Damn right im counting a school assignment on Goodreads lolololol. But I actually really enjoyed this. The character development in such a short story was fascinating. This reinstated how much I want to do nonprofit work abroad for patients with cleft lip someday. I would recommend this quick read for anyone in the health field.
A plastic surgeon observed by an amazed medical student. A heartbreaking and memorable story of how far he went for his patient, but mostly for himself. For Dr. Franciscan the art of plastic surgery is what captures him, what he is proud of doing. Helping his patients is incidental. At the end the medical student performs an act, while in controls of the presentation projector to remove a slide which would reveal what the surgeon had done. That he had photographed a corpse and planned to share with the world what he was able to craft, as though the patient's demise was not a part of the story.
