A really great read. I was about fifteen when I first read it, a mix of eastern philosophy and martial arts, good against evil and rage to riches. Its cool; great action scenes and meaningful. Perhaps now I've grown up, its a bit boy's own. Like the quotes by Lao Tsu at the beginnings of chapters. Well paced story, puts you right there. The writer has a really authorative voice.

What's not to like? Boy gets raised to become an awesome kung fu warrior and prepares for the ultimate showdown: Against his evil father!

Yes, it has a simple plot. But it has kung fu! Mindless yet quite entertaining, it's light reading and pure escapism.
