There are so many so-so clichéd bad boy books out there that I often dread anything will bad boy in the title. However Amelia Wilde is a very talented author and this is anything but your typical bad boy romance.
Sawyer is a troubled young man who is clearly NOT happy with where he is in life and Zelda wants excitement but tends to play it safe. They are two really likable and well written characters with a very strong and believable connection. The book is written from a dual POV, which allows you to understand and empathise with both main characters.
The plot was good with some interesting twists, it flows well, is easy to read and has a steady pace to it. I enjoyed the story and found the book really easy to read.

Zelda is good, she is helpful, kind & spends her days as a librarian & her nights studying for her maters in library science. She lives in her parent’s basement apartment & sticks close to home most of the time. She has a secret that she blames herself for & allows her mother to be over protective of her even though she is already in her twenties. Sawyer is bad, he is an enforcer for a local drug dealer & doesn’t care if he has to get his hands dirty to get his job done. He has his own secrets he keeps about his past too & because of them refuses to go back to his home town to visit family. But when his favorite Aunt calls to tell him his dad is dying & he better come home to say good-bye, Sawyer does what he has to & heads to his Aunt’s house. The first night home he heads to a night club with an old friend & the first thing he sees when he walks in the door is Zelda. He can’t take is eyes off her. And she can’t take her eyes off him. Zelda & Sawyer chat briefly before Zelda’s friend drags her away from the club. They both cannot stop thinking about the other & wonder if they will ever see each other again. The next afternoon, Sawyer is walking his old neighborhood & just happens to look up to see Zelda getting ready to cross the street. Turns out she lives almost across the street from his Aunt. As they get to know one another Sawyer realizes Zelda is too good for him but he can’t stay away. Zelda wants Sawyer but know that he is the ‘wrong’ kind of guy. All too soon it doesn’t matter anymore because they just can’t stay away from one another. When Sawyer is forced to bring Zelda with him on a job, she gets an up close look at who Sawyer really is & she must decide if she can live with what he does. But as Zelda tries to decide what she wants, Sawyer begins to believe that maybe he wants something different too.

I loved the latest from Amelia Wilde! When Sawyer returns home because his dad is sick the last thing he thought he would find was a woman who made him want to walk away from the life he had been living in the city. Sawyer is a collector/heavy for Domino and has been since after he ran away from his family and got to the big city. A phone call from his aunt has him back home, even though he can't bring himself to see his dad-they have a history. Zelda has dreams to do something important with her degree in Library Science and end up in a bigger city, but for now she lives in a basement apartment at her parent's house and finishing up her degree online. A night out with her best friend is where she meets Sawyer and her life will never be the same. Zelda and Sawyer are electric together, but when what he does for a living comes knocking on the door he will risk loosing her forever. Sawyer goes big to end to keep Zelda at his side. Zelda and Sawyer are intoxicating together, and their love story is brilliantly orchestrated. First off, don’t you just love their names?, and then secondly, Zelda is a librarian in her hometown public library while she’s completing her online master’s program in library science. Library science! (Bet she lends a different image to the definition in the dictionary!) She hooks up with a heavy for a drug dealer who just by happenchance has returned to his hometown at his aunt’s request to see/make amends with his dying father.
Zelda meets Sawyer one night when her BFF drags her out for a night on the town… but then drags her away when she’s put off by Sawyer and his friend. As luck would have it, though, Zelda and Sawyer can’t stop thinking and fantasizing about one another, and then luckily run into each other while out walking AND learn that Sawyer’s aunt lives right up the block from Zelda. These two are magnetically drawn to one another, and in true author Amelia Wilde fashion, Zelda and Sawyer radiate an almost palpable chemistry off the page, and their physical connection sizzles off the charts. These two are steamy in every way. Zelda helps to draw out the true essence of Sawyer, and she sees the good in him regardless of what he does for a living. He eventually comes to want to be who he’s really mean to be, willing to leave his rough life, make something of himself, and even forgive his abusive father. The reality is that you can leave the past behind, do the right thing and chart a new path regardless of how impossible it might seem, and whatever you do, never give up on love.
Heavy delivers suspenseful action, deep emotion, conflict, passionate angst, and lots of steam, sizzle, and substance. It’s pretty difficult not to fall in love with these two and their perfectly scripted HEA.

Zelda, the well-behaved and amiable librarian, meets in a club Sawyer, the stunning heavy of a drug lord. They feel immediately drawn to each other, but are right away separated from Zelda's bbf, who feels offended by Sawyer.
The next day they meet again by chance and find that they are almost neighbors.
Sawyer is in town to reconcile with his dying father, who severely mistreated him as a child and has thus ultimately driven him into his current criminal career.
Zelda works in the city library and works online on her master's degree, then wants to leave the unloved small town and strive for higher goals.
Both fall in love rapidly and Sawyer realizes that he must radically change his life to keep his girl and not put her in danger…
Amelia Wilde has once again managed masterly to bring two different characters to life and to write an emotional, tense, and yet warm-hearted story. I love her books and this one, too, is an absolute must read!

The second Sawyer & Zelda spot each other in a crowded club they are instantly attracted to each other.
Zelda is a quiet librarian who wants something more adventurous in her life but, is always wary of possible dangerous situations due to her past and Sawyer is back in town cause the father he ran away from as a teenager is dying of cancer.
After Zelda and Sawyer bump into each other again they realize just how strong there attraction really is but, Sawyers job is beyond shady and knows how bad it could be for Zelda but he just wants her to much.
This was a pretty good story with likable characters. I really liked seeing Sawyer soften and show his emotions and the lengths he'd go to for Zelda.

