I almost couldn't concentrate because of the excitement....almost :)
---all sounds off - oke guys *tjik tjik* *go go* - finally alone and *sigh* let the game begin---

Only thing I knew that it's taboo..but how will it be... from this author's hand you can expect the most extreme....
After a few pages I tried to imagine what in the hell could happen... but I have no writers brain.....that's why I'm at the other end of the process....I read and let me surprise with the unexpected.....

Trey - Jake - Weldon

What started as a read where you think "ahhh okay....yeah... hmmmm .. heheh" ended as a *Jesus fucking Christ - fuck - fuck - sick - noooooohh* I did not just read that...

Flash one - Trey meets Jake at a party. Beautiful and bruised Jake has an od at that party and Trey is his savior.
Flash two - When Jake is back home you can feel the tension building, he has a *sick* father and a lovely younger brother. They have visitors.....
Flash three - Jake wakes up and not in his bed..... and he can't move.... Here is where I stop talking because damn.....Read it yourself!!!

It's a short read and I have soooo many questions and thoughts....
I can't wait.... #2 will be released in a few days...o my god

Very Kol Anderson story, it has already every disturbing ingredients in it and there will be more

I loved every page !

I really don't know what could I possibly write about this one. I grabbed it for the dark part. I got some, but clearly not enough.

I've read the author's Trigger Warnings. So I'd suggest readers to do it too, not dive in it blindly.

It was a good story so far, but I should definitely read more to satisfy my curiosity. This one isn't enough. Not even close. Too short.

If I was impressed with the immense growth in Kol Anderson's fictional voice with Senseless, then I'm blown away with the explosive start of this new series. There is no fluff, there is no build up. You are just thrown straight into the deep end right from the start as you get to know the poor and unfortunate Jake, who has to deal with an alcoholic and abusive father, as he tries and look out for his younger brother.

Some kids just get handed a rotten hand in life when it comes to the parents they are cursed with.

This is perhaps the most erotic book I've ever read of Kol's, and that's saying a lot.

I loved the sporadic nods to literature writing in there, and he has some really beautiful lines in this book that rip you out of your own world and into this masterfully created world of angst, hopelessness and resignation.

I won't lie, I enjoyed the HELL out of this book, and simply can't wait for the follow-ups. Luckily, I hear, it won't be long until we get more.

I need this, need this, need this in my daily life like I need coffee to function.

Thank you Kol for blessing us with your talent and for making us believe the art of storytelling isn't dead.

Now please, hurry up. We're waiting!

Meh.

You can't simply throw in taboo subjects and hope they stick. This novella tries to go for shock factor but its just dull. The writing is choppy and the story just feels forced. Even though its a short story, there is no depth to the characters and I felt no emotion for Jake.

In order for me to enjoy a book (and I would think this counts for most) I need to actually care about the main character. Taboo just starts at an awkward place and keeps going, all the while we never really get to develop feelings for Jake, Colton or anyone else in the story.

I definitely, unfortunately, will not be be continuing this series and possibly this author.

On to the next!

***Please heed the Author's Warnings***

This is a nasty, brutal, messed up story from the King of Messed Up stories himself, and surely my dear Kol, you could arrange for something really heavy to drop from a very great height onto that complete cretin Zach...cos you know, he really deserves it [actually in truth, there are several candidates...]!! 4 stars.

This is certainly the stuff of nightmares: an abusive, uncaring father who pimps out his virgin son for booze money, a so-called friend who gives Jake drugs in exchange for blowjobs, plus an evil boss-man who claims this beautiful boy for his very own, but needs to destroy him first.

Gah! No wonder Jake takes drugs and wants to die. And yet he needs to protect his younger brother from their father.

Trey provides the only ray of light in Jake’s hellish life when he frees him from Zach’s clutches and saves his virginity. I’m wondering whether Trey will be the hero and somehow come to Jake’s rescue again. After all, his cuddle was enough to aid him after his overdose. “Maybe because he was vulnerable and that made me want to protect him. He triggered something in me, something primal and instinctual.”

Yet at the same time, I’m also considering whether he and Weldon are the same person as there are hints to Trey being messed up and trying to restrain himself with Jake. Just wondering which dark path Kol is heading on with these guys…

Indeed Weldon is a mystery. Who is he and why does he want Jake so much? More importantly what’s going through his mind? He obviously gets turned on by seeing and hearing Jake suffer. He’s a scary man who has power and authority over his men. He gives the impression he can do anything he wants and can control others to do his bidding. At first, he appears to be rescuing Jake from his obnoxious father, only for us to find out Weldon's intentions are even more despicable. As Trey says right at the beginning, “The world is always falling apart.” I was surprised by his last act considering Weldon wanted the boy so much. Jake wished to die before this, but now… I’m amazed he survived the violation.

As you read, you’re wondering what dark thing is going to happen next. The situation seems pretty hopeless towards the end of this instalment. And seeing the incest tag to the series, will Weldon force Jake and his brother/father into some non-con acts and use them to inflict more pain and suffering?

