A book where Haitani reminisces on the different influences that shaped his life and writing "わたしの出会った子どもたち" is one of those feel good books where, in the end, hope wins (even if we go through some dark moments). The problem is that, even if Haitani is trying to offer light on how everyone has to be listened to, and how everyone has good qualities and dreams, etc., it also can feel like all those people that he is talking about are there to further his development/story. I will find some of Haitani's books and then it will be easier to better understand this memoir (Haitani being famous for his children books).
The best: its positivism and hope
The worst: it can feel like exploitation, Haitani's use of children's writings and people he met stories
