HEAT ღ HUMOR ღ HEAOne drunken mistake cost me everything.I waited for Ruby to find her way back to me. I wanted to be the nice patient guy. But a man has his limits and I’ve reached mine.Ruby might be stubborn and rightfully pissed but she’s also the only woman for me. Now I’ll win her back and nothing and no one will stand in my way.Whiskey Blues contains graphic sexual content, violent situations, and harsh language. The book is only appropriate for adult readers age 18+.
Sorry, don't give a fuck how sorry you are or how long you stay celibate. Cheating on your 9-month PREGNANT girlfriend makes you a HUGE ASS LOSER. AND not moving on to someone else in 8 years makes the heroine a HUGE ASS DOORMAT...
Sounds like... I'm never going to touch that sh*t.
I know it's more complicated but essentially this is the deal! Others may enjoy this type of weak explanation for cheating but I don't! Thanks Ladies for letting me know before I bought this one!
Not happening! Although I really liked book 1, I just can't read this one. Such a shame. These kind of story lines are what makes me investigate books like a cold case. disappointing
4 1/2 stars What can I say this one was hard for me, on one hand it's Bijou Hunter (yes I know enough said) on the other if you have read other books in this series or the book summary you know what Bonn did(why Bonn why). Going in I knew this book would really have to be something to make me come around.
I have issues/triggers and I know about them and I'm ok with them. Bijou really pulled this book off. She had some big things happening in this book and in the end she made me love Bonn and Ruby and their story. Do I like what he did no and I will never ever say its ok but she really worked this story and made me glad I read this book.
One stupid decision changed not only Bonn's life but Ruby's and their daughter Elle. now so many years later that one mistake has changed so many lives. Bonn will never get over Ruby and no one else will do, now his life is a shell of what they had planned. Ruby's heart was broken and now so many years later that heartbreak has molded her into something she never planned for or wanted. And though they do their very best that one night has effected their daughters life. Seeing his cousin claim the woman he loves by not backing down gives Bonn that little nudge he needs to make a decision and that is to push for the only woman he has ever loved.
Bonn coming around isn't something Ruby knows how to handle and him not giving up is throwing everything she knows upside down. Hating Bonn is easier than admitting she's never loved anyone else, but trusting is another story and not easy. Bonn will do anything and endure anything to get his family back. When an opportune presents itself Bonn jumps at the chance to make a better life for him and his family even if it makes enemy's. Now it seems that Bonn and Ruby just might get their happy ending if they can finally move past old heartaches and Bonn's new idea don'ts get him killed.
Like I said I didn't like what Bonn did but I have to say he makes up for it. I think us knowing how long has gone by helped me and the sacrifice he makes as well as his willingness to do whatever he has to to get his family back. Ruby didn't make it easy but I understood it, he crushed her dreams and instead of feeling the pain she built walls of anger to survive the heart break. I loved Ruby and that she made Bonn work for it she doesn't just melt into a pile of goo because he has a nice butt, he broke her heart and she wants him to show her he has changed. Bonn, as crazy as it sounds was a great hero I really liked him and he grovels happily for his family.
I loved this series and I loved seeing how far everyone has come. We get nice little glimpses of other characters from other series which was fun and I nice extra touch. I can't wait to see what happens next, I really hope Harmony(the third sister) gets a book we get a juicy little glimpse into her story and I really want to know what will happen with her. I didn't want to skip a second of this book or skim or just get it done(which I have felt more times that I wish lately). I know that some will be leery of this one but I really hope people give it a chance. Bijou hasn't let us down yet snd she really doesn't this time.
*Just a side note this one is filled with Bijou Hunters great funny writing that I love.