Kol writes suspense well. His characters and storyline are all engaging. There are some beautiful lines I especially like in the beginning of Trey’s chapter. “I wanted to be inside him, and I wanted him to be so captivated by me he forgot whatever it was that made his eyes sad, or gave him that cut right above his brow.”

Kol Anderson fans will love it!

Review by The Blogger Girls.

Ha! This story starts out differently than I had expected. It starts out showing us Jake, a bruised up 19 year old out at a party where he meets a much older Trey who saves him from overdosing. Though he is definitely attracted, there is clearly more going on with Jake, so Trey plays it safe and simply takes care of Jake for the evening.

It is when Jake returns home that we quickly see the extent of the problems he is facing. Unfortunately, things escalate very fast and Jake finds himself in a world of hurt it doesn’t seem he will ever be able to escape. When Weldon makes his appearance, in true Kol fashion, it is made very clear that Weldon has some major plans for Jake.

This installment is only the beginning of what promises to be everything the tags warn about and more. It is just a taste of what’s to come, and I was on the edge of my seat throughout. My heart is breaking more and more for poor Jake. Will Trey somehow end up being his savior? Will there be anything left to save? And if so, what kind of shape will he be in? Is Jake’s younger brother, Colton, destined for the same in a few years? So many questions, and I can’t wait to get to the bottom of it all.

Taboo, Book One is a very short, jam-packed exciting read. If you’re a fan of Kol’s writing, which is 99% dark and depraved, you will undoubtedly enjoy this one. It is well-written and more of everything for which he is known. If this is up your alley, be sure not to pass this one by. I’m already jonesing for the next installment!

Damn....well...I always know going into a Kol book that my heart is going to be ripped out...trod on a few times and not always put back...In this one it's no different...My heart was ripped out in the first few pages just seeing Jake like that.....What happened later on well that just ripped it into pieces....This is a short read but the first of the series and we all know Kol likes to drag us around after him....His little demon minions who just love to jump into his torturous books......Jake is protecting his brother Colton but I don't think he realised just how evil his own father is....Yes Benner...Your evil....just because you "changed your mind" doesn't make you the good guy.....Did you enjoy watching what Weldon did to your son....His first time shouldn't have been like that......Weldon is even more evil and he hasn't even started yet....This is going to be a torturous journey for us and for poor Jake....I'm hoping that the small glimpse we had of Trey is going to be Jake's saviour....A truly great start to the series x

I guess I just don't get it. First of all, many have tagged this as Romance but it's not. Second, it ends with a cliffhanger. So it's not a complete story. I didn't know that before I purchased it. I'm guessing you'll have to buy (?) however many installments to get the complete story. I bought "Book one and Book two" (although I don't call what I read a book) at the same time but I probably won't read the second one. It will only piss me off even more if it ends on a cliffhanger as well. Third, it felt contrived. I'm all about pushing limits and taboo subjects and I wanted to like but it felt like stuff was being thrown in just for shock value. :(

This is my unsolicited opinion of a book I purchased.

Kol Anderson at his best. Just sublime writing that draws you in and spits you out with long lasting bruises. God, I just want to rescue Jake but at the same time watch with bated breath to Weldon's intentions. Fuck I hate him and curse Kol with every breath... how could you do this to me?????
I've missed the pure talent of Mr Anderson... he's still the only writer I've ever encountered that slays me with his offerings. Other authors, regardless of their fluff level should take note... this is how you pack punch without waffle.
I'm dying for part 2... so Anderson... quick smart!!

WOW!!!!.....Another journey to hell... I just hope I get to come back because once again my wicked genius, Kol Anderson, has managed to leave me speechless and in awe. I love it. I have missed this so much.

Taboo is a gut-wrenching, edge of your seat read that you won't be able to put down. This is Jake's story. He is just barely a teen and life has dealt him some crappy cards and unfortunately his hand just gets worse. He so desperately wants to be rescued and just when he thinks he might have a savior, in his new friend, Trey, his worst nightmare is about to make an appearance in Weldon.

This story is part one of a new series Mr Anderson is giving us. It is most definitely a dark read and it lives up to the title and so goes there. I was just about to say "Oh, this is great" when my jaw hit the floor and I was saying WTF... "where is Kol taking me now with this unforgettable cast?" My advice is if you love to dance with the devil then this is great place to start a two-step. Just make sure not to let go. Heed all the warnings it's intense for sure and if I know better it's only going to get better. I can't wait for part 2. What a great read. Pick this one up you will love it. .

In a word... Unbelievable.

First of all, I hate dark reads. Second of all, I hate violence. Third of all, I hate to see human suffering at the hands of evil.

This book was brutal. It was upsetting. It was disturbing. It was an adrenaline rush. I couldn't put it down.

I loved it.

I'm floored by that realization. It's unbelievable. Shocking, really.

