June 11, 2017നട്ടുവളര്ത്തിയ ഒരു നോവലാണിത്. പഴുത്തു വീഴുമ്പോഴാണ്, മഞ്ഞ നിറത്തിലാണ് ഇലയുടെ പച്ചഞരമ്പുകള് തെളിഞ്ഞു കാണുക. നശിപ്പിക്കപ്പെട്ടപ്പോള് പ്രകൃതി നമ്മുടെ കണ്മുന്നില് കൂടുതല് തെളിഞ്ഞു വരുന്നതു പോലെ. പ്രകൃതി-മനുഷ്യ ജീവിതത്തിന്റെ, അതിന്റെ തകര്ച്ചയുടെയും വീണ്ടെടുപ്പിന്റെയും പുസ്തകമാണ് ഹെര്ബേറിയം. കഥയോ കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളെയോ അടര്ത്തി എഴുതി ഇതു ദീര്ഘിപ്പിക്കുന്നില്ല. പരിസ്ഥിതി വാദത്തിന്റെ ഏടുകളിലൊന്നും കാണാത്ത പ്രകൃതിയുടെ ജൈവവിധാനം ഇതിലുണ്ട്. പ്രകൃതിയാണ് പ്രധാന കഥാപാത്രം എന്നെഴുതിയാല് അതു ഖസാക്കിനെ കുറിച്ചൊക്കെ പലകുറി ആവര്ത്തിച്ച പ്രശംസയാണ്. അല്ലെങ്കില് ഈ ഹെര്ബേറിയത്തില് അപ്രധാന കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളില്ല. ദൈവജ്ഞാനം, ജൈവജ്ഞാനം, മനുഷ്യ-ഭൂമി ശാസ്ത്രം. മൂന്നും വായിച്ചെടുക്കാനായ ഒരു പുസ്തകം ഇതെന്നൊരു സന്തോഷം.
ഇതെന്റെ ആദ്യ ഹെർബേറിയമല്ല. മുമ്പൊരു ഹെർബേറിയമുണ്ട്. ആഷാമേനോന്റെ. എന്റെ പ്രിയപ്പെട്ട പുസ്തകം. അതേ തലക്കെട്ടിട്ടതെന്തിന് എന്നൊരു സങ്കോചം എനിക്കുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. മനസ്സിന്റെ താളുകൾക്കിടയിൽ പറ്റിപ്പിടിച്ചു പോകുന്ന സംഭവങ്ങളുടെ ഹെർബേറിയമാണത്. ഹെർബേറിയം തന്നെ ദ്രവാംശം ചോർത്തി ഇലകളേയും പൂക്കളേയും സൂക്ഷിച്ചു വെക്കലാണ്. പ്രാണന്റെയും പച്ചയുടെയും; ഭാഷ വശമില്ലാത്തവർക്കു പോലും രചിക്കാവുന്ന കൃതി, പണിയാവുന്ന മ്യൂസിയം. എല്ലാ മ്യൂസിയങ്ങളും കാലത്തെ സ്ഥലത്തിൽ അമർത്തിവെക്കാനുള്ള ശാഠ്യമാണെന്ന കാര്യം പാമൂക്ക് നിഷ്കളങ്കതയുടെ മ്യൂസിയത്തിൽ പ്രദർശിപ്പിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.
സോണിയയുടെ ഹെർബേറിയം കടലാസ് പുറങ്ങൾക്കിടയിൽ പ്രാണൻ വറ്റിച്ചു പച്ചയെ ഒട്ടിച്ചു വെക്കുകയല്ല. പ്രകൃതിയിൽ, അതിന്റെ താളുകൾക്കിടയിൽ പ്രാണനും പച്ചയും ചേർത്തു ജീവിതത്തെ, പ്രകൃതിയെ മുളപ്പിക്കുകയാണ്. കൃതി-പ്രകൃതി വിവേചനം അവസാനിപ്പിച്ചു കൊണ്ട് രണ്ടിനേയും സചേതനമാക്കുകയാണ്. അതിനു കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെ അനുവദിക്കുകയാണ്.