I'm so embarassed to review this one. Basically there are so many elements that disturbed me and annoyed me. - The heroine living in a trailer and refusing to live in a condo with her child because she has always lived in a trailer. Ok, this was overkill. -The hero working as a stripper because he earns more money. (Cringe) -The hero cheating on his 9 month pregnant gf because he was scared to be a father and wanted to have fun as his peers. -The hero waiting 8 years before trying to win her back. -The idea of the author of a happy ending is the hero leaving his stripper job to be a mob boss, basically a criminal who kills people and manages whores and drug dealers and the couple having another baby. Jeez. Talking about making efforts. The couple was dysfunctional and their background is extremely toxic, so it was no surprise he lost his mind and cheated with another girl when the hero was pregnant. He went to a party and only wanted to get wasted and enjoy it somehow. He got drunk and the girl was there. He was young, scared and immature. The description of that experience was really awful because he didn't enjoy it and was basically puking while ow was screwing him. Ew. Worst cheating experience ever. Not his best moment but his background was definitely unfavorable. Then he has been celibate for 8 years, and we're talking about a man in his early 20s so it was not easy. The experience could have changed him but sadly there was the mob boss part, that is served out as if it was the grand chance of his life. No words. But it was a good example of how is real life for disvantaged people who live in a modern country where differences in social classes are huge.
Was going to rate it more until halfway where the so far clean H gets into illegal stuff incuding murder just to support his family. Thats a stupid excuse:(
4.5 stars for the romance - though I didn't like the h too much. Like most of Bijou Hunter h's I found her stagnant, unambitious and afraid of change. However I liked the H, he clearly adored the h and her kid and I liked that there were multiracial MCs. This was one case of cheating where I wanted the h to forgive the H immediately, but still I laud her for kicking him out.
3 stars for the over all story.

Star Ratings: Heroine (Ruby): 26yrs old Hero (Bonn): 26yrs old Plot: 3/5 Grovel: felt genuine Cheating: yes – H slept with another woman whilst h was pregnant HEA: great epilogue with kids Triggers: none
Average score: 3.5/5
Best Line: “She wants me to shut up, but I’ve spent years missing her. Once my mouth starts flapping about how amazing Ruby is, I can’t stop myself.”
Worst Line: “Plenty of girls stay with cheaters.”
Personal Review: A good second chance romance between two childhood sweethearts
Random Ramblings •I love a strong-willed heroine •Good to know that they were both celibate •I was REALLY hoping that it was a misunderstanding and that he didn’t cheat •They resolved everything around the 60% mark which resulted in me being bored for the rest of the story
Overall Feeling:
Bonn is forgiven in my eyes but the cheating has not been forgotten
8 year of extended separation and celibacy for both parties following H.'s ONS incited by upcoming irrationality. and fears of fatherhood .h was 8 mos pregnant and devastated by the action of her otherwise perceived as perfect love of her life. They both simply exist surviving on their love for their child .She subsists on anger coupled with denial and suppression of her unwavering love.He on knowing they will some day reunite...until he finally decides he must make a play! This saga is the ultra quirky retelling of how they finally confront the infidelity, never having discussed it..A tale of forgiveness, renewal ,emotional growth, redemption and reconciliation... w healing and fulfilling sensual exploits each possessive of the other,he.somewhat ott,JP. So uplifting parameters within acceptance of survival within a depressive environment of limited economic options w norms of violence, crime and pay for play within the outlaw power structure.. Read via Audible, narration equally quirky!😂

Bonn and Ruby were in love, young and Ruby was nine months pregnant when Bonn made a drunken mistake. Nine years later, Ruby can barely look at Bonn and struggles with that when they have a daughter they share together.
Bonn has had enough, he has been celibate since that one time and wants Ruby back. Deciding it is time to put the pass aside, he makes a move towards bridging that gap with Ruby. He knows there will never be another woman for him and he has to go about gaining her trust.
Ruby is not sure she can trust Bonn again, if they go down that road again. If Bonn cheats again it would destroy her, Bonn knows this and is putting his family first. Can thy find a happily ever after?
