This book was not an easy read for me personally.Transpersons are an integral part of our society, But they never get equal recognition . Revathi is one such trans person and this is her autobiographical account. Born as Duraisamy in a small village near namakkal Revathy had a tough phase in understanding the changes she was going through. She was ridiculed , mocked for being herself trapped inside the body of a man which forces her to flee home. She finds solace in a community of transpersons. The chapters that follow depict in detail how the community has a support system in place and the customs involved in it to look after one another so they can make it through their daily life. Two chapters talked in detail about the suffering Revathy goes thru after a gender reassigning surgery sending shivers down the spine . The author's tough efforts for acceptance with her family , her decision to enter into a relationship as well as walk out of it , her perseverance to fight against all odds to make the voices of the marginalized communities give hope to the reader although the last chapter ends in a sad note

அரசாங்கம் திருநங்கைகளுக்காக எவ்வளவோ திட்டங்களை இப்போது அறிவித்த வண்ணம் உள்ளது. தனியாக நலவாரியம் அமைக்கப்பட்டு உள்ளது. ஆனால் இவை அனைத்தும் இப்போது சில வருடங்களாகத்தான்.
எனினும் எல்லா திருநங்கைகளின் கதையும் ஒன்றாகவேதான் இருக்கிறது. ஆணாகப் பிறந்திருப்பார்கள். பதின் பருவத்தில் பெண் உணர்வுகள் தலை தூக்கி இருக்கும். வீட்டில் சொல்ல பயப்படுவார்கள். பின்பு தானாக வீட்டுக்குத் தெரியும்.
அடித்து உதைப்பார்கள். வீட்டை விட்டு ஓடி மற்ற திருநங்கைகளுடன் இணைந்து வறுமையில் வீழ்வார்கள். யாரும் வேலை தருவதில்லை. பாலியல் தொழில்தான் உயிர்வாழ ஒரே வழி என்ற நிலைமை வரும்.
அங்கும் Police Rowdy Local தாதா என விரட்ட யாரோ ஒருவனின் fake sympathyயை காதல் என நினைத்து ஏமாறுவார்கள். அவன் பணத்தைப் பிடுங்கிக் கொண்டு பிளேடால் கிழித்துத் துரத்துவான். இறுதியில் அவர்கள் தற்கொலை செய்து கொள்வார்கள்.
இந்த கண்ணீர் கதை இன்னுமே மாறவில்லை. அதை ரேவதி அவர்களின் மொழியிலேயே கேட்டபோது விரக்திதான் எஞ்சுகிறது.
"எனக்கு ஆபரேஷன் செய்த வலியை விட பொதுமக்கள் எங்களைப் பார்க்கும் விதம் பெருவலியாக இருந்தது" என்ற போது நமக்கும் வலிக்கிறது.
முதலில் பெற்றோர் ஏற்றுக்கொள்ள வேண்டும். Male female or trans யாராயினும் family is their last haven. அங்கு மாற வேண்டும். பின்புதான் மற்றோர்..
இந்த எளிய கோரிக்கையைத்தான் நம் முன் எடுத்து வைக்கிறது வெள்ளை மொழி.
