The doctor is positive he can make his lifelong dream work. However, the scientists will soon find radiation is not the only thing threatening their lives. McElroy’s plan has raised the ire of engineer Mikola Petrovsky—a bitter opponent to artificial life. ( Format : Audiobook ) "It often takes a lifetime..." A fascinating book covering several story lines within a theme of travel to and colonisation of Ceres combined also with that of the ethics of creating androids, and one such in particular, a boy named James. Although rather flat in individual character construction and, initially, a little difficult to get into given the interwoven stories, this book is well worth perseverance, leaving a colourful woven tapestry impression by the ending. Charles Geddes narration fits well with the text. Most enjoyable.
My thanks to the rights holder of What are you made of?, who, at my request freely gifted me with a complimentary copy of this audiobook. Recommended not only to science fiction buffs for the ideas it contains, but to everyone with an interest in society and human values, very pertinent to current issues.
First, I am a fan of Starta's, but I never set expectations when reading or listening to one of his stories. I enjoyed this story, and I think I enjoyed it the most because I was listening the audiobook. The narrator did a wonderful job at bringing Starta's words to life. It was well put together, and of course, well written. There is a fight to save humanity, as always, that's a great premise. Starta takes the story to a new level with this futuristic tale, using artificial intelligent beings to save the world. I enjoyed this story.
I had trouble getting into this story at first but as it went on it became hard to stop listening to it. Nar6did a Great job with the characters and the writer also did a Great job. This is a very interesting and in the future possibly a realistic view of humans and their fear of change and advance robotics.
This is an intriguing read and a futuristic look at the possibility of artificial intelligence and what comes with it. Doctor Adrian McElroy is in favor of using artificial intelligence to save humanity. Mikola Petrovsky isn't a big fan of the idea. On the planet of Ceres in the future circumstances may not leave the choice up to either man. They are in trouble in Ceres and maybe using AI may be a way to save at least a piece of what makes human beings who they are. The author takes readers on a journey to what the future may hold.