I have already obtained Book 2.

This entire series is available on Kindle Unlimited.

Read the trigger warnings. Take them seriously.

This was so good. I just couldn’t stop reading. The tension building was amazing. It got me on the edge the whole time. I’ve read other books from the author, but this is definitely one of my favorites.

It was a truly unexpected series of events. I liked the different POV, maybe Trey was the less impressive, but it was nice to see how Jake was seen by the outside world. Weldon…he was a mind-blowing character, I still wonder what’s inside that mind. I’m very interested on knowing more of him. Jake was stunning, the pain was so palpable. It was just impossible not to care for him, and there was also so much mixed feelings about him, because obviously I felt sorry for him and want things go right for him, but on the other hand he suffer beautifully. So, I don’t know what to think about him, I can’t wait to see what comes next.

The plot was great, really twisted, and yet, sadly realistic. I do recommend to anyone interest in reading this book to pay serious attention to the warnings, there is not a sweet story hidden behind that beautiful cover, this is very dark and the warnings are to be taken very seriously.

I have to admit I felt like I hated the author after reaching the end of the book and finding: end of part I. My mistake because now I can see in the tittle that is only a #1 on a series, but I can’t be blame, because I want more, and I want it now. This was great, I can’t wait for more.

I love all of Kol books, it is inevitable.
Although this book does not make exceptions.
Jake is a pure heart, with a horrible father and a little brother to be protected, and in this occasion we see the torturer of Jake, Weldon ...
And last but not least Trey and I look forward to reading the dynamics left unresolved in this first part one. As always Kol has the ability to tell the taboo story with a sensitivity, which believe me, few people how to do!
Then Kol Hurry up and give as the second part !!! XDDD
Love you <3 <3

Dark and gritty and all kinds of messed up. I wouldn't have minded all that, if it hadn't just been a constant torture fest on Jake. And going into Weldon's point of view was disturbing. I could care less what that guys views are. Also, Weldon reminded me a lot of Negan from The Walking Dead. The book definitely made me shiver and gasp and tear up. But when there's no light or hope at all, it just made me wonder what am I reading this for? I guess there is the hope of Trey magically rescuing Jake, which if that's the case it would have been a great point of view to put at the end of this part to give the reader hope that this serial isn't just a train wreck that has no hope of any survivors...

I do think the idea of this story is great... and mostly its been done pretty well. I do want to continue the serial, but I am feeling a little anxious about it.

This was short and so very not sweet and had all the elements that I have come to expect and relish from Kol.

This is parenting gone wrong – epically wrong and leaves Jake more than battered and bruised and very much alone. The thing I like most about Kol’s stories is that you don’t have a clue what the end result is going to be. You can almost guarantee what you are going to get throughout the story but you can never guess where it will end. Just when you become convinced you have worked it out the plot sneakily changes course and you are left with no clue once more. The cast of characters is intriguing but who are they really and how are they going to fit into the story? Who is going to save Jake? Where is his brother?

This first episode of Taboo is dark, delicious and frustrating. It teases at the story to come but cuts you off before giving you any answers. Kol excels at telling a story but be sure it’s a story you want to read– heed the warnings!

Too dark for even me, which is crazy considering some of my favorites are dark as hell. It started promising, until I was like, uhhhhhhhhhh........no thanks....

An explosive start to his new Taboo series and probably one of his most twisted erotic stories to date. This first installment in the series ends with many loose ends that captivate us to continue on with future installments.

This is definitely Kol and his dark, depraved style of engrossing writing. If you are one for a dark expertly written tale you will not be disappointed.

You get what you deserve when you read a Kol Anderson book. It’s rarely a happy ending… seriously. If it ends in a happy ending I feel like there’s an extra page lurking that’s about to make everyone blow up.

In Taboo this is volume one of what is sure to be a very dark, gritty, hellish, torturous story. Literally torturous. Jake has a really horrible life. SO SO HORRIBLE! I’m not sure I can express in words how bad things are for him. This is such a short read there’s so little I can tell you that won’t give anything away.

When it starts out we know Jake has some stuff going on, when it’s made clear how bad it is you wish you could un-know.

This is not an easy read it’s a dark non-con, dub-con, taboo, big on the torture story so heed those warnings. It’s the beginning of this series that I am guessing will be a bunch of shorts. In each we will get more answers and read more horrible depraved things. But that is what this author is known for and it’s what he writes best.

So put on your bog boy/girl pants and get mindf*cked!

I'm a bit lost for words. This isn't erotica, because erotica indicates consent and there's no consent from anyone anywhere at any point in this book. I think I can say it bothers me that anyone sane is turned on by the way Jake's treated unless of course this will prove to be one of those twisted plots that by the end we find out Jake himself signed up for this.

I have to give this book some thought before rating it because Kol Anderson can obviously write and there sure is no problem with his imagination but did I enjoy this book, no not really, unless I think of it as some horror book maybe.
