A secret society. Vampires. Supernaturals. And love. It’s my world, and I have to save it, but not from the monsters.

Abigail Rose’s life was as predictable as the tides rising and falling, until Wes Hunter returned to Sandpoint. Then, the impossible became possible, the predictable became unpredictable, and those monsters became more than friends.

Wes would do anything to keep Abigail safe, and Abigail would leave everything behind to save everyone she loves. A suspenseful romance, blurring the lines between fantasy and reality.

4 No Matter What Stars

Life aligns like stars. there's gaps of empty spaces. hidden are the scars.....
History repeats. But so does change. Does fear retreat or is it delayed?
Now we are chasing time...
I fell today to my darkest place and all that saved me were these paper wings.

💧 I could not begin to imagine what it would be like waking up in a hospital not remembering anything. Welcome to the reality of the girl known as Freckles', she has no name, age or family which causes a sense of not belonging and of being truly alone. This book pulled out the feels from the first page and didn't stop till the last.

💧 While recovering in hospital she meets Grady who is a volunteer. When the doctors deem her body recovered she is released but she has no where to go, knows nothing about working or what she's good at. Grady sees her struggling so takes her to a house he owns but doesn't live at.

 photo wavescrashingonfeet_zpstcbrl1jm.gif

💧 It is here by the sea she meets Brandt the neighbour who she has an instant chemistry with. Their banter and awkward exchanges had me giggling but it is obvious that both Grady and Brandt are hiding something.

💧 For me this read a little like a mystery as I was trying to figure out 'Freckles' past right along with her and trying to figure out if the little clues given throughout where what I thought or not. I would have loved to get Brandt's POV but then I suppose there would not have been so much mystery. I enjoyed all the characters in this story and they all seemed to have a story of their own.

💧 The story takes an unexpected turn when her memory returns and we are taken into the past to learn this mystery girls gut wrenching story.

 photo freckles_zpsyvjo89ae.gif

💧 I can't go into the second part of this story as that would give the whole thing away. What I can say is have those tissues ready because YOU WILL need them.

💧 Not sure why the author finished with that character's POV I would have preferred the other brothers POV as it would have been more relevant.

💧 If you like a good YA, G rated sob story then this ones for you it will hit you right in the feels. It is not an erotic novel there are no 'hot' scenes, just putting it out there for those who need that in a book. So I loved the first half of this book but the second part pulled it down a little but I still really enjoyed it.

3,5 "No matter what" stars!

A modern day Romeo and Juliet in the paranormal world

Abby Rose and Wes Hunter have been friends for years, but Abby wanted to be more than friends. When a sudden accident leaves Abby hurt and Wes gone what happens when he shows back up two years later and changed somehow.

This was the first paranormal book I have read in a few years, and I'm so glad I read it. The odds were against Abby and Wes from the beginning but they were determined to be together.

I don't want to give anything away, but secrets are reveled and Abby's life changes dramatically. I found myself rooting for her and Wes, but I couldn't help but fall a little for someone who came into her life to save it, Elijah Winters.

Just when things were coming together we are left with a cliffhanger. I personal Love cliffhangers and can't wait to read book two.

Abigail was your typical 17 year old girl or so she thought. A series of strange things take place and her life is flipped upside down once Wes comes back into town. Abigail has always been attracted to Wes and was hurt when he left town. Now he's back and they pick up where they left off. Everything is perfect or is it?? Abigail is confronted with some news no teenager wants to hear! She's forced make a difficult choice but she has to do what's right. I admire Abigail's strength during this time. Giving up everything she loves for the greater cause. I'm not sure I would be able to do the same thing if I was in her shoes.

I liked the storyline and the plot held my attention and kept me wanting to read more. I did have a hard time with the whole love triangle so to speak. I didn't feel a connection between any of the characters. Abigail loves Wes and Elijah loves Abigail. This triangle really didn't do anything for me and I was more engrossed in the paranormal aspect of the book so to speak.

