On February 16,1832 the Prophet Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon received a vision at Hiram, Ohio and is referred to as The Vision. It deals with such subjects as the Three Degrees of Glory as mentioned in I Corinthians 15:40-41, the resurrection of the dead, and the war in Heaven.
Commentary from Prophets and Apostles along with quotations from leaders of the Catholic and Protestant churches and historians are included.
All combine to give great insight into what awaits mankind when we leave this mortal existence.

My first reading of this book was more than 50 years ago, and, frankly, I did not comprehend its depth. For example, it contains the King Follett discourse in full, 14 different Bible translations of I Corinthians 15:29 which is the single Bible verse mentioning baptism for the dead, and an account of the "Appearances of the Signers of the Declaration of Independence and Presidents of the United States in the St. George Temple" by Wilford Woodruff. There is a 32 page review (originally presented as four radio lectures by Nephi L. Morris) of Catholic and Protestant teachings and questions about what may be expected for deceased persons and our possible service for them including some serious seeking by religious scholars "who are only kept from the truth because they know not where to find it." Many quotations from authorities of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (many from Joseph Smith, Brigham Young, and the Pratt brothers, etc.) are most profound although rarely seen. It has been a most impressive and inspiring experience to read this book again with a lifetime of further related background to help in appreciating it. It is a ready source for some striking quotations about very beautiful, stirring, and uplifting truths.

This book was actually first published in 1939. It has D&C section 76, the King Follett sermon, and many other talks (and the circumstances under which they were given) regarding what happens after death.

The power of the book reaches me while the knowledge contained within eludes.

This book is a compilation of sermons and discourses about the degrees of glory and the plan of salvation dealing with the eternal world. Most of the of the sermons are from early church brethren.