വായനക്കിടെ എനിക്കു തോന്നിയ കാര്യം ഇതുമാണ്. നളിന കാന്തിയും പാറപ്പുറത്തെ വീടും ജീവന്റെ വഴിയും എഴുതിയ ടി.പത്മനാഭന് എഴുതാതിരുന്ന നോവലാണിത്. സ്വര്ഗവും നരകവും പാതാളവും ഭൂമിയുമായി തിരിച്ച ഇരുപതാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിന്റെ ഇതിഹാസത്തില് അക്കിത്തമെഴുതിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. എനിക്കു മാനഹാനിക്കായ് ഇല്ല കാരണമൊന്നുമേ ക്ഷമ യാചിക്കുന്നതിത് എന്നെപ്പെറ്റ ഭൂമിയോടല്ലി ഞാന്. നമ്മുടെ മക്കള്ക്കേ നമ്മെ രക്ഷിക്കാനാകൂ എന്ന പാരിസ്ഥിതിക വിവേകമാണെന്നു തോന്നുന്നു ബെര്ബേറിയത്തിന്റെ ജീവൻ, ജീവന്റെ നാഡിയും.
ഇതെന്റെ ആദ്യ ഹെർബേറിയമല്ല. മുമ്പൊരു ഹെർബേറിയമുണ്ട്. ആഷാമേനോന്റെ. എന്റെ പ്രിയപ്പെട്ട പുസ്തകം. അതേ തലക്കെട്ടിട്ടതെന്തിന് എന്നൊരു സങ്കോചം എനിക്കുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. മനസ്സിന്റെ താളുകൾക്കിടയിൽ പറ്റിപ്പിടിച്ചു പോകുന്ന സംഭവങ്ങളുടെ ഹെർബേറിയമാണത്. ഹെർബേറിയം തന്നെ ദ്രവാംശം ചോർത്തി ഇലകളേയും പൂക്കളേയും സൂക്ഷിച്ചു വെക്കലാണ്. പ്രാണന്റെയും പച്ചയുടെയും; ഭാഷ വശമില്ലാത്തവർക്കു പോലും രചിക്കാവുന്ന കൃതി, പണിയാവുന്ന മ്യൂസിയം. എല്ലാ മ്യൂസിയങ്ങളും കാലത്തെ സ്ഥലത്തിൽ അമർത്തിവെക്കാനുള്ള ശാഠ്യമാണെന്ന കാര്യം പാമൂക്ക് നിഷ്കളങ്കതയുടെ മ്യൂസിയത്തിൽ പ്രദർശിപ്പിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.
സോണിയയുടെ ഹെർബേറിയം കടലാസ് പുറങ്ങൾക്കിടയിൽ പ്രാണൻ വറ്റിച്ചു പച്ചയെ ഒട്ടിച്ചു വെക്കുകയല്ല. പ്രകൃതിയിൽ, അതിന്റെ താളുകൾക്കിടയിൽ പ്രാണനും പച്ചയും ചേർത്തു ജീവിതത്തെ, പ്രകൃതിയെ മുളപ്പിക്കുകയാണ്. കൃതി-പ്രകൃതി വിവേചനം അവസാനിപ്പിച്ചു കൊണ്ട് രണ്ടിനേയും സചേതനമാക്കുകയാണ്. അതിനു കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെ അനുവദിക്കുകയാണ്.