This was my first time reading anything by this author and I was impressed. I'm a big fan of Paranormal and YA Paranormal if it's done correctly. The author did a good job laying the foundation in this book. In the paranormal genre the first book sets the tone and is usually my deciding factor if I will continue with the series. I'm happy to report I will be continuing as I'm curious to see how Abigail will adjust with her new life in The Order.

Not the book for me. It contains some beautiful language BUT shows a lack of skill (and a handful of painfully obvious typos) that make it difficult to read. The muddled tenses & odd phrases don't help, either. The dialogue is also awkward and unnatural--not to mention confusing. You never know who is supposed to be saying what.

Honestly, though, poor writing isn't always a deal-breaker. I've read plenty of poorly written books that I've enjoyed. What I DON'T enjoy is a female MC who's floppier than a wet washcloth. Oh, gawd, a boy looked at me, I'm gonna faint. Is that the kind of role model you want your daughter looking up to?

Abigail is an entirely unlikable character. She's embarrassingly weak. In the first chapter, she's comparing losing a boy she wasn't even dating to death. DEATH. Does Abigail remind anyone else of Bella Swan?

Oh, yeah. A whole helping of Twilight got spilled over this one. It even has fangless vampires--one in particular who left the MC for her own good and just doesn't think it's safe to kiss her. And, yeah, all the rain gives Forks a run for its money.

I was bored halfway through and annoyed by the end. I hate to leave reviews like this but there's nothing about 'Midnight Rose' that works for me.

And, OH MY FREAKING GOD. It's "Wes's", not "Wes'".

I have to tell y'all that I am in love with this story. Dani Hart wove a story that held my attention from beginning to end and left me in desperate need of more. It is a YA paranormal story but it is not lacking on the romance.
Hart gives out tiny morsels of information throughout the story that lead you down a path, like Hansel and Gretle and the breadcrumbs, that lead to a truth about an entirely different world for Abigail. Now that I know what Abigail is up against I can't wait to see how she takes on the world.

2.5/5.0

This book hovered at two - two and a half stars throughout the majority of the story. It definitaly reads as a very young YA. It is all over the place with little to no understanding of what the heck is going on. Threads are started then lost at breakneck speed - then picked up again in totally unrelated areas. Even conversations start, then quit as the narratvie pops to something completely different. And what the heck is with a girl who, in the EIGHTH GRADE!! fell so madley and deeply in love that she will never be the same. Seriously, she quit dating anyone else, and, three years later, at 17, can only think of him and falls completely apart (she actually faints) when she sees him again, her love is so deep and strong. Nope. I may be an adult but I can’t believe even a teenager could swallow that stretch.

I kept reading, hoping that it would all come together and make sense at some point. It did… kinda… in the last 20% of the book. Then, it actually got pretty good and by the end I was surprised to find I was invested and want to discover what happens (therefore the reason for rounding up). I’m just not sure if I want the gamble to see if the writing is better or not.

I received Midnight Rose as an ARC in eBook form from Dani Hart and as soon as I started reading it I was hooked! I must admit that I am not a huge fan of eBooks (I just REALLY appreciate the feel and smell of a hardcopy in my hands) but I got over it for this book because it was just so good!

Midnight Rose follows 17-year-old Abby as she struggles to navigate teenage life and recover from a broken heart. Everything is going reasonably well until her ex-boyfriend Wes moves back in to town and Abby’s world is turned upside down. It soon becomes evident that Abby’s whole life has been based on lies and secrets, forcing Abby to adapt and follow her instincts and realise that nothing is as it seems.

I am always a bit weary of paranormal fiction as most of the books I have read in this genre have been quite cheesy and full of clichés. This was not the case with Midnight Rose however, as Dani Hart’s compelling writing style had me hooked from start to finish. I read this book and I am already hanging out for the sequel! All the characters were relatable and flawlessly written and I seriously cannot fault the character development within this book (which is something that I don’t get to say very often). I found myself wholly invested in the storyline (I swear my heart stopped from all the suspense a couple of times) but I can’t say much more without revealing major spoilers.

