Don’t worry when they’re arguing, worry when they’re quiet. How well can we truly know someone? Cupcake baker Melissa Beckett has a lot on her plate - running a business, keeping up with friends and family, and indulging in more than her share of hair-raising amateur sleuthing. Lives are changing and murder is afoot in this fast-paced adventure in the sleepy seaside town of Calgon, Florida. As if Missy doesn't have enough on her mind, her dashing detective hubby, Chas, becomes suddenly distant, and she wonders what hides behind his brooding, distracted demeanor. Missy’s bestselling author friend, Izzy, takes a bold new step in her life and an awkward situation presents itself, while her handyman, Spencer, is off working in an exotic locale, taking some time to think. Spencer has some major life decisions to make, and his choices will impact Missy and Chas's life profoundly. Will Calgon ever be the same? This fun Cozy Mystery can be read as a standalone, but if you’re interested in finding out more about Missy, her husband, Detective Chas Beckett, and the rest of the gang, you’ll want to read the Frosted Love Cozy Mysteries, which precede this series, along with all the other INNcredibly Sweet books which follow this one. The saga continues with the Cupcakes in Paradise series. Enjoy them all!
Big changes are happening in Calgon, Florida. Missy and Chas have sold the inn they were operating and living in. Chas has made a decision about his detective job with the local police force and presented a new plan of operations to his friend and employee, Spenser. Echo and Kel have welcomed their new baby girl, Jasmine, into their lives. Missy surprises Chas with a cruise that will give them some quality time together and a break from their busy lives. On board the ship they become acquainted with Blanche and Stewart Fontaine, who have the suite next to theirs. Sharing an island tour with them only emphasizes what a boor, Stewart is. Returning to work after their vacation, Chas is called to the scene of a suspicious death. The victim is Stewart and the reason for his death has the coroner and his assistant temporarily stymied. When the autopsy results come back, the coroner gives Chas the startling news. In turn, Chas sends Spenser to investigate people and places that the two couples had come into contact with during the cruise. Another wonderful adventure and twisted murder plot with characters that are like close friends and family. This series never fails to deliver an entertaining read.
So, this is really well-written, but it felt different than her previous books. I could've done without the graphic (for a cozy) descriptions of the body, but I do understand that it was necessary to understand the horrific nature of the murder. It was a very well-written mystery, and the reveal kind of freaked me out a bit.
I was all set to rate with four stars untiiiilllll… Hercules entered. The simple meeting between him and Izzy had my eyes puffy from tears. Sweetest. Thing. Ever. And now it’s, “Spencer who?” I can’t wait to get to know the long-haired teddy bear better in the upcoming books.
What was this book about and what’d I think of it? I don’t remember because of Hercules. His breed just happens to be my favorite all since I saw one 20 years ago. I fell in love right then.
Next is book 15 of 16 - Killer Me Green I just noticed something… on Amazon where I always get my books for my e-reader, book 12 is missing or actually labeled wrong. All this time I’ve thought there are 16 books in this series when the reality is there are 15. “Killer Me Green” is actually book 14 of 15. Goodreads has the books labeled correctly. So all of my reviews are messed up as far as book numbers go. Oh well.
Wonderful book, Summer has done it again. The INNcredibly Sweet series has been a winner from the first book; #14 couldn't get any better. After meeting so many nice people along the series, it is refreshing to see how much love there is among friends. No spoilers; leave it for you to read, but I read a few of the reviews and wondered where the "grabbing tissues" reference came from; on my what an ending. Summer there has got to be more.
This book is great! The cliffhanger from the last book really left you wondering....but this book resolves everything. Izzy is also really prevalent in this book and that's fantastic....she's a fantastic character. Everybody should read this series!
I've enjoyed all of the books in this series, but they just keep getting better and better! I cried happy tears at the end for both Izzy and Hercules. Can't wait to read more. 😊
This series continues to be able to entertain with all the fun characters. The characters are still so quirky and interesting to read. The storyline keeps showing more of the great writer that Summer Prescott is.
