it utterly boring.
The story line was very good, sometimes hard to understand though. The way the words were worded kind of through me off some. There was also a lot of spelling typos, and a lot of use of third person. For instance it would say Addison is doing something, and when the direction changes, she didn't use my, she used her or she.
Addison Mills Benning wanted her children more than anything. That is why when her then husband demanded she abort her babies because his pride would not let him be a father to her artificially inseminated babies, she chose the babies instead of him. That is also why she chose to marry Prince Wolfgang Anders of Dreisburg to keep him from taking the children once the insemination mistake was revealed that her twins were his only heirs. She knew she could not win a court battle with the rich prince. Little did she know that she and her children were walking into a whole new can of worms in Dreisburg.
Wolf did not expect to fall for the American beauty. He almost failed to understand that life goes on after the death of his first wife Ysabelle. He swore that he would never love again after her death and that this marriage to Addi was that of convenience for the sake of the twins Oliver and Melody. Addi cracked that harden veneer that made Wolf want to live again. If was not until he thought he lost her that he opened up to her that he loved her. Addi did not expect to fall for Wolf either, but once her nightmare was over and all threats resolved, the couple was able to live their HEA in honest.
Imani wrote an interesting story about a prince who loved his first wife very much but failed to realize he did not die with her and that life goes on. This story was also a testament to what good mothers will do to protect their children and stay in their life to make sure they are raised properly. I enjoyed reading this story that was well plotted with some mystery and drama to boot.
The story was good however the writing and editing was horrible. The author did not know whether it should have been written in first person or from a narrative perspective. It was horrible trying to decipher which during the book. It would have been ok if it was in one chapter but it was the entire book. This is a 2.5 star at best.
Love this rags to riches story. Addison is a great mother and an optimistic character. Wolf has hardened his heart against love, seemed too gullible in regards to his brother & very reserved. Very captivating story from beginning to end, I didn’t even want it end. Erik got off too good in my opinion but the rest of the royal family wasn’t as snobbish as I was expecting, lol.
This was a really nice rags to riches fairytale. A mix up at a fertility clinic sees Addison pregnant by Wolf. Not what either of them expects, but because he needs an heir a marriage of convenience ensues. Their journey to the realization of their true feelings is a fairytale romance.
Wow this book was so good ,but I had to give it four stars because there was a lot of errors and I was not happy about it. I was so looking forward to seeing Ms. King having a longer book , but there was a lot of errors. It would have been five it didn't have the errors
There were so many editing errors in this book. The interchange between first and third person in the same sentence repeatedly was unbelievable!!! It seems this story was rushed to print with no respect for the reading audience. What's up with chapter 24????
I gave this 4 stars cause it had a good plot. The grammar was atrocious at times but not enough for me to put the book down because I liked the story that much. I am a planning to read the other other books in this series.
I truly enjoyed this book, but I would have like to see how Wolf came to the conclusion of stop pretending he did not wish to sleep with Addi. One moment he refused to give into his desire and the next he can't keep his hands off her. That was only a little lapse, because at the time it was in Addi point of view. Also regarding the point of view, sometimes there is a little error of switching to first to third point of view. Nothing too obvious. It was a modern Cinderella and I would have liked to see her take more of a princess role. I read somewhere in the comments that Addi's name is being switch around but I did not see anywhere that it is. Addison Bennings is her 1st martial name; Addison Mills is her birth name which he returned to after her 1st marriage ended and lastly Addi is the name she prefer to be called. But I do wish the book was a bit longer, I wanted more of them. It was worth the money.
Beautiful cover, wonderful story idea; however the editing was so bad that it actually made the reading of this story anything but a pleasure. Considering that this isn't Ms. King's first book I know that it is not her talent but the editing that made this book merely a two star book. I also felt that the book was rushed and that the ending felt like a way out not a true ending. I think that a rewrite along with a strong editing session would benefit this book immensely.
I just realized that Addison is supposed to be black! LOL!! I just thought they didn't like her because she was American. Anyway...I really enjoyed the book. The arrogance of Prince Wolf was a little unsettling and irritating but he finally came around. Good romance with some intrigue, some laughs and some tears. Really like this series!
I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
It made no sense at the beginning you can't tell who they're really talk about what she's black or white or whatever all that I know is that a prince come in and take her children but they decide to get married in order for her to save her children. This book is so stupid even though I got a for free I would never read from this Arthur again thank you
This story would have benefitted from a serious editor, way more time, and a lot more plot. Every thing felt incredibly rushed and insincere. Also, the last chapter seems to be missing in my copy.
Of course, I am a big Imani King fan. So reading about her latest Prince Charming, I had no doubt in my mind that I wouldn't fall in love with the characters!!! There was adventure, misunderstandings, and if course... love!!! As always, Ms. Imani delivers an amazing love story that draws you into every word!!! AWESOME JOB IMANI!!! I CANNOT WAIT TO READ THE NEXT CHAPTER TO THE SERIES