I adored this book and I am already anxiously waiting for number two. This is one of those books that I could gush on about for ages so let me just say that I highly recommend this book to everyone that loves YA- it’s definitely a must read!

I give Dani Harts Midnight Rose 5 out of 5 stars.

Midnight Rose (Midnight Book 1) by Dani Hart

### 5 Huge Hashtags ###

Wow... just wow ! I love it when a book blows me away. This was a total surprise for me, a paranormal world with a completely different edge to it. I'm not exactly sure what I expected but I really didn't anticipate such a gripping and amazing young-adult story.

Abby is trying to pick herself back up after Wes left town, when suddenly he returns. Very quickly Abby's life alters in ways she never would have known - things will never be the same, she needs to quickly adjust, learn who to trust and which path to choose. Abby's story is beautifully written, full of many unexpected twists and kept me captivated from start to finish.

This is the first book in this series and I cannot wait to get my hands on book 2. I now need to read more from this author, Dani Hart you definitely have a new fan !

Midnight Rose (Midnight series, #1) by Dani Hart is a YA Paranormal Romance Novel.

The first book introduces the reader to Abigail- Abby´s world.
She´s a 17 year old high school student in a small town.
She´s in love for 2 years with Wes Hunter, who left her but is now back.
And there is Elijah Winters. Abby doesn´t know whom to trust.
Both boys make cryptic comments, just as her father.
She´s totally confused. And I understand her perfectly, so was I.
This book is the start to a series and please read and treat it as a beginning.

Secrets will be lifted over time and many more will pop up.
I think Wes´character was a bit plain, maybe he´ll get his time in an other book in this series.
I liked the characters of Abby, Elijah and her parents.
All in all I think Midnight Rose is a good first book in this series and you must not be a 16 year old to enjoy this book.
4 Stars and Thank you Dani Hart!

Midnight Rose (Midnight, #1)

Midnight Rose is a YA paranormal romance book, written by Dani Hart. Since I didn’t read anything about it before hand, not even the blurb, I was not sure what it would be about or even what the genre was. I might not have tried it otherwise. I was honestly guessing, based on the title and cover picture, maybe some sort of mystery/suspense. While, I’m really not into paranormal romances in general, this was pretty good, for what it was. I think people that love this genre would probably enjoy this book a whole lot more than I did, however.

"A secret society.

A suspenseful romance, blurring the lines between fantasy and reality."
-Book Blurb

Wait? This book was about vampires?? I must have missed that part... -_-

Seriously, I was thinking werewolves this whole time... *ahem*

Midnight Rose was a decent read, interesting enough to keep the reader wanting to find out what the big secret is. I enjoyed Abby, aka Abigail Rose, especially as the story went on. She definitely had a big character arc, a transformation. In the beginning of the book she was very anxious, emo and overly angsty, but throughout the story she seems to mature and evolve. At first it was pretty pathetic, though realistic given the past trauma and heartbreak she experienced.

Her transformation is a slow progress to be sure, but the fact that she does change at all, especially for this genre, is applaudable. I liked how quirky she was also, she seemed realistic and relatable. However, on the downside, I wish she would have stood up for herself more. She didn’t feel like a strong female role model to be sure, but one of those girls that lets guys (and anyone, really) trample all over them, and persuade them into stuff, for the sake of "true love". *Cue eye-roll* She felt pretty weak in that regard, but perhaps she will evolve in future installments. Her sacrifice by the end of the book leaves me hopeful.

I really enjoyed how fleshed out many of the side characters were such as Elijah Winters, best friend Kendra, the parents (James and Lucinda), the memories involving the Grandpa (Papa Rose), Penelope, the Hunters (namely Zoe.) However, not all characters felt so well developed...

