Harbour Bay #4

Doppelganger

Rate this book
A new killer has descended on Harbour Bay, and he’s already killed five women…

Bestselling author Megan Bailey is devastated when her young cousin Stacey goes missing. She’s been watching the news and knows what this might mean. Stacey could be the newest victim of Harbour Bay’s newest serial killer. Megan is determined to do something, and enlists the help of her friend, the superintendent of police, Amelia Donovan.

Amelia has her best detective on the case…Dean Matthews.

Dean doesn’t believe in love. It makes men weak and vulnerable, and as a retired soldier, he’s experienced enough heartache to last several lifetimes. He also has difficulty dealing with emotional women. So when he shows up to interview Megan at the request of his boss, he isn’t exactly looking forward to it. Except Megan isn’t what he expected.

Megan is intelligent, witty, and not to mention, beautiful. Dean tries to maintain a professional distance, but with a killer on the loose, he breaks all his rules and gets involved. He offers Megan comfort and promises he might not be able to keep.

The body count continues to rise and Dean’s leads are empty as ever…

When Megan disappears too, Dean knows his time to solve this case is up. He must unravel the twisted web of clues the killer has left behind or risk the one woman who might finally teach him to love again.

I had forgotten how much I enjoyed a really good criminal suspense filled series until I began the books leading up to Doppelganger by Camille Taylor. (Reviews for the previous books will post at a later date) A serial killer, murder, crime, suspense; these are all things that I love in real life. I have a criminal justice degree, I am a paralegal, and wanted to go into criminal law but that unfortunately did not happen but crime stories just have always fascinated me.

Doppelganger didn’t disappoint in any way, like the previous books I was hooked almost from the very start and wanted to figure out the mystery myself but at the same time I didn’t because I loved the suspense of not knowing. Dean and Meghan will keep you on the edge of your seat as well on the edge of burning passion between them that you know when it happens will burn hot.

I highly recommend Doppelganger as well as the previous books to anyone who is a fan of a criminal suspense filled book. While there is romance I think the best way to describe these books is murder, crime and suspense with a side of romance.

Suspense & action entwined 😍😍😍

This book. My goodness.. It kept me going like crazy till the very last page. The fast pace, the suspense, the thrill amidst the sweet romance had me on the edge of my seat.
I had a freaking blast reading this one. Actually reading it nonstop, just couldn't keep it down.
Amazingly brilliant story and direction it takes.
Megan is an accomplished writer, her stories being loved by many. Her life is good until her young cousin living with her goes missing.
With the bodies being found of victims, speculation is her cousin Stacey could likely be the next victim.
Of the man they call as the "Highway Dumper" who the cops are in search of.
Dean Matthews has been losing sleep and being devastated seeing young girls losing her lives in horrific ways, he wanted the man who was behind this.
When his superintendent calls to say his friend's cousin has gone missing now, he knows it's a little more personal now as his boss is involved.
The entire police force wants to nab this bas**** but are out of clues.
OMG.. THE TWISTS AND TURNS IN THIS ONE. WHEN I THOUGHT FINALLY EVERYTHING WAS GOING TO BE RESOLVED, OUT OF LEFT FIELD COMES THIS OTHER DEVASTATING BLOW, ANOTHER SECRET AND I WAS LIKE.. OH MY😳😳😳😳😳😳😳.
WOW, What an awesome journey this one was. Totally UNPUTDOWNABLE book. Also the chemistry between Dean and Megan just adds to this exciting and thrilling ride. Loved loved loved this one. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Doppelgänger

This is a good thriller, mystery, and romantic book. It’s book four, so I’m going to have to go back and read the first 3. It is a stand-alone book though, so it is not necessary, but it’s my choice to read the others.

4* read.
This book was quite far out what I normally read in the fact that it was a thriller/suspense which I don't normally read. That been said I did enjoy it and I loved the drama and journey of this story I just wanted a bit more romance side to it aswell, although there is romance in it there wasn't enough for my personal taste.
It was fun trying to guess what was going to happen next and who was doing what and I will defiantly be reading more from this author in the future. A good read that took me out of my comfort zone.

O.M.G. What a wonderful book! When I started this book, I honestly couldn't remember what it was about or it's genre. It opens up as a thriller and shifts from there.

I truly enjoyed reading this story. It was a great romantic thriller. The relationship is undeniable and the thriller undercurrent keeps tapping at you like the tell-tale heart.

The things thought of in this story are scary, but only because they are plausible. If there had been a declaration of being based off true events, I certainly would believe it!

At about 45% of the way through the book, I knew who bad guy was and why. But my knowing didn't stop the roller coaster because there is a lot more going on than him. Buckle up and enjoy the ride! I am so happy I was chosen to read this wonderful gem! Thank you so much!!
