This is the seventh novella in the Romance In Central City series, and the story of Oswald, known as Oz, The Wizard (with women) and Selene, a woman raised by her uncle and aunt, brother and sister and a priest and old maid. Talk about opposites attracting. Set at Christmas time, when a man can steal a kiss under the kissing bough, but that doesn't mean he won't get slapped. I enjoyed writing Selene and Oz's story, and as with the other books in this series, I had plenty of chuckles as they worked through the challenges of romance. I hope you enjoy it, too.
Jordan loves vampires. But if you know anything about Jordan, you already knew that detail. What you didn’t know was it wasn’t long ago that she began writing about them.
A few years back Jordan received a copy of Twilight from her husband as part of her anniversary gift. By the end of that week she’d read the entire series and moved onto Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles. Eight weeks and eighteen vampire books later the idea for her first book, Perpetual Light came to her followed very quickly by Eva Prim.
In April of 2014 Prim & Proper, the second Eva Prim Novel released. Also available are The Demon Mistress, the first Eva Prim Novel along with four short stories. For continual updates on Eva please join the Snack Of The Week Club at www.evaprim.com.
In August of 2014 Jordan released the first novella in the Romance In Central City Series, Her Vampire’s Promise. Novella two, The Vampire’s Partner follows in September and A Vampire’s Passion is the October Release. Novella four, His Vampire Past is set for a November release.
Jordan is a member of the national Romance Writers of America organization and several chapters.
When she’s not writing about one vampire or another Jordan enjoys spending time with her husband, Ken and their lovable Labrador, Dino on the beautiful beaches of New England.
A novella - read as part of the Under the Kissing Bough collection.
I stumbled into this one, not having read the rest of the series. This is a cute story of a vampire hiding his love for a mortal, but taking a chance and stealing a kiss when she stands under mistletoe at the Christmas party.
Vampire Oz has secrets. His biggest being that he wants the attention of Selene, the outspoken accounting clerk for the Vampire Guard. Selene wants the dangerous womanizing vampire too but refuses to give into the temptation he poses. He flirts with all the women, right? Who needs a man like that in her life? This story is great. I really connected with Selene and felt for Oz. It sort of reminded me of a Midnight Breed story, which is a great thing. I requested this book as an ARC at no cost to the author.
Her Vampire Protector: A Romance In Central City, Novella Seven Kindle Edition
by Jordan K. Rose I received an ARC from the Author in exchange for an honest review
This is the first book of the series I've read, and I ran into a tiny problem. I was kind of lost in terms of the rules of the world these vampires existed in. That is probably very normal, for instance jumping into Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series right now you would wonder what the heck you picked up. Even so, I was able to piece together most of what was going on.
The most interesting part was the almost but not quite Tracy and Hepburn relationship between Selene Kittery and Oswald (Oz or the name he hates the most – The Wizard). The back and forth, the friction is fun for awhile. Unfortunately, in the end, it makes Selene into a bit of a prudish brat instead of a Complete Female Character. We also fall into the problem where the women usually only talk about the men when they are involved in personal conversations with no Y-Chromosome present.
Oswald is a typical charmer, physically huge and protective of everyone. He is physically incapable of not flirting with anything female. Which of course to our prudish heroine, who seems to live in the 21st century in a Dystopian city after a fire, takes as he is sleeping with everyone.
Most good vampires vs. evil vampires/corporations have more action. There was a lot of hinting but no giant battle and while at the very, very end there is a sweet and less than implicit love scene, there isn't a lot of hanky panky.
I am going to give this series another pass, with book 1. So a 4 out of a 5.
A great romance story. I loved it and would rank it five stars if it was just longer. If we could just see more of what happens in the end.
The story shows you how two people in love, but hide what they feel to the point they think the other can't stand them or only wants a one night fling. But the truth is so much better.
A great story for hopeless romantics like me.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of the book.
A beautiful story of waiting for the right time or moment to follow your heart. As the story unfolds and their adversary threatens more and more lives; two people have to work together against the darkness that's cast over all of them. In time will they find a way to stop the harm the world is ignorant about? Really enjoyed. didn't know it was part of a series. Will have to catch up and read the ones before. The only disappointment I had was how the book ended. Would have loved to read how the relationship bloomed. I voluntarily received a complimentary copy for an honest review. this author will be added to my TBR list.
Waiting for the revenants to be brought in, Oz observed the nervousness of Garrison. He was literally shaking, and whenever things got busy around him, he would display his ineptitude with weapons. Finally, after dropping two blades, Oz told him to go to safety. He was useless in a fight, not a good pick for the Vampire Guard really. Oz finally subdued the revenants and locked them away. But the odd thing he noted was that they had maybe one tooth or none at all. They would be starving. Was this the evil Raymond Tyrone’s attempt to control his revenant ‘experiments’ for his man-made vampire army? Could he be stopped? And what would he do next to retaliate against the Guard?
I loved Oz, as probably everyone will. He has wonderful qualities and, although thought of by some as a womanizer, he actually just truly adored all women. He gave kind attention to every one of them, regardless if they were beauty queens or not. He was a good guy through and through. Selene could be taken either way, a good person at heart, but a really immature nutcase at times. (Referring to the freezer incident with the side of beef and the salami – you have to read it for yourself!) But overall, the storyline was good and the book was enjoyable! I highly recommend it to all.
Her Vampire Protector is the seventh novella in the Romance in Central City series. This novella can be read as a standalone and does not end in a cliffhanger. The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat all of that info here. The story was okay. But with a novella length book there weren't enough pages to give the characters much depth. I have liked other books by the author, so hopefully I will relate to the characters in the next book more than I did with this one.
Selene and Oz make a very interesting couple. He is a vampire who has had feelings for her for many years. She is trying to be the good Catholic girl she was raised to be.but she wants Oz a lot.
It is fun to watch all the confusion as they try to find their way to each other. There are misunderstandings about their feelings for each other but everyone else knows they belong together. There is a real sweetness to their romance but also plenty of heat.