Some of the characters, namely main character Wes Hunter, felt really hard to connect with or to even like. At first, he came off like a crazy person, stalking her, ignoring her, staring/glaring at her, practically forcing himself onto her in a few instances, insinuating he watched her at night, constantly stroking/smelling her like she was a dang puppy dog, jumping in front of her car a bunch of times (Seriously? What the eff was with that??) Then acting super romantic and treating her like they were a married couple in the first few days...huh? And she just caved so pathetically... Aside from that, Wes was very caring and kind, but their chemistry seemed blatantly forced to me, unnatural.

One aspect that kept me from immersing in this book was the cheesy YA lingo, such as "Specials", "Chosen", The Order etc, all these vague terms that are frequently overused, to the point of over-beating the poor dead horse, in this genre.

And the group of "mean girls" felt too cliche. Yes, mean girls really exist, BUT they aren’t all 2D cut outs, right? I’ve definitely known a few 3D, shallow, snobbish mean girls in real life, complete with duality, ulterior motives, and hidden agendas, but these also have semblances of hearts, fears and dreams, etc. Books these days rarely craft a truly realistic "mean girl."

This book was pretty angsty, mushy, ooey-gooey and downright sappy in my opinion. I feel like the over-the-top melodrama made it really difficult to appreciate some of beautiful imagery and lovely prose. There was some really good writing in this book such as the lush, vivid prose and character developments and story plot-lines, but it kinda got trampled on by all the sickeningly sweet hamfisted lovie-dovie scenes. Some times less IS more, and more is just...a headache.

Overall, I would recommend Midnight Rose to YA paranormal romance fantasy fans, especially if you love the angst and mushiness of say- books like Twilight. (I’ve not read that one, myself, and have no interest in ever doing so, but judging by what I’ve read of it and heard of it, it seems spot on. Other reviewers say its pretty comparable also...) The cover art is pretty cool, very eye catching. I may or may not continue the series...Only time will tell.

I just finished reading Midnight Rose and absolutely loved it!!!!! It is a must read for fans of 'Twilight' and all those who love vampire novels!

If you have read Twilight you will see the influence it had on Dani Hart as she wrote Midnight Rose, but this is no fan fiction turned into fifty shades of nonsense.

 photo 50-shades-of-grey-GIF.gif

Midnight Rose is original and grips you from the very first page. I enjoyed every minute of it and just when I thought I had everything figured out, it turned out I was wrong!

 photo tenor_1.gif

This book is unpredictable and will leave you wanting so much more by the time you finish reading the last page.

I personally cannot wait for the release of the second book, and am really looking forward to reading what is in store for Abby and all the characters that Hart created with so much depth. Their roles in Abby's story is so well written, you can't help but feel like they are real. There were even moments where I was so immersed in Abby's story that I felt like I was the one living her story.

 photo Is-This-Real-Life-gifs.gif

It's very rare when a book makes you feel as though you are in the characters shoes, but Midnight Rose is one of those stories where you feel exactly that. It makes you feel like you exist in the same world as Hart's characters, and that always makes for a promising read.

Hart truly did an amazing job bringing her story together, and I give her major props for creating a captivating story full of such unique characters.

 photo tenor_2.gif

I've actually mentioned this to Dani, but when it comes to her novels, I have a really hard time choosing sides, because she writes both male love interests so well I find it difficult to choose between the two.

 photo dont-make-me-choose.gif

It makes me wish Abby could just keep both, but I know that's not possible and am really curious to see who Abby chooses in the end.

I highly encourage all of you to give this novel a chance if you love romance novels that include dark and mysterious immortals. I can't say you won't regret it, because I know we all have different taste in books, but consider giving it a chance if you enjoyed reading series like The Twilight Saga and The Mortal Instruments. This novel is just as good as those series, if not more, but that's ultimately for you to decide.

I am so happy Dani Hart is back with this new release. I absolutely love her writing. It has been a long time since I have stayed up until 4 in the morning to finish a book. This paranormal romance is gripping and Dani Hart leads you into a world that is exciting. Now, that I have gushed my happy on to the book.