This was a bit of a tough one for since it did have a cheat episode in it. Overall good story just a trigger that I am not a fan of. I did like finding out the full story between Bonn and Ruby, together they are a bit lost when they come together they are united and have a harmony to them. Can't wait for the next book.
Whiskey Blues was the second book in Bijou Hunter’s Second Chance Romance series.
Ruby and Bonn were childhood sweethearts. They were soulmates and totally in love. Ruby became pregnant during high school and they were planning a long life together. However, Bonn made a stupid mistake and ruined their future. The storyline began with them co-parenting their nine year old daughter but living separate lives. It was obvious that Ruby still harbored hurt and hate for Bonn.
I loved the second chance premise, but it moved too slow for me. Bonn and Ruby’s interactions were not very interesting since they were repetitive for the first half of the book. I understood her perspective but I didn’t need the same info replayed over and over for it to be reinforced. Thankfully there was a secondary and semi- suspenseful plot running simultaneously so the book was interesting; however, that plot was slow developing as well. Once it developed, I liked it much better and the last half of the book read faster. Part of the storyline was concluded while other parts will carry on throughout the series. As a whole, it was well written, enjoyable, had child like humor and was somewhat suspenseful.
Throughout the series, Hunter had created a tight bond within the characters - the three sisters (Daisy, Ruby and Harmony) and the two brothers/one cousin (Camden, Dayton and Bonn). The next book will tackle Harmony and Dayton. Hunter set us up to see two carefree, spontaneous, humorous and adventurous messes crash together for an exciting storyline. I can’t wait to see where she take us in Tequila Blues.
“One mistake does not define you.” ― R.J. Palacio, The Julian Chapter
Aside from the mistake Blake makes when he drunkenly slips into a stripper I found the most fascinating aspect of the book was that this man remained celibate for NINE long donkey years. Why???Or maybe him staying without sex made it seem as though he fully acknowledged the magnitude of his mistake.
They were not together any longer. His girlfriend had kicked him to the curb. This book may not deserve the ten stars but Bonn certainly has my respect for celibate longevity without wearing a collar.
Sex Is Not Synonymous with Love.
An eighteen year old in my opinion should not be having babies and a child should not be held by a 'another child' as a guarantee that one would not cheat. On one hand yes he did cheat(he made an drunken error in judgement) but to still pay for that with derision and scorn nine years down the line is a bit too much for my taste.
And yes Ruby the heroine made her own mistake as well.I doubt her pregnancy was planned and so that just exacerbated the situation and any normal person would not react normally nor positively to such a life altering event. And that's my two cents opinion on an otherwise very readable book.
The cheating between this couple is in the past and they are no longer together. As cheating books go, obviously the Hero was in the wrong but there are a few positives. They are both celibate since they broke up, this is despite the Hero being encouraged by his friends to date. He is a stripper, as he wants to earn enough money to provide for his daughter. I had a bit of an issue with this if he is trying to gain the heroine's trust, being surrounded by drunken women with sex on offer but he changes jobs at the start of the story. He is very, very sorry. The whole book is him trying to grovel. No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine. Thy talk about the cheating, they were very young, he was overwhelmed at the prospect of the birth of their baby and got drunk and cheated. It only happened once. HEA.

This is a second chance romance. This couple were together years ago, he cheated on her, and they broke up. They have a child to raise, so they are in each other's lives. Fast forward eight years later and they want a second chance to be back together. I have to admit that it took me a chapter or two to remember the characters and what was going on in the previous story. I had not remembered why they were not together. I have a problem with my characters cheating on each other when they are in a committed relationship. I do not like it. I cannot see the men as heroes any more and have difficulty connecting to them. I had that feeling slightly in this book, only because they didn't show him actually cheating on her, but discussed it. This couple has a lot of bad feelings to get over, a daughter to love, and lives to live before they get their happy ending. There were times that I did want to reach into the book and smack them. I could see the chemistry these characters had and the sex scenes were good. Overall, I just found this to be an okay read for me. I do recommend reading it because the aspects that bothered me, might not bother you. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book for the author.
