Very detailed look at the background to the siege, the siege itself, and the aftermath. Great detailed, period maps and drawings. Lots of Vauban references. All around great. Some minor differences between other histories I've read, which means I'll need to do some more digging.
Although focused on a specific siege and fort the author does an excellent job of putting it in the broader context of the French & Indian war. I especially liked the use of primary sources - personal papers from both French and British perspectives. I've been reading a lot about this period generally and this is the first book to define and illustrate specific military tools / techniques specific to siege warfare.