As I started reading this I really wasn't sure what to expect but I knew it would be magical. It starts with your typical teenage girl, Abigail Rose, and her normal life. She just wants to finish school and get through life while trying to forget Wes, the boy she loved a few years back. He left town after a tragic accident. Leaving Abi feeling broken and trying to pull herself back together and live life. She keeps to herself and has just her best friend, Kendra. Until one day just before school starts back and her whole life changes. Wes and his family have returned and she learns more than she dreamed she would and that makes this story. Along with Abigail, Kendra and the Hunters we also meet Elijah Winters and Kendra's brother, Jack. I fell in love with Wes and Elijah. There is something about Jack that just leaves me wanting to know more about him. This story grabs you and holds on to you. Making you want to know what will happen next. I found myself smiling, close to tears, swooning, and my heart racing trying to figure out what was going to happen. The only bad thing about this is it left me wanting more NOW. I am very glad to know that there is more of the story coming. I am excited to see what comes next and what will happen with Abigail and all the characters. CAN"T WAIT FOR MORE!

It took Abby a long time to recover from a broken heart and begin to live a normal life. Wes was her first love and her first heartbreak. When he returns to town, Abby's heartache does too. Abby's father no longer travels for work and is more present at home, but things seem off. He seems stressed and on edge all of the time. Elijah is a stranger Abby knows nothing about, but she feels a strange connection to him. Although things are off at first, everything seems to begin to fall into place, but then Abby discovers that her life is based on lies. She doesn't know who to believe or trust anymore. Danger lurks everywhere, especially where Abby least expects it. Nothing is at it seems.
This was my second read by Dani Hart. I was pleasantly surprised by this paranormal story. It had the right amount of suspense and detail, keeping me riveted from the beginning. The teenage love story was filled with angst, reminding me of how passionate and all encompassing teenage love can be. I loved the characters, especially Elijah. There is something intriguing about him. The storyline moved along smoothly, transitioning from the flashbacks back to the present in a seamless manner. There are small bread crumbs left for the reader that tie in as you get further and further into the book. I won't spoil it for anyone, but I think my heart may have stopped at one point. The overall feel of Midnight Rose reminded me of Twilight with a twist. I am looking forward to reading the next book when it comes out.

With this being Dani Hart's first published work in two years, you would have never thought that. This book takes you on an amazing journey of self discovery and delves into a world that feels like it could be really out there. While yes it does feel comparable to Twilight, I found this book had more depth and gives you an unique spin on something that leaves you begging for more. Don't get me wrong, I love Twilight, but this book left me with feelings of want, intrigue and left me guessing what will happen next.
I love the character of Abby. She is strong yet shy and reserved but very passionate about things in her life. She is one of those characters that leaves you in awe of her quiet strength. You have Wes, who is someone that she has been in love with forever. Then you toss Elijah into the mix and you have one insane love triangle.
The concept of the Order has me left with a lot of questions and I really need more. I really enjoy Hart's style of writing as she is very descriptive and it feels like her words paint a picture in front of you while you read. If you are a fan of Twilight, Vampire Academy and the like, you will very much want to read this one. I am very much looking forward to what is to come in this series! Amazing just doesn't seem to cut it for this book.. it's so much more!

This book is a gem among many. Not your average young adult paranormal romance, Midnight Rose adds a new layer to paranormal lore.

At its heart, Midnight Rose is a love story between two people that transcends the human bond. Abigail has been in love with Wes Hunter since she was a young girl and he her. After a horrible accident, Wes suddenly moved away from town leaving Abigail lost and heartbroken. When Wes suddenly returns to town, secrets are revealed and first love reignites.

Dani Hart has written a nicely layered novel with characters you love, intrigue, secrets and danger. There wasn't a moment of this book that didn't have me wanting to keep turning the page. Secrets spills out around every corner.

A fantastic YA paranormal romance that I highly recommend to anyone wanting something memorable and new in the PNR genre!