What I liked: I really liked the daughter and how great of a father Bonn was. I also liked how Bonn stood up to his father and half brother. I kinda wish he would have beat crap out of his father.
What I didn’t like: I didn’t like how we didn’t see the cheating play out. It would have made me more invested in the story.
How hot was it: 2 out 5
Triggers: The H cheated on the h when she was pregnant with their child (this happened off page)
Final thoughts: I read the first book and really wanted to read this one because I’m a sucker for second chances especially after the Hero cheats. Unfortunately, this didn’t really work for me. I think I would have enjoyed it more if we read about the cheating and the aftermath instead of flashbacks.

I love this Authors work ... I have One clicked every book she has written & haven't been disappointed yet ... she always manages to have a great mix of S€x, Hart ache, tention, the coming together, drama, trouble & let's not forget funny mouthy chicks...... haven't read a wall flower yet... very much looking forward to Harmony's book & can't wait to read it ..... thoroughly enjoyed reading this awesome work... :-) Have read some other reviews that have felt different... I did love it!!!..... in saying this it is a little same same.... but you have to rememberthe women in the story even the mother & her BFs live at the trailer park yes in there own trailers with each a story of how, when & why there their how they get out of there & who they Love.... How they get back who they Love how new Love comes... Thats how my mind went into this Book ... <3 :-) Hope this Helps :-)
Ugh! This book just wasn’t great. Let’s start with H.... he’s way too passive. He fucked up and let his girl be for 9 years! Then just shows up and is like hey I want you. The story never addresses the feelings of hurt, betrayal, regret that happened because of this mistake. Unfortunately when addressing the cheating you got a very monotonous/ dry retelling. More like stating the facts. Then to find out he turns to a life of crime but in a very entrepreneurial way was just confusing. I’m sorry but the H does not come off as a strong persona. He seems dumb, lazy, and easily manipulated.
Now for the h... I absolutely understand being angry because your man cheated. But she was just bitter in general. You get the feeling that she was kind of this way even when she and H were together as kids. Their family vibe gives off this very reclusive, exclusionary, almost cult like feeling. She wasn’t very like able. Even at the end she seemed mean spirited and more the “ you want to be with me, but I’m a bitch, so you’ll just have to deal with it”. She almost seemed verbally abusive when it came to her relationship. You never felt the chemistry, more just the concession to being with him because what else.
Also can we mention that at times ALL the characters come off as adolescents and not in a “ awe they will grow from this and become strong people who will allow their hardships to shape them”. No they are just petty, childish, and weirdly obsessed with each other.
Some problems in the actual story. 1. Big plot points were mentioned, but just thrown out there like the weather. There was no lead up or explanation. How do you go from being a passive, no. Violent stripper, to o by the way I killed a man tonight? No flow 2. Nothing came from the story line involving his dad. It was just you fucked us over, but we’re just gonna walk away. 3. The peripheral characters were mentioned but no real depth or even conflict arose from them.
Overall, this book was a flop. I will not be reading the others in this series.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. As per usual Bijou writes a story that is not only interesting but also unique. How does one make up for a mistake that bought everything crashing down. Patience, perseverance and a whole lot of guts. It took me a while to place where the book fit until we got to the trailer park and bam it came rushing back like a freight train. Now with my personal history I usually steer clear of second chance love stories that have cheating involved, but considering how much I enjoy Bijou's style of writing, I thought hell why not. Bonn made a stupid, stupid mistake and it cost him big time but no more he's going after his woman and making things right, finally. Ruby has a right to anger, hell I sure don't blame the trust issues either, but seeing these two work on rebuilding what they'd lost had me cheering all the way. Hmmm now I really can't wait for the next in the series, if it's who I think it's about, that is going to be absolutely awesome.
