Rate this book
Georgiana Smith discovers on her sixteenth birthday who and what she is: a were animal.
As she gets to know more about the family she had no idea existed and the world she discovers she belongs to, she's told she's one of the weres from a prophecy thousands of years old that stated that the Five, white were mixes, would take control of the Council that rules over were animals.
Ignoring aspects of a world where she feels she belongs, not only will Georgiana have to open up to and learn to trust as she leaves heartbreak behind, but she'll have to overcome dangerous situations when threats take many forms and her suspicions aren't always accurate.

This book follows the story of Georgiana, a girl who finds out she's a were animal on her sixteen birthday! Not only her life changes completely, but she's told she's one of the Five. Those are the five mixes who, according to a prophecy, will take over the Council.

The author takes us immediately into the action as the story starts with Georgiana's birthday.
She's an orphan and she knows nothing about her past or her parents.
I felt like the first few chapters were a bit too rushed but then the story slowed down and I got easily into it. 😊
We get to know about the were world, their system, the different species and how they live and adapt to the human world. In my opinion the story is quite original because I haven't seen a lot of were stories around. What made it even more intriguing was the mystery surrounding a great part of the story... Oh yes! A lot of things can happen if you're one of the Five. Not everyone is happy about them being around.

There are also some YA cliche like an insta-love, which I'm not very fond of, and a love triangle.
I loooove the friendships that have formed. I root for that squad 😍
I also appreciated Georgiana who's not one of the usual dumb characters. She knows what questions to ask and how to behave in this new world.

That being said, I can't wait to know what will happen next. The story ended with many questions unanswered. This book gave us bits and pieces of this fascinating new world and I feel like there's so much more that needs to be explained. The prophecy first of all!
Definitely recommended! ❤

Foster kid Georgiana Smith doesn’t understand what is happening to her. She wakes up on her sixteenth birthday to find that she has transformed into an animal. With the help of a boy named Henry, she discovers that she is a were animal and a special one at that.

Georgiana grew up with the knowledge that her mother died during childbirth and her father is unknown. She had no idea that she was a were animal and one of a special five that is all white and a mixed breed. According to a thousand year old prophecy, it states that all white mixed breeds will take over and rule all weres. With the help of Henry, a school just for weres, and new friends, Georgia for the first time feels like she belongs somewhere.

In the first book of the series, the author creative crafts a story were readers are introduced to the were culture and get to see how a young girl begins the journey of a lifetime. The writing and description is so good that I as a reader actually could imagine Georgiana shifting into her pumapard form, taking on the characteristics of this catlike creature, and feel the adrenaline as she ran through the woods in her new form. I can’t wait to read the second in the series to see what happens next.
