When Sarah Roberts arrives at the airport, she’s abducted by Toronto’s organized crime group, the ’Ndrangheta, before her boyfriend can get her to safety. Shackled in a floating prison, Sarah discovers why they took her, and how it will affect the people she loves.
The chase is on to find Sarah, but she’s about to be released in exchange for the one her captors really want. Someone who saved Sarah’s life in the past—and who is willing to die for her.
Bound, gagged, and out of options, Sarah is forced to act as bait to lure her friends from hiding. With her deceased sister Vivian strangely silent, the only help Sarah receives is from the muted dead, and they aren’t saying much.
The Chase leads Sarah to discover murder isn’t always the answer. Sometimes mass murder works better.

Once again, Jonas Saul had me sitting on the edge of my chair, waiting to see how Sarah was going to survive this adventure. It left me, as usual, longing for the next book in this se!ries. I think he is the only author in many years to have written 19 books in a series that i just can't get enough of! Marion Zimmer Bradley was the last author to suck me in so completely, with her Darkover series. Come on, Jonas, I NEED book 20!!
If you haven’t read Jonas Saul you’re missing out. Sarah started out so broken and now she can take on the world. Every book keeps you on the edge of your seat and it’s almost impossible to stop reading. Treat yourself to an amazing read. I recommend starting with book one , you won’t believe where you can go.
Absolutely love this series! It is a must read and very addictive. Its a struggle to wait for that next book to come. You will love the series and the characters.
It was great having all the characters from previous books working to get Sarah back. I love the dojo boys, especially Alex. Can't wait for The Betrayal to come out.
This series honestly never disappoints me. As much as I missed some of the heroic actions from Sarah, it was really heartwarming (and at times, heartbreaking) to see how over this series of novels, Sarah has become so loved and that she has so many friends (and also...in law enforcement) who support her form of justice and would do anything to protect her. She has come such a long way from the teen she was in Dark Visions!

This by far my favorite "Sarah" book. I love the twists and turns this book makes. I laughed. I cried but most of all I cheered. Guessing what's coming next is impossible. If you love a good action story you will love this book. Jonas Saul writes books that grab you at the beginning satisfy you (for a short time ) and leave you wanting more. Haven't read a book by him that I don't like. Pick up one of his books and I believe you will love his stories too.
Omg this story. Everyone from previous books that was alive made an appearance in this one. This was an emotional ride with one heck of a surprising plot twist that I wasn't expecting.
Explosive chaos begins in chapter one and continues throughout this novel when Jonas calls in the best of the best of his high profile characters that we've come to know and love through the Sarah Roberts series. The Chase had me gasping, hand held over my mouth, crying out, "No no no" many times after midnight. Don't miss this one THE CHASE is on! I'm so looking forward to book #20 coming out sometime this summer and thanking Jonas Saul for many years of reading through my retirement.
Jonas continues to thrill us with his epic series of the continuing saga of Sarah Roberts. For those who haven't been following his books, I have to say your not only missing a exciting thriller with all the ingredients that include murder, vigilantes, supernatural , power of good vs evil and much more. For me it's that and the excitement of reading new stories and actually being able to interact with the Author. Jonas has a website and makes himself available on Facebook to his readers..... I also enjoy his aftermath as he explains some of his thoughts on how and why he creates some of his storylines and characters for the book... The Chase brought as he promised a full cast of characters that in the end was a grand slam with as usual in Jonas style a dangling hint of what's to come. In the end for all of us kindle or traditional readers it's worth the time and never to late to binge read and or catch up with us as books 20 and 21 are on their way. Cheers Jonas and may your pen never run out of ink and your imagination continue to thrive... Ronn Just Ronn.
Yes. Jonas just can't stop writing and I can't stop reading his work. You would think after 19 books of the same character(s) it would become mundane. Not with Jonas though. His imagination and creativity keeps it alive and edge of your seat interesting. Thank you Jonas
Wow!!!! Sarah and her crew take on the Canadian Mafia....and many die.
However this time there are many deaths on both sides, and Sarah's group does not escape the Grim Reaper's long reach. Hard decisions are made only to be reversed and abandoned. Even as Sarah stumbles from one catastrophic episode another reaches out to embrace her as she flees....Nonstop adrenaline flow! I m growing weary of saying it, but this is the best of the series and simply too few stars available to rate!
Poor sahra not a moment to herself just when she wants some downtime she's in a fight for her life and the lives of her friends. Book does not disappoint only advice to readers is to read the Mafia Triligy it will give you some insite in who Dawrin is, sit back and enjoy the ride !
I have enjoyed reading this and all of the Sarah Roberts series. I can't wait for the next book in the series to come out. I am hooked on all of Jonas Saul's books. I like the way that he puts so much history in the books. Thank you Jonas.
I like Jonas Saul's ability to write engaging thrillers without adding nonsensical fluff in between just to fill pages. The scenery, story, and characters are all vividly shared without forcing us to skip through pages of ad nauseam descriptions, that draw out a story, which could be told in half the pages (how many people enjoy long stories told by friends that take an hour to get to the point?).
It's hard to imagine a character being engaging enough to carry a book to and beyond 19 chapters. Sarah's unique psychic ability with her long dead sister keeps evolving and changing so that no two books are exactly alike. To think of how far we have come from Sarah's automatic writing days.
Ok Saul, at what airport did you ever see the number of guards you’ve got in this story, I hope you’re paying them. This story would be better titled “The Mafia” I didn’t get the chase? Anyway, enough with the nit picks. It overall was a good book. 5
A fast paced and heart throbbing book. The plot went an unexpected direction very early and the pages couldn't turn enough. It didn't seem that any of the main characters were going to survive by the end of the book.
Especially after living in Toronto for 20 years....I love being able to picture the exact locations in the books from memory of visiting them myself. I too bought many albums (yes I mean vinyl) from Sam the Record Man and spent many afternoons browsing the Worlds Biggest Book Store.
It brings the stories to life so much that I could almost see myself passing Aaron or Sarah on the street with a smile and hello on a sunny afternoon!
Reading a Jonas Saul book is like standing forever for the best roller coaster, full of twists and turns and then before you know it, it's over. I wish I didn't read so fast. I stopped several times to watch YouTube videos and a couple of movies to prolong my reading time. The Chase was absolutely brilliant if not a bit heartbreaking. I can't wait for The Betrayal. I am absolutely honored to call Jonas my friend.