Sawyer has come home after 5 years away, His aunt called to tell him his father has taken a turn for the worse, He is fighting cancer.
Sawyer left because his father was abusive. Now that he is back he needs to just get out for a bit and calls up his friend Max to go out. Thinking they would just hit one of the dive bars Max has other ideas and goes to a club.
Zelda is the librarian of the small town, she is going to school online to finish her masters degree, Her best friend Carly has talked her into going out
tonight at a club. When the gorgeous man walks in Zelda cant help but have fantasies on the spot. When Sawyer and Max walk up to talk to them Sawyer knows that he needs to make Zelda his, He barely speaks to Carly (actually LOVE that he cant remember her name through most of the story LOL)
Zelda has a past that has her afraid to actually let loose and have fun, Sawyer has a past as a heavy for a drug dealer, When things get heated between his boss and him that effects Zelda things go bad, But I LOVED how this story played out with a Great HEA ending!!

Sawyer job consists of inflicting pain or retaining funds owed to a drug dealer named Domino. He was called back home to Greenville due to his father failing health. Upon arrival, he goes out with a longtime buddy and sees Zelda across the room and the attraction was immediately between the two. Zelda, a quiet librarian, who is doing online classes to obtain her master degree in library science. She is persuaded to go out on the town by one of her friend but felt uncomfortable. The club wasn't her usual scene until she saw him, the man she couldn't ignore if she wanted to. Can Zelda accept Sawyers lifestyle. Will Sawyer leave his job for Zelda?
This is a well rounded story of how the opposite attraction to each other is inevitable. It was written with strong characters and the storyline was nicely done. I loved how Sawyer was determined to make the relationship work, no matter what the consequences was. A HEA ending.

This is a perfect example of reality vs expectation. I was expecting a tough, enforcer for the city's "most dangerous drug dealer" and the reality was he's a money collector for a not super scary man. I was expecting an abusive father who was dying and a son who was ready to make him take responsibility for the abuse, especially since it was the catalyst for him choosing a criminal path. Reality was I got a dying dad who said he was sorry and all seemed to be forgiven. I did enjoy the interaction between Sawyer and Zelda and it was very nice to see her come into her independence. I was just expecting a totally different story and feel the blurb was misleading. I will say this was a sweet, instalove story, well written with a cute couple.

Sawyer works as an enforcer for a drug dealer, a position that he is beginning to regret. He needs a change in his life course. He needs to face his demons from his past. So he returns home to face his dad. While there, he meets Zelda at a club. She takes his breath away but she is a good girl and he feels so unworthy of her. Zelda is drawn to Sawyer but hesitates getting closer because of the danger vibes that radiate from him. Their growing relationship, working through past traumas, facing the consequences of reality is interesting and keeps one hoping they make it through the challenges. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. Four stars.

Now years later, he is called home by his aunt to see his dying father. When Sawyer meets Zelda the beautiful, sweet librarian their romance blossoms and she gives him hope that he can change his life but will his old life let him go peacefully? While focused mostly on the romance between Sawyer and Zelda, this steamy story also contains a touch of redemption and forgiveness. Heavy is another great read by Amelia Wilde.

HEAVY
I loved this story, it was both intriguing and captivating. The storyline had alot going on but worked well, and the characters were amazing. I loved Sawyer and Zelda's relationship, they had great chemistry and suited each other. There were lots of emotions running through this story, and the author did a great job conveying the characters emotions and the intensity of them. This book had me gripped from start to finish, and I literally could not put it down. This was a very exciting and entertaining read.

This was an okay read. Everything just seemed so glossed over and I guess I was expecting something more from the blurb. Zelda's secret was no where near what I was thinking and it was barely explained. I think part of the reason everything 'seemed' so dramatic to the MC's was because they were both only 23....I don't know why but I just assumed that Sawyer was older like late 20's or early 30's.

The ending redeemed the book
It gets off to a rough start before it really falls into some kind of rhythm switching back and forth between Sawyer and Zelda. Not too spicy but the spicy scenes were decent. Only two frustrations on the spicy scenes were 1- they didn't fade to black per se but they also didn't reveal the big finish every time and 2- some minor inconsistencies with the details from one chapter spicy scene to the very next. Otherwise, very happy with the ending!

An enjoyable read. The plot felt rushed and their didn't feel the connection between the two characters. Writing style felt young considering this is an adult book which made the characters feel years younger than their age. Did like the concept of this book and am interested in reading more from this author.

With names for our hero and heroine like Sawyer and Zelda, what's not to like.
This book had quite a bit going on - Sawyer's on the wrong side of the law as the "muscle" to a drug pusher; Zelda is a "good girl" librarian who is overly cautious due to a teenage mistake. Tons of chemistry. And, they each bring out the good in the other.

Really liked the main characters and their development, both together and on their own. I liked the contrasts between them as well. If there is one thing, it’s that at first I was getting a lot of insta-love/ insta-attraction vibes and I don’t mind it but I think I would have preferred it if it wasn’t in here. But I still really enjoyed this book

This is by far my favorite book of Amelia Wilde's. I absolutely loved it from the first page to the last. A beautiful love story that will have you smiling at the hea ending.

A story about a bad boy and the quiet girl next door with a bit of emotions thrown into the mix for fun. No really though, this was a really good book. I don't think you will regret picking up Zelda and Sawyers story.

I love the storyline, nothing too exciting, the chemistry between Zelda and Sawyer was innocent and sweet. Give it a go.