The book is all about changing micro-environment of humans today. The author has succeeded in presenting the main character, a boy who get exposed to nature after reaching in Kerala from the deserts, the changes in him from a full time gamer to a nature lover. How to mould childhood as a parent is also been presented well in the book. The book also highlights agriculture, and nature a science in very interesting manner.

The story started out in an engaging manner and successfully kept me hooked for a while. I particularly loved the author's use of certain similes, and interesting perspective on social structures and the caste system. Somewhere along the middle, it changed directions and became a forced botany lesson, with very unrealistic turns and an Utopian climax. Many plot holes are present and particularly, the take on a child dealing with his mother's son seemed very unconvincing and incomplete.

നഗരത്തിൽ, കോൺക്രീറ്റു ചുമരുകൾക്കിടയിൽ തളച്ചിടപ്പെട്ടു ജീവിയക്കാൻ വിധിയ്ക്കപ്പെട്ട ഒരു കുട്ടിയുടെ ജീവിതാനുഭവങ്ങളിലേയ്ക്ക് ഉള്ള ഒരു എത്തിനോട്ടമാണ് 'ഹെർബേറിയം' എന്ന കൃതി. പ്രകൃതിയുടെ മടിത്തട്ടിലേയ്ക്ക് ഇറങ്ങാൻ കുട്ടിയ്ക്ക് ഇട കിട്ടുമ്പോൾ ഉണ്ടാവുന്ന സ്വാഭാവിക പരിണാമങ്ങൾ കൃതിയെ സുന്ദരമാക്കുന്നു, ഓർമകളിലേക്കുള്ള ഒരെത്തിനോട്ടം കൂടിയാണീ പുസ്തകം.

ഒരു ബാലസാഹിത്യം വായിക്കുന്ന ലാഘവത്തോടെ വായിക്കാവുന്ന ഒരു കൊച്ചു ഫീൽ-ഗുഡ് നോവൽ. മനസ്സിനെ ലഘുവാക്കാൻ ഉപകരിക്കും. അപൂർവമായി അവിടവിടെ തല പൊക്കുന്ന ചില ഗൗരവമുള്ള ചിന്തകൾ ഒഴിച്ച് നിർത്തിയാൽ ഒരു നേർരേഖയിൽ സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്ന ലളിതമായ ആഖ്യാനമാണ് ഇതിന്റെ.

🍃This is one of those books which made me fall in love with listening to audio books (as I have listened in @storytel.in ) . Usually I don't fangirl about authors but this books has changed that. This is the first book I read from the author Sonia Rafeek and I became smitten with the narrative style; a simple storyline to caution a very relevant issue.

🍃The title 'Herbarium' is very much apt for the book. Herbarium is a file or a document which consists of the plant's specimens neatly dried and pressed with their scientific name, place and date on which it is found and other descriptions. This herbarium is diverse. But today the saddest part is that the diversity of plants is nowhere on our earth and our earth is depleting. The book cast light on how we human beings are destroying the rights of plants and animals to live on earth just like us. We are only a part of them or one of them. We as rational beings have no right to destroy our mother earth because of greediness. The book also showcases how our new generation is devoid of the pleasures which one can seek from the nature. It is said that one who can love nature, plants, animals and care for them, they can never harm another human being or a living being. If such is our earth how wonderful it will be.

🍃The story unfolds through a nine year old boy 'Tippu' whose life get transported from the four walls of his flat abroad to the magnanimity of the outer world. It is all about his curiosity and how he discovers the hidden secrets of the nature.

🍃This cute, lovely and excellent work is narrated in an innocent way. It will definitely be a good read for the nature lovers. But I recommend this awesome book to all the mallus out there especially during this time when the whole world is suffering the pandemic. At least now it is the time to rise and work for a better future for our mother earth a child can't help himself/herself from suffering when his/her mother is dying. So we can take a pledge not to cause any more harm to our nature because we belong to nature, nature don't belong to us.

🍃This cute, lovely and excellent work is narrated in an innocent way. It will definitely be a good read for the nature lovers. But I recommend this awesome book to all the mallus out there especially during this time when the whole world is suffering the pandemic. At least now it is the time to rise and work for a better future for our mother earth a child can't help himself/herself from suffering when his/her mother is dying. So we can take a pledge not to cause any more harm to our nature because we belong to nature, nature don't belong to us.