This book has a good storyline but all I could think of was Twilight meets Romeo and Juliet. It has a similar feel to it. Girl falls in love with boy but can't have boy due to circumstances. We meet Abby after the accident. She is still trying to wrap her head around things and just when she feels ok, Wes is back into town. Her world suddenly gets more interesting. She finds out what happened to Wes that night and what he is. She also finds out what her dad has been hiding his whole life. All she wants is to be a simple girl in her junior year of high school, hang with best friend and be with her love but that doesn't happen for her. This book was good and the storyline kept your attention.

What if your whole life was built around a lie

Wow it's been 2 years since Dani Harts last book but it was definitely worth the wait. Keep me hooked with all the twists and turns most that you just don't see coming.
Abigail thought that her life was just ordinary and so was she but she's about to find out its not. Nothing is what it appears and those revolutions are going to change the course of her life.
Would give this morning than 5 stars if I could. I just hope I don't have to wait to long for the next book in the series.

I was intrigued at the beginning, irritated in the middle and a bit disappointed at the end.

The book had many beautiful touching moments, but I didn't like the twist.
Plus they totally ruined the hero for me when they told me about his past: how he cheated on his bff with his gf and it was the reason his bff died. I was shocked that the heroine took it so easy. It wasn't his fault? I beg to differ!

I guess the bonus chapters were meant to be an introduction to the next book. Not sure I would read it.

I wasn’t captivated right away, but the more I read the more I started to become interested. Right away I wanted to know what Abby’s deal was and why she was so depressed. I had many questions that didn’t get answered right away. The one thing I was hoping for was Abby and Wes to continue their relationship, but now Elijah seems like an interesting match. I’m now torn between the two. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series especially since the author ended with an intriguing piece of information.

Midnight Rose (Book 1 of midnight series) is an interesting read. Don't get me wrong, this book has a good story. This book kind of reminds me of Twilight. Anyway, the story is good, it's intriguing.. but sometimes it's a bit bragging on the middle part and I sometimes want to slap Abigail. lol. sorry. But still, the story is good and interesting. I'm looking forward to see what will happen next to Abigail and the others!

This is a young adult paranormal read... Abigail Rose is a bit more mature than most of the other kids at school. She’s been through a bit more that’s also left her a bit broken. I really like Wes and I think he and Abby are perfect for each other. Then there’s Eli. I can’t say why, but something is just not quite right about him. I don’t trust him. And Abby’s own father has secrets.... what exactly is “The Order?”
I do recommend this clean read to anyone who enjoys paranormal intrigue.

Abigail Rose lives in a world where vampires, secret societies, and humans with powers exist. Only she doesn’t realize it…yet. Everything changes when Wes Hunter moves back to town. Abigail is still hurt from the way he left her years ago, but is still willing to give him a chance. She must decide who are the real monsters and who she can really trust before it’s too late.

This book sounded so promising. Vampires, secret societies and romance- heck yeah. Only this book was a big HECK NO!

This read as a horrible twilight fanfic written by someone very young. And i’ve read a lot of Twi fanfic in my day. The character is so obviously Bella. Down to her clumsiness, and the love triangle.

I felt like the author couldn’t decide on a plot so the entire basis of the story was so flimsy. There is zero character development, awkward unnatural dialogue, random flashbacks, and the book ended in a cliffhanger mid story so you have to buy the next book. Honestly- as much as I despise that from authors (I will never buy the next book. That turns me off from it forever), I was happy in this case. It meant I could stop reading this without having to call it a DNF.

What a wonderful story! And I love this cover!
I enjoy finding new-to-me authors and Dani Hart is just that but what a good surprise.
With an easy flow of words and slow character development, the author weaves a tale of humans and immortals coexisting governed by a secret society.
This is one of those stories that slowly builds while the suspense grows as the need arises in my chest with absolute certainty that I NEED to know what's going to happen next...and then there's a twist.
I loved it!

This was fun. And has vampires, so. That’s a bonus. The cliffhanger kinda makes me want to continue the series, but my hatred for series makes me want to not. Quite the conundrum.