Thank to Kel and Echo we have a new character living in Calgon, Florida. We don’t learn much about her, but everyone seems to fall in love with her the moment they meet her.
Chas and the police department have finally gotten the murder rate in Calgon to go down and Chas finds himself combing cold case files. While he likes the idea of helping families find closure he becomes restless. He also has the weight of the family business on his shoulders. Chalmers is getting up in years and could use the support of Chas since his brother and sister are not interested in the business their father left for them. He must decide what to do with his future.
Missy feels that something is bothering Chas, but she is unable to get him to tell her. She decides what he needs is a get-away. Missy plans a cruise trip for them and surprises Chas with a wonderful vacation.
While boarding the ship they meet an older couple who is taken with Chas and Missy’s affection for one another. After introductions are made they find themselves with cabins next to each other. They also see the first signs of the man’s darkside.
Meanwhile, back at home Spencer has a decision of his own to make and while he ponders his future Izzy shows up to have a heart to heart.
This latest installment is very good. I like that we are taken to a new location even if it’s brief. The new characters are well-developed. The storyline moves at a steady pace and is never boring. While this book could stand alone, I recommend reading the entire series.
Watch out for loud and bossy neighbors on a cruise ship when you are on a small vacation!!!!!
I give this book 20+ stars!!!!!! I can't wait for the next book. There is still so much to write about, what Spencer is going to do and is Izzy getting the dog and Spencer. What has Chas decided with his company, and Missy with her friendship between her and Echo and hubby Kel and their little family. Where is Carla at? So much to tie up, will Janessen come back for a visit to Spencer. Will Joyce find a love interest instead of for Spencer? The cruise Chas and Missy went on was great until they met some loud and bothersome passengers, that end up in the next cabin and the same tours around the island. Then stuff starts to happen. When they got back they were in for a shock and Chas had to send Spencer on an investigation on the same cruise ship and the same tours. YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED WITH THE WAY THE BOOK IS GOING!!!!!!!
This is a fantastic book and it looks like the author is going to be changing things up a bit in the future, beginning with this book. This is all good news! In this book Chas has a lot on his mind and Missy decides they need to get away for a while and maybe recharge things. Spencer has also been thinking a lot about things and whatever he decides to do could impact a lot of lives. The last book in this series ended with Echo in labor and the doctor telling Kel that some decisions were going to have to be made. Will Echo and the baby be alright? You have to read this book to find out!
So many changes have occurred and continue to happen in this series. While this is the fourteenth book in this series the author gives enough background on the people in the book that it could be read as a stand alone book. I live the characters in this series. I am always reluctant to leave my new friends and dread the wait for the next one!
Like most of Summer Prescott fans, I have been waiting for book number 14 to be released. I couldn't breathe reading the first paragraphs waiting to find out what happened to Echo... I must say if you haven't read any of these books ... you should start. You will get hooked on the characters in this series.. what a wonderful series.
Each book in the series has a surprise, always! This one is no exception. I really hope that things continue to go as well for the characters as this book. I am not giving a spoiler but the end is just possibly going to have you grabbing a tissue. I really like the new directions the characters are moving in and the story is wonderful. It may not have been the most action packed or most dramatic but it's definitely one of my favorites so far. I can't wait for the story to continue in the next book.
I loved the writing of the book. This such a beautiful story. There was only one problem. That was that every two lines there was a gap. It was hard reading the story that way. I guess you'd say it was in poetry style. The story line with Izzy is great. Chas and Melissa seem more in love. Echo and Kel are great in the story. So much happiness in this story and yes tears.
Summer Prescott has a way of drawing you in and not letting you go until the very end. This was a fun fast paced read with wonderful characters and great locations. I will definitely recommend this book and series to friends and family
Another great installment in this on going series that just keeps getting better and better. Each installments gives glimpses into characters we want to get to know better. Izzy, Spenser and Tim as well as others. Can't wait for next book.
