Over the years I have done hours upon hours upon hours of therapy: from occupational , to speech, to play, to physical, to attachment, to infant stimulation and more. I have had therapists I adore and others I really struggled with. This book put into words exactly why I’ve loved the therapists I have connected with and spelled out in logical terms the reasons why I’ve not preferred working with others. Throughout the rest of my time as a foster parent, I think I will always keep a copy of this book on hand to give to the new teacher, the next therapist or the principal. Whether you are the parent or the therapist, I would give this a read. It is fantastic.
I highly recommend this book for anyone who works with young children, especially in healthcare or education. Dr. Delahooke does an amazing job at integrating complex clinical information from research and practice in neuroscience, child development, physiology, social and emotional development, and relationship-based approaches into manageable and understandable components to support child and family growth and development.