I really enjoyed this second installment of the serrated brotherhood series. This time we focus on Ruby and Bonn. They have an 8 year old daughter together but haven't been a couple during this time. Bonn like an 18 year old idiot, cheated on Ruby whilst she was pregnant. Usually, I have no sympathy or forgiveness for cheating boyfriends in books, but the circumstances surrounding his lapse I found forgivable. It is also a testament to Bijou Hunter's writing that I liked Bonn and Ruby together. I believed he would never stray again and he deserved to get his family back. Ruby is fabulous as a strong woman who allows herself to take back the life she has been denied. If you've read any Bijou Hunter books, especially Junkyard Dog and the Damaged series, you'll love the glimpses of previous characters from those stories.
Whiskey Blues is an excellent addition to the Serrated Brotherhood MC series. It's wonderfully written and an engaging second-chance romance about once childhood sweethearts separated for almost a decade. The main characters, Ruby and Bonn, were very appealing, and their story was quite entertaining and enjoyable. Their journey was one warped in mistakes, consequences, passion, and forgiveness. Given this is an MC romance, there are elements of suspense, generating excitement and further engaging the readers/listeners. I'm definitely looking forward to the next book in the series.
Isabella Starr's narration was spot-on; she captured the nuances of the characters and their emotions and connections, bringing them to life. Bijou Hunter's is a fantastic storyteller, and I enjoyed the entire audiobook, and one I'm highly recommending.
Whiskey blues was a good read, not a lot of drama but interesting nonetheless interesting. Bonn is the illegitimate son of the Serrated Brotherhood's VP while Ruby is his first love and the mother of his 9 year old daughter. While Ruby was 9 months pregnant at the age of 18 Bonn slept with another woman and broke Ruby's heart. This story if about Bonn and his quest to regain Ruby's trust and her love. With help of her sister and her mother Ruby's overcomes her issues and gives Bonn another chance and eventually they find their way bay together. I would have like to have have a least one jaw dropping moment this book unfornautaly did't delivery. It didn't have the sexy alpa made I typical to seen in CM book, But like I said it was interstingl
I’ll be honest, I didn’t want to read this, I just couldn’t imagine ever being able to forgive Bonn, just no. But I’m OCD about reading every book in a series and I’m a Bijou Hunter fan so I put on my big girl nickers and started reading. It hurt, it hurt me for Ruby so bad that I read a lot of it with tears in my eyes but in the end I’m with Ruby, does she suddenly trust him again, absolutely not, even in the end she’s honest with him and herself and explains it in such a way that he’s ok and I’m ok with them and that’s a gift.
Bijou Hunter's books always make me smile and laugh at her whit. This is Bonn and Ruby's HEA, we get the backstory during the book we also get alternating points of view. We watch them reconnect slowly after years apart and watch Bonn become the man he always wanted to be for his family.
Next up Harmony and Dayton and I can't wait. Also cEnt wait for someone to put J.J. in his place and someone needs to make Howler Howl, just saying.
It would be really hard not to love Bonn. Even tho he screwed up royally eight years ago, Ruby still is his one and only. Well, he's tired of missing her so he's going after his woman. I enjoyed this book! It was an easy read and easy to get lost in with characters that keep you entertained. Bonn and Ruby were meant to be and I'm glad they worked things out. Definitely recommend!
I didn’t much like the first book of the series, but thought I’d give this one a go. Wasn’t a fan. I was bored with the same stuff over and over (the heroine’s anger, resentment and struggle to forgive vs. the hero’s determination to make it work). Then suddenly it’s the end of the book and they’re having a happily ever after. Hmm. Would not recommend.
Hero made me believe he earned that second chance. Now I'm not a fan of second chance romance and new adult romance but this book was an enjoyable read. Hero was celibate for 9 yrs after his cheating episode and he made me believe he could be redeemed. Good writing by the author!
